We barely know anything about the story and characters and that combat was definitely not the same as AC3+4 or the Ezio trilogy.

That's true, I'm making an assumption on story part but I this trailer did nothing to pique my interest in either character or story.

And the combat looks a little different, but it still doesn't look fun, especially considering how insanely fluid and dynamic the free-running/climbing looks.

AC looked great outside of the basic combat, which still looks as braindead as ever. Stealth looks better (Crouching finally!), the new traversal animations are great, and the sound design is really good.
