Ubisoft's Steep season pass.... it's bad

Speed flying with skis would be cool. They didn't show the pilot in the 'speed gliding' segment so I guess they don't know if they will be able to implement that yet or not!

Didn't ubi recently say they didn't want to lock a complete experience behind DLC in their games anymore?

I'd argue the actual sports in a sports game being paid for DLC is exactly that. Knew it was too good to be true.

That was my first thought too. Although to be fair, I doubt the details of this season pass were just thrown together at the last minute. Not that it isn't bullshit, but I guess it is the norm for ubisoft. I guess we need to wait until their next batch of big titles release to see if they actually follow up on that promise.

I'm worried about how they implement it in for honor. Luckily it's more like r6, so the season pass hopefully reflects as such.

Amazon.ca - Your Cancellation

Dear Stan_Marsh,

You have successfully cancelled items from your order #FuckThisShadyShit (edited order # out)

For your reference, here is a summary of your order:

You've cancelled the following item(s) successfully:
_____________________________________________________________________
1 of Steep - PlayStation 4 - Standard Edition

Sold by: Amazon.com.ca, Inc.

Yea, no thanks.

Helicopter tickets?! What the hell is that about?!! I am seriously trying to think of a parallel or a similar item from a different game and I can't. I can see them saying "level up and you unlock new starting points on the mountain" or something like that but offering helicopter tickets is like giving someone a supply of single-use DLC bottle openers in a game where you drink a lot of potions or something.

Problem is that another bad snowboarding game will be interpreted by the industry that snowboarding games can't be successful.
The wait for a good one continues. 1080Switch please Nintendo.

I was going to wait for a price drop because of the Ubi's shit DLC plan, but with Best Buy running a B2G1 next week I figure it'll do as the freebie to accompany TLG and FFXV.

Yea, no thanks.

Cool, you can send an edgy message to some random person at Amazon. That's sure to show the folks at Ubi.

I think that OP could do to be a bit more informative, a lot of people are just going to read the OP and comment... just saying "they're keeping sports away from the 60$ winter game?" is a bit vague maybe.

I don't see a problem with that season pass; there's a fair bit of content for just 20 bucks, more than just costumes anyway.

Whether or not it's fair to keep certain sports locked under a pass is what we should be discussing

I like how buying a helicopter ticket to get to where you want to go is a thing.

Otherwise trudge your plebe arse up that hill, you peasants!

Stop being poor!
I was like wtf on this too. I literally just cancelled my preorder after seeing that... Complete Bs. I'll wait till it's 20 bucks in 3 months.

Thats the whole point of the thread. OP is apparently confusing ppl. The bullshittery that is locking 4 sports behind a DLC paywall in a game wth only a few sports to begin with is absurb. I hope Ubi loses a boat load of money on this game.

This is a strange one, do they really think a snow boarding game is going to have the legs or playerbase to turn off other impulse buyers in this way.

I saw the advert for it on PSN and thought the screen shots looked nice and it would look good on my new 4K TV, but not to the point where I would be interested in paying full price for it.

If I don't even get all the options that should be there without buying a "season pass" I won't be buying at budget either.

I didn't watch the video. I also appear to have missed the last image. The first ones were just cosmetics and challenges and credits, none of which ever seems like a big deal? The most substantial content there is just the cosmetics. Got no problem with this. Would rather have this than "AWW YEAH ANOTHER SIX HOURS OF GAMEPLAY FOR A FIFTY DOLLAR SEASON PASS" that WB pulled off with Arkham Knight, y'know? Cosmetics I can hold off on.

So this is your view

cosmetics = substantial content
game modes/extra sports = minor contnet

Was looking forward to it, but the alpha or beta really put me off. The game just didn't feel right and it was boring.
I'm still willing to pick it up for super cheap later on though, say ÂŁ10-ÂŁ15.

I think that's the point, it just didn't come across in the OP. I have no problem with paying for extra costumes the team puts effort into after creating the game, but I do have an issue with paying for "Helicopter tickets". I mean, when you buy the game you should be able to put that Helicopter wherever the fuck you want in the game, not buy virtual tickets to move an in game asset that you already paid for. Now that's stupid.

The hell are you talking about? I cancelled my pre-order.
Did you read the bolded?

I didn't email anyone, I cancelled my order so Ubisoft doesn't get my money.
I'm not supporting this nonsense from Ubi.

How else can I speak? Only with my wallet. So I am.

Didn't that poor girl die doing mocap for this? Couldn't even put out a non-predatory game to honor her legacy, eh Ubisoft smh
She died shooting an ad for the game. Nothing really to do with the development team.

As far as the "sports" people are referring to , they are nothing more than extensions of what's already in the game. They aren't part of the game's core at all. Just fun little side diversions to goof off with.

Those who know what Steep is and what the game's about also know that this is a non issue.

Lol this poor game. Looks fine to me. The core game certainly doesn't look to be light on content, and this is a relatively inexpensive season pass that offers enticing, yet completely inessential bonuses.

I don't know why everyone's out to shit on this game, it's not like we're swimming in extreme sports games these days. You don't need to believe it's going to be the best game ever, but feigning some sort of outrage at a season pass as if it isn't the norm in 90% of games seems really weird to me. For someone to be really, truly angry about this seems like a severe lack of awareness about the videogames industry in 2016.

I'm not completely sold on this, but I thought the beta was super promising. I definitely want it to succeed though, as it's one of my favorite genres, that's almost completely nonexistent anymore.

I was referring to the hashtag.

The game's first mistake was trying to be everything that it is. I like nice graphics and all, but this game could have used a more scaled down - stylized map design with simple gameplay controlling, like the snowboarding games from generations ago. Instead we got this stiff looking, boring ass visuals and not fun control game.

It's trying to be open world and classy, but nobody's gonna be attracted to that.

Cool visuals with groups of people tearing up the slopes while socializing and breaking their neck in awkward rag doll ways is what will bring the people, and keep the people.

The only good thing this game has going for it is music, just like with EA and their last need for speed game. They got some artist that are popular from YouTube.

Sounds like a bad deal.
