UDON announces Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works Artbook

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go ahead and pick this up.
Well fuck, I'm sold

This is great, I'm only going to SDCC for one day but I'll definitely hit up Capcom/Udon's booths for this. I'm not sure if I want to splurge for the hardcover, though. :/

FYI, no need to go to Comic-Con to get one. all their previous HC versions were eventually available at Capcom Store. I got all of the previous ones there.

Wow, they are even throwing in the Capcom Punisher game as well! Its great to see the secret files too.

Artbooks and manga translations are the two things I love UDON for. Pre-ordered!

I'm not really a fan/collector of artbooks and such, but I'm going to have to get this. It will be a nice companion alongside the UMvC3 new testament.

Preordered the softcover from Amazon, I had a 10 dollar credit from parts unknown, so 22.72 sounds like a great deal to me.

All too serious. I guess I should rephrase and say I'm not a fan of their art (HDR specifically being some of their worst imo), but others here would agree with the "crap art" statement.

I'm not sure I understand why, but that's just my opinion I guess. I think their art is of exceptional quality.

I think the sprites themselves tend to look pretty bad in HDR, but the portrait art looks good.

Yeah. Don't be surprised, but there's a VERY small minority of vocal GAF members who have had their dogs run over by Udon.

Now don't be equating me with TToB! That type of hate is his domain!

But yeah, I just think that UDON character art is too bulky and just...strange looking. The over exaggeration they do is taken a bit to far in many cases and just looks bizarre to me.

Part of me really wants this but $45 for the softcover alone seems pretty steep to me. I'll have to think about it.

The thing with Udon artbooks, is that they put pretty much every other artbook to shame. They translate the artist notes on each invidual drawing, and often go back to get commentary from the artists themselves to ask questions on particular games and characters.

Their artbooks are always worth the money. Even if they ship them months later than they're suppose to.

How would you compare them to say, Blizzard artboooks? I love my Blizzard artbooks.

Wouldn't Marvel Comics itself be the ideal company for this?

Dunno if want.
Truly spoken like a man who has never actually beheld an Udon artbook.

Their work is top notch.

Closest thing Marvel's done to pure artbooks are those DK guides with a third of the page count and a tenth of the art, hacked up and choked between walls of superfluous text and character bios. Is that more your speed?

Very, very nice - gotta definitely pick this one up since I looooooooooooove the Marvel vs titles art. Hot damn.

If this becomes a trend i wouldn't mind art books focused on other specific game series (SF Alpha, D&D, Final Fight, etc.).

It pretty much already is a trend. There are artbooks dedicated to Darkstalkers, Phoenix Wright, Resident Evil 5, Okami, etc., etc.

will b...$100?! ....be waiting for a sale.

That's just for the limited edition hardcover. Softcover can be pre-ordered now for $30. The hardcover will never go on sale. I imagine it'll sell out long before that happens.
