Not a great main event, but overall a decent card. GSP will likely get a lot less criticism for this fight than Anderson with the Thales Leites fight despite Leites being the one to instigate a lot of the inactivity.

I was impressed by Koscheck's wrestling (before he started to run forward wildly.) Hard to say considering the lack of it, but he might have had an edge over GSP. He definitely had more control when he was ontop compared to when GSP was.

Or swamp him in 11th round? GSP had an even more dominant performance against a less dangerous fighter and did nothing at all but jab. If your name isn't Liston you aren't trying to finish a fight with a jab.

GSP is even MORE conservative than Mayweather.

THIS. The rules of boxing forces fighters to use that Lennox Lewis style to be successful. There are so many ways to win in MMA and GSP has shown that he's excellent at all of them. That's what makes his fights so frustrating.

Nobody goes in looking for a decisions, but taking stupid risks just to finish a fight you are dominating is the number 1 rule in the scrub fighter hand-book. If an opportunity presents itself, then go for it, if not, keep dominating.

You don't take risks with fights you are handily winning. You just don't do it. It makes no sense. Think about it.

To be fair though, I do want to see GSP finish a fight. He hasn't in a while. Do I care if he doesn't? No. As long as he keeps on putting on these clinics, I'm more than happy. It would be nice though to see him knock out or submit a guy. He was so close the last fight.

No they aren't. Multi-division accomplishments have nothing to do with P4P. The P4P ranking was created for Sugar Ray Robinson to fully express how much better he was then everyone else at boxing. Since there were divisions he would never enter. And this is boxing, where division hopping is easy since there are so many weight classes.

The fact is, GSP is 5 foot 10 and doesn't cut a ton of weight. He is the model size of a WW. Anderson is the size of a LHW and can cut down to MW. GSP has no more fat to lose to cut down, and would be at a massive weight, and height disadvantage at MW.

That said, GSP could probably dominate the MW division easily. Honestly, after watching what Sonnen did to Anderson, I think he would easily handil Anderson as well.

No I didn't. I saw a guy ride two techniques against an outclassed opponent with a single weapon to a decision victory, even after he blinded the guy early. I've been watching MMA for almost 20 years now, and that's not even close to one of the best displays of striking I've seen. Fuck, I can point to at least a half-dozen Igor Vovchanchyn fights that were way more technical than that...and that's just Igor Vovchanchyn alone.

Well the opportunity wasn't really there. Yes his eye was swollen, but he wasn't rocked at all during the fight, and his right hook can still be devastating if landed... Also GSP didn't sit back, he was always pressing, and comboing...

I find the sport entertaining. I have found GSP entertaining in the past. That fight was not entertaining. There was lots of entertainment on the card, but the Main Event sucked, because GSP is too timid to risk anything, even when his opponent can't see for four rounds, and can't move around the ring for two and a half.

A) This isn't boxing. There are takedowns. Start taking stupid wild shots and you will end up on your ass.

B) You didn't box. In boxing they don't tell you to try and finish a guy if his eye is closed. They say continue punishing him and finish him when an opportunity presents it self.
