I hope this motherfucker snaps under all this questioning. The BBC are just taking the piss now.

Will of the british people blah blah blah

The responses from that Tory guy would have made perfect satire. The bending of answers around questions is ridiculous.

Lies, seems like a decent few of us did.

I did get up at 3PM though so yeah.

As a dirty liberal, how good/bad is a hung parlament instead of just having labour win?
And obligatory

let the lord of chaos rule

So what does a hung parliment mean, what happens next brown stays on? im lost.
Brown stays on, attempts to form coalition. If he fails, Cameron gets a chance, basically.

If neither of them have enough of a majority to successfully pass a Queen's speech outlining their plans on the 25th May, it's a vote of no confidence and it's time for a second election.

Short version, here's a longer version:

Well, we might actually see electoral reform and truly representative democracy
as well as no more majority Tory governments for at least a generation
this way.

I'm loving how Labour are just eking out the last few seats (increases the chance of an alliance with the Lib Dems). Conservative seem to have stalled for the time being - I just don't want them getting in goddamit.

Brown has a constitutional right to attempt to form a coalition government, if he can't, it falls to the tories to do the same, if they can't well... everything gets a bit hazy.

So a hypothetical Labour/LD Coalition is now tied with the Conservatives in seats.

The Coalition's total votes so far are: 14,034,746. Conservative votes are 9,905,574.

Cheers, cant see brown walking away quitely given how long he waited to takeover. Could be messy this.

Holy shit that sounds like a good thing, am I wrong?

Is it just me or does Mandleson sound like he's had a stroke? Not sleeping for a week probably does that to a person. He's making no sense.

People aren't suggesting that a lib-lab coalition could happen are they? Personally I don't want the tories to have any form of power, but a lib-lab coalition would be disgusting, you can't just ignore the party with the most votes.

Also this election was defined by anti-voting, massive tory gains from people wanting Labour out, and a massive shift away from Lib dem poll results - tactical voting for Labour from people who don't want the Conservative in. It's a mess.

Lib-Lab would have the most votes, as already pointed out:

Lib-Lab total votes so far are: 14,034,746.
Conservative votes are 9,905,574
:D

Like I said, the combined votes of a Labour/LD Coalition are more than the Conservatives received.

You see a Lib-Lab coalition would represent the majority of the country, a 37% Conservative minority government would not. Its not disgusting, Tories failed to reach the finish flag, its just how it goes. The people don't have confidence in Tories enough to run the country.

I don't think he needs to form an actual coalition, just get the support of parliament. The deal doesn't necessarily have to include inclusion in the government, so long as they vote with the government on confidence bills.

(note: I'm not British, but I am Canadian, and our system is essentially your system. Also note that we just went through a similar situation, and the public outcry against a coalition of the 'losers'/left was massive, incredible, and well organized. Don't be surprised if the same happens there, even if it seems in everyone's best interests)

Nick Robinson will be found face down in a ditch in the North of England tomorrow. Mandleson hath spoken.
