what are the fatalities like in MK Armageddon? I havent played it yet
Midway PR - all new Create-A-Fatality mode!
Fans - :o
Midway PR - well they aren't that customizable, you basically get to choose how to kill the opponent from a list of pre-made moves for you to combine!
Fans - :\
Midway PR - oh yeah, and all fatalities will be these create a fatalities. There are no unique character fatalities. No Sub-Zero freezing fatalities, no Raiden eletricution. All fatalities are punch, turn guy around, rip off arm, hit leg, pull off head fatalities. Yes even Sholin Monks had better fatalities in this game.
Fans - :(

EDIT - example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB4vcFlzSH8

:lol :lol :lol What a cop out. I knew there would be limitations from Midway when they said EVERY MK character ever. Why would I expect them to actually put some effort into it?

MKII needs to be on XBLA as soon as possible. Best fatalities in the series.

Jax's arm rip and head clap were great. I don't know what the hell Boon was thinking for his MK3 'grow-into-a-giant' fatality. :lol

Kreate a fatality sucks. They should have not bothered with all the stupid extra modes in it like KAF, Kart racing, and Konquest. That time should have been spent on full motion endings, REAL fatalities and making more stages. I buy fighting games for fighting, not kart racing.

In case people haven't seen it, MK1-MKG fatalities video:

No, that time should have been spent on making the game play much better, not removing a stance and making the game control even stiffer than before. I buy fighting games for fighting, not endings and fatalities that won't matter after you've seen them once or twice.

I like this fatality video better. Quicker and gets 6 games in there.

That's awesome, never seen that one before. Just watching it makes me even more disapointed with MKA.

Well I figured everyone already knew that the gameplay was bad.

Very true. I hated how fatalities got "silly" in MK3, and I was so happy about how BRUTAL MK Deception was. They had to **** up for Armageddon :(

It just seems how it goes MK2 brutal, MK3 silly, MK4 back to brutal, MK5 fricken afterthoughts, MK6 brutal again, MK7 laziness.

Armageddon as a game is an afterthought. They just pitched in ideas for Next-gen.

But next year will get a MK: Shaolin Monks Next gen, so all's good.

is this next gen shaolin monks only wishfull thinking or any truth to it?

oh, and i found the vs mode in shaolin monks much better than the latest mk installements

If I remember correctly, Ed boon said in an interview that we'd get one MK game every year...

Alternating between the Midway Los Angeles(Formely Paradox Development) and Midway Chicago(Ed boon Team).

Can I just ask why this game was taken down and then put up for a shortwhile, and why is a big deal/mistake by MS?

I'm glad they dropped one of the stances, to be honest - the combos that involved shifting stances mid-combo always struck me as kind of gimmicky. One stance per character and a unique weapon style strikes the right balance between adding diversity to the gameplay and throwing in shit just for the sake of doing it. I wouldn't have minded them broadening the moves lists for each stance, though, and I definitely agree with you about the stiffness. (Though I really hope developers don't pay you any mind when it comes to endings - beating a fighting game with each character to see the endings is one of those things that I enjoy, and will get me to learn characters that I otherwise might never bother with. Bad enough that they skimped on the endings and skipped the bios altogether - don't encourage them to cut story elements down even more! :p )

Its always strange when you finally run into someone who knows what they're doing. I have 5 losses, one when I accidentally picked Sub Zero, and the other 4 were against this guy I kept facing with a mean ass Sonya.

**** - Millenna, SubZero and Ermec are gone AGAIN! I left the natural way and they were still there when I left and came back to the game. Now the next day they're gone again.

Are you sure you're losing the characters? I've noticed that whoever is hosting the room controls which characters are available. So if the person who created the room hasn't unlocked them, they won't be there.

If you create a room are the characters still not there?

Ok you know what's weird? I played my downloaded trial again and today it seemed arcade perfect. Remember me saying it seemed busted the day it came out? I don't know why or what happened, but its all smooth and crisp now in ways it wasn't on that first day. Totally weird and I got no explanation for it.

On saturday I was playing Kung Lao, and for whatever reason I still remembered his 7hit combo, and could pull it off no problem. I played some guy, and he was so angry he resorted to say that I should play him Killer Instinct and we'll see what happens. :lol

Ok buddy. Lets just fire KI right up and get on that.

They aren't there in 1 player mode either.

Don't count on the next Shaolin Monks to be good. The head designers of the game left Midway and are now working on God of War 2.

How the hell do you get back to the main menu? :(
Pause > Exit Game. It will then take you to the main UMK screen that has Arcade, Live, Achievements, Options, etc. Then go down to the bottom and select the exit game option. That should save the Ultimate Kombat Kodes.

So I unlocked Millena again and exited normally. Then went back in, still there. Reset the system, still there. Exited through the dash, still there. So I can't figure out exactly why this game sporatically forgets the characters are unlocked.

those fatalities look lie that shitty time fighters game where you could cut off peoples arms/leg etc.

the sound effects in the character selection screen sounds like the quake 3 sounds. funny.

anyhow, i suck at this game. i'm prolly the only one in the world who loved MK 1 and hated 2 and beyond. it's just i had the timing DOWN for part 1 and it sped up. they also seemed to make some of the controls kind of laggy feeling to me. anyhow, 1 was really strategic at a high level, but 2 and beyond just threw so much shit (characters and moves, etc) that it became horribly unbalanced.

i still can't stay away though... but i hate how sub looks without his mask. anyone wants some easy wins look me up tonight... cause i just don't have the timing.

Awesome. After only playing a whopping six or so ranked matches, I'm met with more bad feedback. It's Hyper Fighting all over again thanks to butthurt retards who suck at fighting games.

I really ****ing hate XBOX Live.

Yeah, I finally got some feedback. I'm unsporting, apparently :lol

This is why I never touch ranked mode. I do it just to get some achievements, but after that, head on to the 4 player mode. Its basically an extremely stable quarter mode. MK isn't a game where you're supposed to meet a person, fight, and then leave. The fatalities are designed to have fun with friends, and have you laugh when you see your character get blown up. Competitively, it can piss some people off.

If you put in the UKK once, do you get to keep the characters for good? I can't remember how that works.
Yes but you have to exit out of the game through it's menus. If you use the 360's menu to shortcut to the dashboard it doesn't save. I just paused and quit then exited out of the main UMK menu that has Aracde and Live selections.

Arne,,, please....can you make contact the people who ported this game and tell them to please release a patch that fixes the problems?

Can't save unloackable characters.

No button config.

No Practice mode.

Online stage is only Scorpions Lair, unless you use codes.

Not saving characters is inexcusable

Not being able to configure your controls is inexcusable

They need to patch this. why aren't people writting Midway and Digital Eclipse?

Practice mode is needed badly! I'm tired of turining on both controllers just to practice combos. And when I can't get the timing, the round is over before you know it.

Same for fatalities. Practicing fatalities would be nice. No wonder this game took so many quarters. :lol

BUT FOR KREISSAKES PATCH IT

Otherwise it's a fantastic and fun game! Online is simply the beez' kneez!!!

After you do a combo, your run meter drains so you can't really keep the pressure up. When mixing it up, you think I should get less damage but something that doesn't use up the run button, keep the pressure on so I can mix it up.

yeah, thats another glitch i forgot to mention

Ok, after playing this since release, how come in single player I only seem to play on the same levels over and over. It keeps recycling the UMK3 added levels, and doesn't ever go to the original MK3 stages. Why? Is this happening to anyone else?

It's the same thing over and over. Portal, Hell, Desert, River, Kahn's Kave.

Can't save unloackable characters.

Mine saved just fine.

The 360 Dpad really, really sucks though. Wow...

It's amazing how not even the simpliest air-juggles can be completed on that thing. I can barely pull off Sindel's B&B. Kabals? gtfo.
