Just finished on hard. :D

Not sure whether to get treasures or try crushing. Hard wasn't bad at all.

I did the same thing today. I had less than 60 treasures, though, barely over half. There are a hell of a lot of these things! This game was a sensational thrill ride. They made a game in just under two years that looks, sounds, and feels like they spent two or three times that span. Incredible!

Finally finished wow, amazing game!

I will catch flak for this though: UC1 final boss > UC2 final boss
spoiler:
the escape section right after the boss made up for it though :O

D: my GOD, it's like they crammed all the really bad parts back to back. I hated the
escort part, hanging part, train yard and train. I need to take a break, this game has annoyed me more in a day than the first ever did :/ The train was the most annoying part of a game I've played this year, if you leave out ALL of x-blades.

You're mental. The train was probably the most amazing portion of the game so far (i left off at 22). If there is one thing I noticed is that the gunplay and overall combat is a lot less frustrating and tedious than the first game. Enemy encounters are more spaced out and I find them a lot more fun this time.

screw you hippie, have you read anything I've posted in this thread?
I loved the first one and love UC2 up until
Jeff died
but the last 3-4 section in a row and just been a bizarre trial and error mess.
The train was really tedious IMO, I didn't enjoy it. The damned
helicopter was just too much. I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have to screw with it
It's a technical master piece, but after the last few parts, I'm thinking about how much more simple UC1 was and that's not a bad thing.

I was kidding.

But I do feel like you won't find any love posting about
how much you disliked the train sequence
in this thread. Even on Hard I basically just
used a shotgun/pistole and ran through that entire section. If you kill the enemies as they emerge from doorways instead of waiting till they hop on your car, its much easier too.

This is one of the things that made Batman: Arkham Asylum a terrific game - great, great pacing in between the combat sections.

I totally disagree about the combat. You are constantly being attacked except for exploring the one temple I was in. I think Drake even comments a few times about how constant the attacks are.

About the train:
I was shotgunned back off the car by a hidden enemy 3 times. I would be running and a guy jumps out from a hiding spot and hit me once and I fell. It's felt like total trial and error. As soon as I knew where everyone was I beat it no problem.

Don't say that. This killed the first game for me and they've been so good about it in the first 5 chapters of UC2. :(

eh, just my opinion. I also think 2 is much much harder than one. I totaled one on crushing with only around a dozen deaths. I'm on hard and I think I'm in the 30's for deaths so far. The enemies are never all attacking from one side like the first IMO. You can't use any cover because there's a guy behind you with a rifle all the time.

Don't worry, its well-paced throughout.

The hype in this thread really doesn't do the game justice. You just have to play it to understand it.

There's a lot of combat in the game, a lot. Sorry.

I don't have a problem with that if they kept their opening section "promise" and keep it open enough to allow you to stealthily take down a lot of those enemies. My problem with the first game wasn't that there was too much combat, necessarily, but that you could only ever get through it by shooting everybody in your way.

Don't worry, that isn't true. There are multiple sections where you don't fight anything and do platforming and puzzle solving. The pacing is great. But don't misunderstand; this is an action game, and there's plenty of gunplay. You do get some breaks, though. A chapter past the midway point in particular was a very nice break.

Is that the section Eurogamer highlighted in their review? Some village?

Can't wait to get there. Sounds really nice. I wanted Uncharted 1 to have some of those moments. The game is so damn striking and beautiful on a visual level that they can easily have scenes where you're not doing much but just walking around and staring at scenery.

Then you will enjoy this more. Since 99% of the time you will have a companion with you to draw their fire stealth take downs are always an option. The extra ammo is a welcome bonus too. Be forewarned. Towards the tail end of the game the enemies get unnaturally aware and will focus solely on you. It is annoying that the game kinda falls apart in the third act.

Many areas in the game allow you to stealth your way through it. With the way the enemies and cover are placed, the game is basically telling you "silently kill as many people as possible then go guns blazing after".

Yeah, I worry about this. I was luke-warm about the first game. The mechanics weren't good enough to carry constant combat. I hope there's more variety and more polished shooting in this one.

Sounds good. :) Well, cept for the third act thing. :P

Time to get back into Chapter 5 and see what's up!

I also don't remember Sully being quite this awesome in the first game. Love that character.

There are quite a few areas where it rewards you with fewer enemies or a shorter sequence if you stealth kill the entire room instead of alerting them. I found a few areas frustrating though, because you could only kill so many before it would trigger the new enemy spawn anyway. Seemed kinda pointless to encourage the stealth kill if the spawn was planned from the get-go. But these are few and far between.

It's quite possible that's what I was referring to. :lol That and the next chapter. I don't want to say any more, though. I had something major spoiled for me by a website and don't want to do that to anyone else. Just know that you get a few breaks from gunplay when you really start to need them.

The separation between combat and exploration/puzzle sequences is better than in UC1, I think. And the train sections were only tedious to me because of the strict, almost trial and error path you're required to use. Still was fun and looked gorgeous.

I was about to get mad, but then I remembered that I'm owed that shot for the resistance thread:D yeah I really didn't like it.
The best part to me so far was you and sully fighting early in the game

I just read his post and was thinking very hard of wtf he was talking about. Only thing that pisses me off about Sully in this game is that he isn't that much in it.
More sully is always good, but I'm glad they didn't go throw him in longer without a good reason. The little speech he made was dead-on why his appearance is short.

bizarro world. That was my least enjoyable moment.

Pretty much the entirety of
Nepal
and the
Tibetan village
are my favs. This is where the game leaps from grade- A action title (which it always is) to genre defining masterpiece.

It's not a spoiler - he's not referring to Sully. Just another contender for "best sidekick"... whom you should all know by now if you've played the beta:
Tenzin
.

So I am a chapter 8:
I'm inside the room with the statue and I'm looking at my notes. I see a word scribbled out:

Vajrakīla

I googled it and I end up at this wikipedia page:

So so so bloody awesome. I love the feeling of discovery. I'm a crazy curious person and man do I ever appreciate Naughty Dog's attention to detail and effort.

I love this shit.

Why the hell are people complaining about not putting spoiler tags on the post...and then quoting the post without spoiler tags?!?

I'm outta this thread.
