Uncharted won the "Best of E3" award, it's the highest rated game this year, it's the most beautiful game ever on a console and it redefines narration on this medium. It's not really what we can call a flavor of the week. Not even close.

Hmm, yea that's really low. In fact, first beta had about that number as well at times. On the other hand, UC2 is the first and maybe only game I've seen about half of my friends list playing at the same time last night (10 people or so). I don't think that has happened since MGS4, and probably not even then.

I hate the camera in this game. Hate it with all my being.

What the hell? It's practically perfect for this kind of game. I don't think it bothered me one single time. It has nice smooth movement, nothing feels janky about it whether when you move it or, every once in a while, when it automatically highlights something you're supposed to be looking at.

Thats all lovely, but not what I meant. GAF will have moved onto another game two weeks from now, and hence, the flavour of the week moniker. I wasnt taking a jab at the game - I loved UC1, and havent started UC2 yet - but rather the nature of the beast.

Last week it was Demon's Souls because last week is when that game came out and people got to play it without importing the Asian version. This week, it's still Demon's Souls - the vast majority of people simply haven't played it yet.

Yes, but this game has critics to back it up.

Everybody can have an opinion. Point out the flaws if you see them as that.

But people should be allowed to be blown away by their favourite hobby and express their excitement. Playing something for the first time is always going to be more enjoyable than the second, where you might be more synical.

Reviews and impressions should embrace that feeling of newness. It's entertainment remember, and people are playing to be entertained.

Eh, I had issues with it. Rolling instead of taking cover. Not transferring from cover to cover correctly. Watching Drake 'warp' to ledges which looked unreachable. Struggling with ladders. Etc.. That game is truly epic though, in terms of presentation and story, there's no denying that. I guess at the end of the day though I'm all about the gameplay.

don't worry, i know that you're no trolling or anything and if yiu have some issues in the game than it's fine with me.

but for me.. there are issues in every game. and this game just has very very few.. the gameplay to me is top knotch... i've played a lot of games. this is one of the very very best i've ever played. nt one of the most original... hell no. but just polished and with a level of detailed attention to every aspect that i've only encountered in the best games out there.

Normally I'd agree, but I can safely say that no game will come out between now and December 31st that will change my mind on what the GOTY is this year. Demon's Souls is certainly the best game I've played all year, and Borderlands and yet another Call of Duty game won't change that.

The only thing that stands even a remote chance is Dragon Age: Origins, and it would have to surprise the hell out of me to do so.

I do like Uncharted 2 a lot, though. It's much better than the first game. Even the gunplay has grown on me a lot this time around - they definitely worked on that facet of the gameplay and there's more feedback to the player now. I've been having more fun with it than I expected to.

If you get close enough you can kick them off the ledge before they pull you off. Just press square.

Yeah I've been checking the MP and have never seen the users online count go above ~8,500 yet (and this was during peak times). It's even had as little as 2k players at times. That seems really low.

Well to be fair, Demon's Souls has gotten plenty of critical acclaim as well. Which is impressive considering how absurdly niche it is compared to Uncharted.

I dunno if either will be my personal GOTY, but they are certainly both up there.

i feel sad that the ride is slowly coming to an end, somehow the game feels shorter than the first, the whole section with the tank was broken up well.

You have the same range as they do to perform a kick off, it just comes down to who is quicker. My tactic is to run up to them but stop short so they try a pull down then move in and do the kick off. Grenades also work wonders. If you can get a higher vantage you can shoot them, but not if the ledge is on the same plane as you.

Only some cutscenes are rendered to video, the ones which you can choose in the cutscene viewer, shorter versions are usually ingame.

I played up till chapter 7 or something last night. The Nepal area feels alot like the first chapter of MGS4 to me. I really enjoy it. The Hotel level was nothing short of amazing. Some of those vistas out from the top are the best graphics I've ever seen. It's what I was hoping Assassin's Creed would look like.

I agree. It gave me MGS4 vibes as well on that part. And I think they may have out-warzoned MGS4. Maybe it's just the awesome graphics that make me feel that way, but regardless it actually made me want to pop in MGS4 again after I finish this just to compare.

The camera angles this game uses are excellent.

Am getting both later on this month. I will start of with Uncharted and finish the rest of the year with Demons Soul's. Having read the Demon's Souls thread after the game launched in N.A and following this thread, I just find a lot of 'genuine' excitement in the demon's soul thread than in this one but that might be just me.

The village area. Being able to say hello and shake everyone's hand as you greet them (I just pressed Triangle to see what would happen, and to my suprise, handshakes! :lol ), petting the Yaks :lol, kicking the soccer ball back to the kids, then finding the children hiding from you behind the wall "gotcha!"

Great touch to an already perfect game.

Uncharted 2 is beyond the GOTY status. It is a contender for the top 5 games ever. I don't see hyperbole in the praise this game gets, it's just incredible.

So I finished playing last night at the start of ch 21. Every thing in this game is just so over the top I can't help but love it. I see that a few people are complaining about the platforming but why? Do you not try to immerse yourself in the game or something? I don't care how automatic it may be, the way ND makes the set pieces magnifies the experience x100. Every jump is a jump for Nathan's life, every time I finish a section I'm thinking "Wow, that was insane, balls of steel".
