There's no way anyone is beating Uncharted 2's train level. Not. A. Chance.

I gotta hand it to them, that was one SPECTACULAR sequence. How they managed to program the backdrop progression, while advancing over the train is beyond me.

That whole sequence was breathtaking. An absoloute rollercoaster.

End Game Spoilers
though the final boss battle with Lazarebitch was more open that U1's boss battle I feel like they could have done more with it.

I wonder what it would have been like if Drake had accidentally taken a sip and he and Lazarevic went head to head and tore the place down baah no that's a silly idea :lol

I am also a bit underwhelmed by the ending, maybe it was bc I was hoping Elena would somehow almost die and had to be brought back with some of the tree of lifes "magic".
But it was good to see her and Drake together at the end of this one, never did like the Drake & Chloe thing though she is hot and her chemistry would work with anyone.

Just my 2 cents I still love the game very much and would say the best SP I have experienced since the Sands of Time.

Flynn is a good character, makes me sad that Eddy Raja was so underused. He was great for his limited time :lol

I think we are going to see more of Eddy in the motion comic prequel. Rika Raja (old girlfriend of Drake?) is in it and Eddy is her brother right? Kinda explains why Drake gave a shit when Eddy died in Drake's fortune.

You will want it to end when the grinding for trophies begin :lol

Are you talking about the ice mountain or the one in the jungle?

Ice one, it was so beautiful I wanted to spend some time working my way up it.

Top of the hotel is definitely the best view I've ever seen in a console game.

Fun stuff but I think Demon's Souls will remain my GOTY at this point.

Okay, two big questions re: Crushing, people:

(1) Is it possible to beat the chapters on 'Crushing' out of sequence and still unlock the trophy? For example, I beat Lazarevic on Crushing and now I'm going back and cherry-picking chapters at random. When I do them all on crushing, will the trophy unlock? Or wil I have to do mission 26 again to activate the trophy?

(2) Has anyone else had the problem that Chapter 8 (or any other chapter) won't register as having been completed on 'Crsuhing' even though you've done so? I have played through that level on crushing numerous times and it just will not register as having been beaten on Crushing. Any suggestions?

Only into Chapter 6, but Holy shit, this is epic. This game has everything. Beautiful visuals, brilliant game play, great story, awesome voice work. It's the total package.

Can you guys create a separate pics thread so that you dont spoil us who havent played it yet? I mean, jesus. The game has been out for only 4 days.

I thought you were a smart guy. Do the smart thing and get the fuck out of this thread until you're done with the game. :P I did.

Well, sure, normally I would have bailed by now, but this has actually been a really good thread so far, people have used spoiler tags, and I havent had anything spoiled yet (there was one fake spoiler, and then a UC1 spoiler, but nothing about UC2 yet), so I thought Id be safe to keep on reading for non-spoilery thoughts.

But if this is about to turn into a picture spamming thread, then yeah, time to go.

Finished the game late last night. Loved every minute of it.

that Elena and Drake conversation at the end had me rolling

also Drakes book where he lists Sully's moustache as scary

small details but great

Uncharted 2 GOTY 2009? not sure, we already have Killzone 2, inFamous, SFIV, Demon's Souls... and MW2 has yet to come (though I hate the CoD franchise with all my heart and soul seems like all the kids love it). I guess my vote will go to KZ2, 500+ hours and memorable GAFe games will never be forgotten.

/offtopic

I played all of the biggest games of '09. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the game of this console generation, man. But there are no awards for that unfortunely, so it must settle for game of the year :(

At Chapter 25 everything has been great, I'm loving the game.

I did not like the
3 bullet spunges(Shambalah security guards) at the end of Chapter 4, hopefully Lazerovic takes care of them because I kept dying too much.

Yep yep. Single player games are usually much more important to me than online but KZ2 was something else. 500+ hours and so many great memories, so much love blossoming! :lol Plus KZ2 single player was pretty damn good as well. Love the gunplay more than any other shooter.

So U2 has a really tough sell for me, but I'm expecting it'll blow me away. Plus U2 online grew on me a lot at the end of the Beta tho I was starting to get a little bored of it. The co-op is what I'm looking forward to playing with you guys the most.

Anyway, as soon as I'm done watching the Man Utd game it's U2 time!!!

I think the melee needs to be reworked in MP. I rarely have a time were the other play and I both don't die in our melee battle.
Run and gun at them and only then melee your enemy, works most of the time.

Agreed. You'd think pulling away to shoot would give you an advantage but you'd lose out the melee.

I just finished my Crushing run, what an amazing game. But I think the game is a little too easy now. The stealth is too easy, the enemies are almost deaf and blind, I understand that it's not MGS or Splinter Cell, the stealth is here to engage the combat and give you a little advantage, but you can abuse it too much.

Well, I'm kinda disappointed by the challenge, but it was fun as hell, so they certainly made a good choice :lol GOTY indeed.

What I don't really like though is treasure hunting. I don't have a problem with treasure hunting per se. But the platforming is so random in Uncharted, sometime stuff are definitely reachable, but since it was scripted that way, you can't access the area. Some other area seems way too far and yet, you can jump there, because the devs felt like you could. It results in a lot of trial and error. Well, it's just optional, and some treasure are pretty well hidden, but I can't help but feel like it's just a cheap way to enhance the lasting value.

They should also improve the melee for the next Uncharted, it doesn't feel great at all, it's just cheap QTE as it is, and the animations aren't that great. They lack some punch, it's too obvious that they've mocaped by actors. They should hire Jacky Chan or something :lol

Enough with the pics please, it's getting a bit itchy spoiler wise. The locations are known, sure, but it's better safe than sorry and just link all of them and keep the SPOILER CHARACTER in front of things.

Holy shit. I haven't even started the game and I already wanna buy the Soundtrack. :lol Just head the music from the game's screen in the main menu of the PS3.

Where can I buy this thing? :/

Just finished the game on normal. Really awesome game. I can't say if it's GOTY yet though. This year has seen so many great games and there's still some left. But atm it's a toss between Batman: AA and Uncharted 2.

Now I'll put the game down for a while since the multiplayer isn't working for me. I also have Demon's Souls left unopened which I'll dive into shortly.

It seems like iTunes is the only place carrying it, havent seen if it can physically be bought in stores. Nates Theme 2.0 (the menu music) is awesome!

I like how he put SPOILER in the caption AFTER the picture loads. Genius.

I think I preferred the
truck-jumping sequence.
Also,
the hotel/helicopter sequence.

I think those three are the most intense, bad ass gameplay moments this gen.

Idea for Uncharted 3

FFXIII + Uncharted mashup

Sully x Osaka Whore save the universe from scantily clad jungle pirates

I can't believe the lighting in the
temple where you have to aim the mirrors into their designated areas. HOLY SHIT the way how the lighting reacts to that giant pink face. It's like CGI quality.

If Halo is a stretch than that's even more so.
Halo 1 and 3 are, specifically, almost the exact same thing that happens at the end of this game. Quickly crossing a flat plane as it falls apart under you. It was the first thing that came to my mind. I guess the difference here is that you're running and only in a straight line? Whatever.

I played through the game on Hard and liked most of it despite not liking the first game much at all. They completely fixed the horrible gunplay, and adding the stealth takedown stuff added enough variety on top of that to make the game significantly more fun for me to play.

Also the story (including its presentation, the acting, the music and so on) was even better than in the last game where, for me, it was the only saving grace. The characters were all charismatic and interesting. A solid step above most games.

They still need to fix the platforming though. As someone has said on the previous page, platforming needs rules. You need to know that you can always jump a certain distance, and always grab on to a certain type of ledge. It might be harder to do it that way but if you don't then the platforming just doesn't hold together. Drake seems to change his jump distance whenever convenient. Grab onto certain types of ledges only when that is the one way to go. The unpredictability of this isn't fun. Seeing as they managed to fix the gunplay this time, hopefully they can work on the platforming for the next game.

Overall though I really enjoyed it, which was a pleasant surprise after the first game. Maybe not game of the year for me, but one of the best nevertheless.
