Oh and I didn't have that issue with that line off pixels showing at the edges of the black bars on my 1080p TV with "Full Pixel" enabled, if whoever it was is still wondering about that issue. (UK copy)
Got the 100k for having a completed Uncharted saved file as well with no problems.
I'll probably leave the SP until 2moro but I'll play a bit online tonight I think.
I get it. 720p on a 1080p Bravia with Full Pixel enabled.
Last boss spoiler
Personally, worse last boss than the first game. Nearly ruined the whole thing for me, almost switched the game off and thought "fuck it" to completing the game. Did not enjoy it at all.
I can't see PS3 not benefiting tremendously from this game. I could be wrong, but I have strong feeling PS3 's fate will change heavily after Uncharted 2. It's already happening in my circle: my friends now want a PS3.
I thought I was the only one! I had that exact same thought! It totally gave me a Shenmue vibe just walking through the village. It would be cool if someone made another Shenmue-like game where the majority of the game is just you exploring an interesting environment with hand-made beautiful graphics.

Bought it yesterday, played from 9pm until 3am, then got up and played until I finished it this afternoon.
According to the in-game played timer, took me almost exactly 10 hours (on normal).
Loved it, improved over the first game in just about every way.
Halved the amount of tear my hair out annoying battles :lol . Cinematically beautiful.
Really well-written (95% of the time, occassional cheesy/ un-necessary clichés).
One problem with the game that annoyed me from start to finish.
WTF was with Chloe's (and to a lesser extent Elena's) eyes? Seriously, did she one day have her eyeballs scraped out and have to get glass replacements?
It was so jarring in such an otherwise fantastic looking game. I'm honestly baffled by how obviously out of place their eyes look. Nate's (and the other male characters) look fine, great even.

Elena tells you to be subtle and you have to climb down the tower to open the gate for her. I was trying to hard to stealth kill all of the guards instead of sneaking by them.
Funny thing is that you can actually interact with the people. Definitely a nice touch.
*spoiler until chapter 22*
I'm so glad Elena is with Nate again. Her persona is much more loveable than Chloe's. Chloe is hot, but boring and very uninteresting. Elena should be the main chick in Uncharted 3
Wouldn't it be scary that after u beat Lazarevic, then u have to fight the guardians?
Anyways Don't anyone sometimes feel the waves of soldiers are a bit excessive? I cannot image how loyal these men are to Lazarevic. He must be very wealthy to employ so many men.

I'm not sure what chapter I'm in, in the teens, after the train sequence and I'm absolutely loving the game. My only compliant has to do with Naughty Dog's insistence at throwing in a handful of ultra linear sequences. These sequences are so linearly scripted that often I've found myself trapping myself in an awkward corner because I didn't follow it exactly right, or I'll find myself instant killing myself for some reason. Even though the train sequence is very cool at times, it's also pretty bad at other times for extreme linearity and instant deaths.
As well I still disagree on a fundamental level about how Naughty Dog opts for the "well it's just a game" method of handling realism. I realize we just had a massive thread on it, so I hope everyone gets what I'm talking about and we don't have to dwell on it too much. There is one notable sequence where you are running in a linear chase sequence and the entire time folks are firing at you. There's no real way to avoid bullets of course, since you're running, so the entire time you're slowly getting hit. Of course during the entire game you get hit by bullets, but it felt really, really awkward since it was obvious that at the end of the sequence you knew that you'd been hit a dozen times and there was no real way to avoid that. As well there was no real threat of danger since the whole thing felt so scripted.
At times I wonder if Naughty Dog still has issues figuring out if they want to make a movie or a game. Everything I really love about this game and series involves player control. I really love the exploration parts, the sense of wonder of moving through the environment and the dialogue. I also really love the open area combat sequences, since I think they go one step further than Gears of War and add in a bit of problem solving and exploration to the battles as well. I think the few linear sequences they have in the game are some of the weakest parts. I know what they're trying to do. They're trying to mime movies and have some crazy tense moment, but it's a video game, and really the most fun is when you're exploring it yourself. Honestly I'd rather have a short cut scene or have it handled some other way.
The realism brakes down in other areas as well for example
the train boss, who despite having no real armour to speak of can take everything you dish at him.
Later on as well I attempted to take down heavily armoured shotgun guys with a sniper rifle and was disturbed to find that it took 3 shots.
While Uncharted 2 took a step forward I think in obviously showing tougher baddies as heavily armoured troops and including riot shields, there is still a bit of weirdness.
When it comes to this area I think I just have to go with a sort of "agree to disagree" on it, since it's pretty obvious from Naughty Dog's comments that they don't have the same game design philosophy as me when it comes to how to handle more real life situations. It's ok. The game still plays great.

one moment I feel ND really missed out on, from a really cool dramatic tension point of view, is the
bit where Nate and Flynn are heading across the path to Shambala by themselves. It was the first time the two had had extended contact since the betrayal, they really could have done more with the dialogue between them. If you look at what's there, it's clear they tried, and are successful in places, but I'd imagine it could have been even more interesting.
Although their jokes were very funny, it could have been a bit more confrontational and dramatic, perhaps resolving some issues between them, because they did seem like friends in the beginning of the game. Actually I wasn't too thrilled with the direction they took with Flynn's character. He went from a decent dude and Drakes old friend to a stereotypical weasel type.
Just finished on hard. This was one of the first times I've started a game on hard for the first playthrough after an entire life of playing on normal. It will be my last as well. Hard is by no means impossible, 99% of the game is totally manageable but there are a few parts that after dying a few too many times just kills the experience for me. I beat the end boss on my second try, though. I've read some people having trouble with it on harder difficulties.
Amazing experience and I'm depressed as shit that it's over. Oh, and I liked the ending. Cute.
I totally agree. It was ridiculous in Uncharted 1. I kept thinking to myself, "where the fuck do these thug-looking idiots keep coming from?" The fact that they all looked the same didn't help either. At least in this game having all of them look the same isn't much of a problem since they are in military garb.
Still, I think the waves could have been handled a bit better. Maybe if it wasn't so transparent when the next wave got triggered it would have been more believable. They were a few occasions throughout the game where I saw enemies spawn out of thing air and that is never a pleasant experience.

You know I had a thought. In these games you are always walking around these places as ruins, it'd be really cool if they let you see them in all their functioning glory. It's a cliche but what if the artifacts you found gave you flashbacks to the cities/temple/old places heyday. If chapter 17 shows anything is that ND are willing to do unexpected things within the game.
Anyway just did my first MP game, playing Plunder, my team won. It took me a bit to get into the flow of things, but towards the end I was contributing quite well. Well more like in the middle, towards the end I went a bit kamikaze. I even managed to get the treasure to just outside the delivery point, using the throwing method. Unfortunately I was taken down at the last stretch, but one of my team mates managed the last few metres. Fun times.

Come next March, if Sony release a PS3 Slim with Uncharted 2 pack (keeping the RRP for a normal Slim), and release it in the same week as God of War III then they will make a killing. That would pull in any, if not all people still humming and hawing over getting one.

It kind of makes sense if you read about Eddy Raja but it wasn't really explained in game well why there were so many pirates. Uncharted 1 didn't really benefit from it's linear "path" design like UC2 does.
I think Uncharted would've worked better with a hub design ala Batman Arkham Asylum
Anyone breezing through hard for the most part? I passed crushing in the first game so I guess it's to be expected. I'm up to Chapter 17 now but I'm sort of disappointed in the difficulty. The visuals are stunning but it feels very autopilot! I will say, it is a perfect blend of cinematic feel and gameplay.

That would be a perfect storm. They could do this in Japan as well, GT5 would be out in March. (Unless they can bundle FF13 instead of Uncharted 2, which will be even better in Japan.)
Just played my first online game in the retail version. My team were level 1,1,3,5,6 against 11,17,11,13,6 I thought "oh great!"
Started off with an 11 kill streak and finished the game with 24 kills 4 deaths, their entire team only got 17 kills. They didn't know what hit them lolol
Is Uncharted's universe one where satellites and airplanes do not exist? In that wide open space of a well known mountain region lies a hidden city that has been secret all this time???? Really? That just doesn't sit right with me.
It's underground, and Shangri-La is apparently the Buddhist Heaven. Therefore it's safe to assume the location is secret because it's in another "dimension" or something to that effect

Last boss managed to raise my tension level as high as another other game has.
This one does not fizzle out at the end. If you believe it, it actually get's better. I know I didn't believe it when I was half way through. Even though it was awesome I was expecting some amount of fizzle. It never came. Naughty Gods indeed. Bought all the dev diary videos. Good stuff in there.
My roomies are film majors, and they actually sat down and enjoyed a half-hour's worth of cut scenes for this game. My suite mate said that his animation professor is a Naughty Dog junkie.
Ya I just finished the game and could not believe the facial animations on him. Overall this game was just great through and through. Amazing job Naughty Dog.
