I'm doing a crushing run now and so far it hasn't been too bad as long as you find a good cover spot, but I'm dreading that
tank part
because I died a ton of times on hard.

Huh. That's the only way I killed him too...the game even tells you to do this.

In this particular part of the game, the game is dumb. :P It takes for fucking ever that way. I was seriously getting flashbacks of Killzone 2 for a while. An awesome game that turns to shit right at the end because of a frustrating and ill-concieved final boss. Once I figured this little trick it was over in less than 3 minutes.

So how does the matchmaking work?

I noticed I got to play with two Americans (I'm in EU) in co-op, am I facing people from across the globe in competitive also?

My first game the other team seemed to be Mexican, and I'm also EU, so it seems to be international play. It was pretty smooth as well once it connected. During the match I had only 1 instance where a person suddenly skipped forwards because of lag.

The hardest part is
the last boss
.

It wasn't hard. I figured out what to straight off the bat. The most annoying thing was
running around in such a tight location, all the dumb obstacles that would always get you shot at least once or twice and close to death. Maybe that was "tension" but it was just frustration due to a dumb boss fight. I died a hell of a lot more on the train ride than anything else.

Not to mention you start out where you left off after the cutscenes. Once you have a path down you just go in a circle going from sap to sap weaking him. I was disappointed the final boss was little more than a ring around the rosy fight.

ya this is what i did too but didnt use my gun cause it didnt seem to do anything to him...i also tried a few grenades but they didnt seem to do anything more than 1 sap tree damage so i just stuck to my path and shot sap trees...

for me the tank part in the tibet village was the hardest to pass

matchmaking is so-so, it never matches me with anyone even remotely close to me. :P it should just look for anyone waiting on standby. I'm tired of waiting only to get hit by CONNECTION ERROR.

i enjoyed the final boss. yeah it was
tight corridor with obstacles....but it's the final boss. absolutely i would of enjoyed a more inventive boss fight/ending, but i'm glad it wasn't something i just rolled on through and beat in the first try

Just lost 100,000 points on survival with another buddy, we were almost at the end of round 10:/ In the beta we also lost at round 10 (goldrush) and I was less than a meter way from the chest holding the treasure:/

Well, I havent read any of the previous part of this thread but I just got through with an Uncharted 2 session and I just had to come post this before bedtime. There arent enough superlatives to lavish on just how good Uncharted 2 looks and plays. The game is ridiculous in the best of ways. I'm literally stunned at the increase in quality from the first game to the second game. Blown away, jaw left on the floor and giddy with delight. And I still have alot of game left!

What exactly is the difference between Normal ,Hard and Crushing, do you just take more damage or is there also more enemies etc. ?

It was super hard(and frustrating) at first, but I was doing it wrong.
Thought he could only get damaged with the sap-explosions...it was taking forever to kill him. :P
Oh God no wonder! I just turned the game off because
I kept shooting the resin til the whole area starts collapsing
did that like 10 times and just said forget it I'll do it later :lol

Cool interview with the Dogs

Eurogamer: Do you still play Dodgeball with Sony Santa Monica?

Justin Richmond: Actually, they've just started a league this week! What was the name of our team? Naughty Balls I think.

But again, we would do that with any other studio - actually, even non first-party studios: we talk to Infinity Ward a lot. We'll talk to anybody. If you want to talk to us, we'll talk to you.

It's really cool that we foster these relationships with these other studios, because actually you'll see in the multiplayer when the game comes out that all these other studios have tags. We have the paw for Naughty Dog, but Infinity ward and Insomniac and Guerrilla all have their own little tags too.

I have spotted some dogs but that was about it:O as anyone spotted another studio? If so post pics!

I rarely get more than one or two people with full bars... this would explain that I think. :P

I haven't played enough to say that my bullets are missing because of lag yet, but I can't imagine that I'm having an ideal ping rate.

Guess it'll improve once more people get online though.

Still wish I had a server browser...

Up to Chapter 18 on Crushing and they weren't kidding. Ugh.
Such an excellent game. The graphics still make me say wow. I died running around looking at stuff (train loop) when I shouldn't have been. :lol

Really interested to see what ND does next, I hope it's not U3 as awesome as this one was.

My friend after seeing the town in Chapter 16 was like "jesus I really wish Naughty Dog made Zelda" and I wouldn't mind either.
It'd be so epic and beautiful and my little mind can't take the possibilities.

Got it yesterday, beat it today. I have never used so many swear words in a positive sense while playing a video game.

Wow wow wow wow wow. Incredible game.

I could go for Uncharted 3 on a BD-50 with better cutscenes and more co-op maps or maybe even single player challenge maps.

I have to say this game is easily my favorite PS3 game. It seemed like the whole play through I was talking to myself about how awesome thing things I was doing were.

I also want a PSP Uncharted with a younger Victor GODDAMN Sullivan as the main character. Immediately. This game did not satisfy my craving for Sully action!
I would not mind a game with Sully as the main character, either at the age he is now, or much younger. I would also like a game where Elena is the main character, cause she is definitely my second favorite character after Drake himself. Though, I wouldn't want these on the PSP, I would want them on the PS3. I really wonder what Naughty Dog is going to do after Uncharted 3.

Just finished it today. While it's undeniably a great movie, I think Uncharted 2 is seriously overrated as a game. Far too linear, far too limited. I spent a lot of time not as the character trying to figure out where to go or how to solve a problem, but rather as a player trying to figure out how the developer wanted me to solve a problem.

As a shooter it's ok, but didn't seem terribly special and the cover mechanics are just as wacky as any other game I've played with them. Overall, a solid A as a narrative experience, but an unremarkable B for gameplay.

Yeah, that wouldn't be bad. I'm sure they could do it and that Sony will be pushing them to do it, but I would like them to take a stab at a new genre. Like a Zelda style game. :D

And yeah the cutscenes were a bit of a letdown. They hit their stride in terms of poses, animation, and composition about 3/5 through the game though and when it was good it was really good.
Something has got to be done about the hyper glossy eyes and static camera at times though. Only obviously "bad" parts of the game and the latter especially is bad to appeal to newbs to the series.

Any one following their multiplayer stats on Naughtydog.com? How accurate is it? Can't be too accurate as it says I've racked up over 400 kills but only played for 22 minutes.

The time sections seems broken, everything else is pretty much as it happens.

Just started a fresh new playthrough on hard. God, I love the animation in this game. Its totally surreal.

The museum level especially, when the guards are looking with the flashlights. I actually shot a guards with the tranquilizer gun and thought I missed, and thought "oh shit..." and then realized he was struggling/fighting against the tranquilizing toxin.

Also, its absolutely staggering how they've spoiled every single level for details. The level may be 1 or 2 levels long but the attention to detail and polish is mindblowing. That to me is a truely fantastic accomplishment. I gave me the feeling that I never knew when the level/section would end due to the quality in art direction and design.

The unexpected blasts and shocks were so awesome too :lol. Talk about taking advantage of almost every opportunity.

Boss fights/unique encounters this time around were fucking amazing. A momumental step above the previous game.

Gunplay is ENORMOUSLY improved over into the sequel, it felt alot more tense and vicersal with the recoil and unstable aiming, really making gun fights extremely intense for me.

I wouldn't mind that either but with less cutscenes that break the awesome illusion that is present in this game.

How do the points work in multiplayer? Like how many points = $$$$

I'm major OCD and MUST BUY EVERYTHING IN THE SINGLE/MULTI STORES!!!!! It's going to take ages.

no cutscenes = no dialogue/storytelling and it wouldn't be as effective. The game needs it. I loved watching all the cutscenes.

It's $250 per kill, then there are other bonuses you get for doing specific things (breaking someone's streak, going on a streak yourself, killing two people quickly, throwing someone off a ledge, etc).

Here a list of mine: http://www.naughtydog.com/stats/medals/NeoLeech

Naughty Dog definitely did their research on
Tibetan Mythology
.

The blue-skin humans actually tie in with how divine avatars are depicted in Tibetan art. Blue skin is supposed to represent divinity.

There are a whole bunch of things that I won't get to (ie. prayer flags, the rotating cylinders, etc)... but the one thing that really struck me was how right they got a lot of the mythological figures and artwork. Even in the Ice Cave, when the stone statue turns to reveal a "demonic" figure. That's right out of Tibetan mythology with the whole serene/wrathful forms. The last corridor to Shambala with the dark ominous atmosphere and a sudden serene landscape was a nice touch too.

Oh and Karl Schaefer was a homage to actual historic events, and, as I have alluded to in previous threads, based off of an actual person. The SS did send an expedition to Tibet in search of the supernatural.

Unfortunately, I'm not a real expert on Tibetan mythology, so someone more experienced should do an analysis.

Well, you just made this game way more interesting than it already was for me. So, yeah, if anyone else has anymore information like this, I would love to read about it.

Maybe it includes co-op kills? I'm sporting a hefty 13+ in my K/D ratio, and that's certainly not from DM.

I hope that's the case, otherwise I'll just obsess over that damn stat.

I meant less "movie" based cutscenes during gameplay segments that break the flow of things.

The harder the difficulty, the less damage you can take, the more damage the enemies can take, and the more the game tones down the auto aim.

The connection errors in Co-op are annoying. Get to the end and boom connection error. Have not been able to finish one game of co-op yet.

Based on the puzzles in the Uncharted games, I hope they don't.

It's so fucking brilliant. So far, Uncharted 2 is easily the best game I've played this generation.
I wholeheartedly agree. I'm only on Chapter 6 and it is already leaps and bounds above the first game. I cannot wait to delve deeper into this game.

Indeed they did. There's plenty of references to
the Nyingmapa (Tibetan) sect of Buddhism
but I assume that's the stuff you didn't want to go into.

They can outsource the puzzles for sure, but the presentation and attention to detail is more what I was talking about.
Zelda needs a fresh take, doubt we'll get that with the next Wii iteration though. The console itself is pretty limiting. We'll see.

Any who, a girl can dream.

I beat the game on Hard and bought a ton of bonuses. Will I be able to use those bonuses in Crushing, or will my progress not count?

You can only use the tweaks in the difficulty you beat it on… so you can't beat it on Hard and then enable 1 hit kills and infinite ammo and such for Crushing.

When I start a new game on Crushing, is there any disadvantage to NOT carrying over the medals and treasure? If I don't carry them over, I would get the money from all the medals (which would help in buying stuff in the store and for MP booster / skins). Can't see why I wouldn't be able to do it
