Ah matchmaking, how i hate you. I got 1 game in the last 20 minutes and there's just under 11000 people playing.

Actually i hate living in australia and matchmaking when it comes to online games. So frustrating.

Yeah I fucking hate matchmaking in all its forms. Then again, I come from a heavy PC gaming background and can't stand that console games do not have server lists.

Man, it's a shame they're not currently planning to expand the co-op with DLC. I'd love to see some scenarios that aren't just reworked areas from U2's story.

I'd be cool if they came up with some based on U1's story - imagine all 3 players trying to fend off the
Descendants
while waiting for a helicopter extraction or something. Or since they're not tied to a bigger story, they could go a little more silly and have something like everyone's favourite video game fodder, zombies.

Just played through chapters five and six (again). My god, they look so much better than anything else before it (not counting the snow area) it isn't funny. The gameplay is pretty much at its best during these chapters as well. I love it.

I'm plenty familiar with
Tibetan mythology as I had formerly pursued a religious studies minor. I'm not familiar with the Tibetan Tree of Life though...

Gotcha. Well as I'm sure you know
plenty of people attained enlightenment under a tree however there's a lot of trees in Tibetan art. The example that I thought of is that there's asuras (demigods/"evil" beings) and gods who war over the fruit of the tree. Plenty of fruit in Tibetan/Buddhist/Hindu text have magical abilities (healing wounds, bringing people back to life, etc.). I thought this was very apt with the war between the forces of good (the gods) and the evil (the asuras) represented by Drake and co. and Lazarevic respectively fighting over the Cintamani stone.

There are plenty other possibilities, no comparison is complete, but I'm tired so that's a decent enough starter. Hope it helps.

Throughout my life, for some strange reason I have always had a desire to live in a
Tibetan village
...this game is making the desire even stronger.
I mean damn...not like any game can top UC2, so I may as well make the move now...

Congrats! I'll have mine in 2 chapters looks like. Oh, I tried
punching Flynn in chapter 24
like some people suggested. Got a good laugh out of that :lol

That was the first thing I tried once I got control over my character. I was kind of disappointed that Drake gets his ass kicked and killed if you try it twice.

Finished it just then, great game. The combat is so fluid, and outdoes any other action shooter that comes to mind (including both MGS and GoW). The story and characters are better realised than any of the movies they take inspiration from (not hard to outdo George Lucas).

My only complaint (a minor niggle) is that the end boss was not quite as cinematic as in the first game. Though that is so minor as to be bordering on irrelevant - it was still a great way to end the game.

The start of chapter 17 I think, was something surreal.

Anyway, looking forward to playing it through again, but also to potential for more games in the series. I'm sure some other myths like the ancient Ehyptians, or Druids or many others could be ripe for interpretation.

edit: and I love exploring old stuff. Halo did it well with the old installation 04, but I was much more impressed with the atmosphere and sense of lost time with the architecture throughout this game.

yeah. but obviously it's based on the visual aspect of the game.
and i would love for a zelda game to have this visual quality. wow

Sure, but it's not like Nintendo suck at making good looking games, they had some of the best looking games in the Gamecube era. Wind Waker looks better than Jak. I'm sure if Nintendo made a system with PS3's graphical capabilities, they would be able to do Zelda justice with a gorgeous looking game. Don't need Naughty Dog for that.

man I hate getting into a plunder game or chain game with a group of people who do not have mics. pisses me off!

I played one game of team deathmatch today. It was my first online experience with Uncharted 2. Immediately upon the game starting someone that sounded rather young started swearing like a sailor and spouting racial slurs and calling people "fags". Another guy started shouting back at him and threatening to find his house and kill him. I proceeded to look for a mute option and thankfully Naughty Dog was kind enough to include a "mute all" button which I pressed immediately and enjoyed the rest of the match. Anonymous voice chat is the last thing I want especially in console games. It's nice to have the option, but I would never turn it on unless I knew who I was playing with.

Anyway, I don't blame people for not having mics or having voice chat turned on.

you do a disservice to uncharted by wanting it to be left4dead

What's up with all these purchase failed errors for single player bonuses?

fee76

It only seems to work like 30% of the time for me. The other times it takes like 20 seconds on the "Purchasing" screen and then says Failed. =/

Apparently, you can only buy tweaks...for the difficulty setting you finished the game for.. (i.e. can't buy infinite ammo if you finished on Normal, to play on Hard)..and need to be online..or something like that, since I'm just in Chapter 19. (don't want to finish this game so soon!!! argh..love it!)

Technically, I think Jak 2 looks better than windwaker...stylistically is a matter of taste. I like both.

I agree that if the system was as powerful as ps3, they could make an amazing looking zelda however.

Just beat it. Wow. I mean... what can I say? I probably didn't like it as much as most of the peeps in this topic (I've never been too crazy about the feel of Uncharted's shooting - Gears feels better to me). It's still at the top of my shortlist for GotY and a solid 9/10 or 9.5/10.

It's pretty astonishing that Naughty Dog did this on such a tight schedule. I literally don't understand how their artists were able to achieve the level of environmental detail they did without working for 3+ years. Unless their team is GIGANTIC or something. Just the sheer number of incredibly detailed, only-used-once art elements is amazing.

Watching some of the "making of" videos gave me better appreciate just how BIG Unch. 2 is. Even though I just got the game Wednesday, it feels like a LONG time ago that I was sneaking through the museum, or setting the charges in Borneo. :lol

Time to turn on one-hit-kills, jack the difficulty down to Very Easy, and go treasure hunting! Only found 37 on this first run, but I wasn't going out of my way to look.

I have a mic but dont use it, i mute everyone in the beginning because 90% of the ones with mics are 14 at most and likes to mic spam (with their shitty quality mics).

I'm about 2 hours in and thinking about waiting to play on. I'm getting my new Panasonic 65" plasma (TC-65V10) in three weeks and can't decide whether to continue playing or be patient.

How will I know when the moment is right?

play it now, replay it later.

The single player is so good that it deserves multiple play throughs, and you need to play through it at least twice for the platinum

Man, I'm so pissed. I played the game on hard all the way to the end and got frustrated with the final boss. I switched it to Very Easy because I was so tired and just wanted to get past it and finish the game. The damn thing overwrote my save with a chapter 1 save! Now my only save near the end is like at 85%. WTF?

Is there a way to pick a specific chapter to load like in Killzone 2?

Great and beautiful game, absolutely superb dialogue. I've never laughed out loud at a game's dialogue so much before. Great banter between the characters.

My only complaints are:

1) Frustrating shooting sequences with boss types
(although now that I've read about the final boss not needing only sap thing it'd be way easier..sheeit)
2) Sparkling white seams/breaks in 3D modeling that make me think there's a treasure there
3) Shooting a treasure down to have it fall out of sight which makes it so you can't reach it.
4) Camera switches that make you have to switch controller directions mid move.

Oh, and I noticed RJ Mical's name in the credits for Platform Team. Some of you might remember that name from the Commodore Amiga and Atari Lynx. :)

Finito. On hard. There's loads of stats but here's the Key stats:
total time spent playing: 13:35:19
time spent standing still: 1:31:34 (LOL: its a beautiful game)
time spent climbing: 3:28:38
hit ratio: 49.41 %
total headshots: 146. That was out 694 enemies killed using gun combat. another. (so if my math is correct: head shot percentage. 146/694: 21.04 %. 1/5 enemies killed using headshots.

A little disappointed with the head shot ratio but other then that I'll add that I finished it in one sitting over a period of a day or so (bathroom/tea/lunch/dinner breaks excluded of course).

I give the game 9.6. (the decimal point is just mocking the system for those who may comment)
Best sequel since Half Life 2. For me. GOTY nominee for sure. R&C/l4d/mw2 to come. Yet to play Brutal legend as well.

Quick question. If I finish crushing mode with tweaks like one shot kill, infinite ammo, and fast motion, will I still get the trophy/platinum?

I made the biggest mistake anyone can with the ... $$$

bought all the SP bonuses when I should have spent it all on MP perks.

OH NOES!

:'(
same. i assumed they were different pools. i haven't had trouble affording the MP stuff (well, except i haven't touched co-op stuff), but still... i wouldn't have spent near as much as i did if i knew it was the same pool of money

quick question is there a way to bring your multiplayer beta stats over to the final game? I was at level 14 in the beta but now I started with level1 again.

:lol yeah. my brother, who is not really a fan of the ps3, watches me plaing the game and he laughed really hard at this scene.

Now that we are talking about what to buy, I have not bought anything yet, and I have about $500,000.

What's the best way to spend that money?

Fast Motion tweak so you can go play through crushing mode quicker. But with that much money, you can probably buy everything.

that was awesome :lol i love these moments in uncharted 2. what a great game. almost finished it :( sucks but i'm looking forward to my next playthroughs.

Chapter 20 something after fighting off
guardians in Shambala I hit a sap thing
and the game freezes. Is this where everyone else has been reporting freezing or have I just been playing too long and overheated my PS3?

Anything special to do to get around freezing or is it just random? I recall noticing a handful of other posts about freezing at one specific part of the game.

Don't worry about it. By time you get to lvl req for perks, you would have plenty of money to buy it. Most of them are crap anyway. Don't buy all of them and skip useless ones.

So am I missing something? I beat the game on hard and want to skip around chapters to treasure hunt and such, but when I go to "Chapters" only "1 - A Rock and a Hard Place" is selectable. Left and Right won't scroll through any chapters and I have it set on the difficulty I beat the game in.

What gives?

Edit: Nvm I'm stupid and didn't realize I need to hit X on the chapter in order to bring up the chapter scrolling option.

I was just about to type this into my last post complaining about ranking up. Its so true though, most boosters really do suck.

Easter egg:
In the Tibetan village on the "Where am I?" chapter, pet all 4 Yaks throughout the village by hitting triangle beside them and you get a medal. I forgot what it's called but you get $10,000.

I played like 5 more matches online of various game types and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately this game really reminded me why I hate matchmaking and usually don't play console shooters. It is simply not enjoyable to play 5 - 10 minutes or so and then get booted out to a lobby and have to redo the whole matchmaking process. It is way too time consuming and it doesn't look like you can search for a specific game mode / map combination.

I never got around to trying it in the beta but are you able to play the survival mode by yourself like you could horde in gears? Sometimes I just want to jump right in and matchmakaing in Australia can be a nightmare from time to time. Not to mention going it on your own can be a blast.

If not I'd love to see it patched in, not sure how likely that is but I know you can start machinima by yourself.

the only freezing I've experienced in my 20+ hours of gameplay so far happened in chapter 25 and it's a known glitch... happens after the huge firefight immediately when picking a treasure in the room once you've cleared it, it autosaves just fine though.

aww, i hope its not like that all the time. I played through the game with a bunch of friends last night, but i fell asleep about the time where
the tibetan villiage gets invaded
(not because the game wasn't fun, it was one of the best games i've played in a looong time.) I was hoping i could start back from that point, seeing as it's pretty far into the game..
Can anyone check this?
