What amazes me is how well ND is able to trick the player. There were two points where I thought I had triggered a scripted event by doing something wrong. In my mind I was like "fuck I jumped too early" and then a bridge collapsed as some sort of negative reinforcement of that thought. I can't tell if the level was designed in a way to make me do that or if it was pure coincidence but damn.
I know what you mean. I think there were several events like this that really added to the immersion.

I didn't pay attention, really (too happy to have finished it and gotten the medal), but I had just reached level 20 before that (so that means 304,500) and after finishing that game on crushing, I played 2 deathmatch games (where we on) and now I have 334,000. So I'd say around $20,000 (only got those two medals plus the medic one).

Wow, if it's that low, co-op gives you pretty low rewards in terms of how much effort you have to put into it. Doesn't seem worth it when I average 13k per deathmatch game in just minutes, even more on good games. I was expecting more money for Crushing

Holy Hell. Is it just me, or does it take an obscene amount of time to connect upon selecting the multiplayer option?

I'm on Chapter
22
right now. The courtyard area is destroying me.

you can sneak by without alerting anyone

Spoiler,spoiler,spoiler....
Anyone think the sniper section with the collapsing building in Monastery was an absolutely masterful way to generate some tension?

How long do I have to wait for my stats to appear on ND's site? I am level 14, I've been playing for nearly one day, but the site still says I have no games played :/

if there's something i hate about multiplayer is being stuck playing easy and normal coop games all the time. Whether I suck at it or not is my problem, but I'd love to have some option that ensured me that I'd play on hard or crushing.

it's been 3 times in a row right now that I had to play on easy mode and I'm getting quite tired of it.

I just got to Chapter 19: Siege on Crushing. So far it hasn't been as bad as Crushing in Uncharted 1. I'm afraid of the last boss though.

I think it defaults to easy and most people don't know to change it. You should tell them about changing their preference in their profile to reduce the number of people out there set to easy.

Whats the current feelings on posting pics from THAT multiplayer map
The Lost City
, because I just spent like an hour in Cinema mode and want to post pictures :D

Shall I start an Uncharted 2 Photo Thread just incase, with warning?

Question:

can you kill the RPG guy before he blows the door that Elaina's running up to when you and
Jeff are hobbling through the city?

Probably not. It seems like a scripted event that actually opens the door.

Man, I just did "The Sanctuary" on hard mode with 1 other guy. We didn't even make it past the beginning part...so be careful what you wish for lol.

The difference between normal and hard is insane. Needless to say, I wasn't as prepared for it as I should've been.

Also, I'm usually doing easy and normal mode games with people as well even though I have my preferences set to hard. I've not played through the SP in hard, though, so I'm gonna have to change up my tactics for it. I tend to prefer up close and personal melee and shotguns over hiding and shooting from cover...it doesn't work as well in hard :P

from penny-arcade.com
:lol :lol :lol Good stuff.

Some people look more towards 2010, but for me Demons Souls, UC2 and Brutal Legend basically made this the best end of year I can think of ... just about ever.

It took a little long, but this generation is really starting to cook, for me at least.

Good lord, just finished the game and :O :O

I can't believe how good that was from start to finish. My final playtime seems to be over 10 hours, which is really impressive for a game this dense. It was nearly flawless throughout.

This is, in my opinion, the very first masterpiece Naughty Dog has ever made. This deserves to stand aside some of the best games in history, I think.

Regarding the final boss...

I didn't think it was a bad fight at all. In fact, I thought the whole ending sequence was fantastic. I enjoyed the final boss and only required ONE retry. It was pretty obvious what to do and I had no problems executing. Perhaps on a harder difficulty it would be problematic, but really, it was still a great battle. Then to finish it off with an amazing escape sequence (looks like something out of a tech demo - just insane detail, animation, and destruction at work) and a great ending? Yeah, AAA material.

I didn't think Batman could be topped as far as single player games this year, but Uncharted 2 wins this battle. This is easily the best exclusive game the PS3 has seen and one of the very best console games released this gen.

I'm going to start Brutal Legend soon enough and I have a feeling I should have played these games in reverse. As good as BL may end up being, it's going to feel lacking next to this. :\

Time to play more Uncharted 2...

Played some games with GAFfers, and it was awesome as usual.
I noticed Ryanardo enjoys using the shotgun as much as I do :D
Good games, everyone :)

I think to the average joe, the platforming appears to get harder as the game goes by. For instance
the falling bridge during the Monastery chapter.
For us, since we're so used to basic gaming conventions, we know that we'll be able to make it up, or notice that the boards breaking are usually triggered by Drake leaving the platform, whereas someone who isn't quite as perceptive will be shitting themselves, thinking they're only just going to make it.
Speaking of which, my little cousins were crapping themselves watching me play through the
mountains with that weird monster thing on my tail
and all those crazy platforming bits. :lol

Anyone want to play some coop in about a half-hour? Any level other than the one included in the beta.

If so, hit me up.

Yeah Uncharted 2 has alot more variety in the platforming,I enjoyed that part.

Have to get into some GAF games, playing with randoms = fail.

Collected a bunch of treasures, working my way through crushing, but holy fuck is the last boss ridiculous. Got him down to one hit multiple times, then owned.

Still, GOTG for me.

So... To successfully complete a playthrough on Hard difficulty, does it have to be from the VERY start to the finish? As in, even at the beginning of the first chapter, while you're still climbing the train, it won't matter if you switch to Hard?

'cause that's what I did. No Medal/Trophy. :(

I started another game on Hard(made sure it was set on Hard before I started, just to be sure), and went through the first Chapter again... Still nothing. Am I going to have to play through the entire thing on Hard again?

Should've just had it on Hard to begin with. The difference between Normal and Hard miniscule, and I played the first Uncharted a ton. :/

[EDIT] - By the way, I've been seeing other folks with some multiplayer skins that aren't available on my side. Pretty sure one of them was Novarro, the other might've been one of the random henchmen or pirates from the first game. Are they Naughty Dog, or region-exclusive skins? If so, are there any plans to make them avaiable to the rest of the masses?

finished my Crushing run (which earns you $40,000 btw) but missed 3 treasures along the way, oh well... gotta find the treasures ! gotta catch them all ! and all by myself ! >:(
