I finally picked up a copy of Uncharted 2 after going on a mass media blackout around this game. I refused to follow any spoilers or read up on any details, so I popped the disc in and played the beginning for the first time, and stopped after Chapter 3 before I go into "marathon run mode".

Holy living fuck.

found a glitch during plunder in the lost city. Apparently you can throw the treasure to this unreachable spot.

From what I saw in the replay, the opposite team threw the treasure down from the top level into the sewer entrance below. Then the treasure looped back and forth and settled somewhere outside the map.

You're kidding right? I thought that Chapter 3 and 4 were the worst in the game. The multiple waves of enemies in a static, jungle environment felt like they could've been pulled right out of Uncharted 1.

The reason this game is great is because of the variety of environments, but more importantly, the sense of verticality and movement from Chapter 5 onwards.

Well, I can see that the game's been ridiculously polished up from what I've played so far...even though there's something strange about Drake's 3D model

I don't know, maybe his face was not the face model used for UC1. Maybe it's the 5 oclock shadow or something

Received the game not gonna start it yet got work today but had a quick listen to the soundtracks, OMG got shivers from it can tell it's gonna be awesome.

Is there someplace selling a CD of the Soundtrack. Amazon?

Y'know about as many people, if not more, play MGO than Uncharted 2 Online, I hope that's just a reflection of people approaching Uncharted 2 as a single player game, or maybe the Multiplayer just doesn't click as much with the general audience than it is a sign of overall sales. There are about 6000 people playing right now.

I am very disappointed by the tiny online community. I hope that it balloons over the next few weeks as people finish the campaign. The peak users I've noticed is around 15,000, which is pretty sad for a brand new game.

finally hit level 30. not sure if I should keep going and try for 40/50.. probably not with borderlands coming out but man 30 hours into mp, 30 into sp.. great value. plus my gf spent 15 hrs in sp. cant complain with 75+ hrs of amazingness.

That and Drake has much more polygons then the last game. I think he has about 80k, from what I heard.

Drake's face does look a tad different to me than before. It even looks a bit different from scene to scene. I think it's because they outsourced the CGI cutscenes.

Got the game at around 7, and after a good five or six hours of playing or so, I'm seventeen chapters in.

Really great stuff so far. The game does a fantastic job of mixing up locations and scenarios, and doing new things with the game mechanics. There have been a few weak points so far (Chapter 15 felt like a bit much after the relentless run-and-gun of the three or four chapters previous), but it's pretty great, and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

The combat is as good as anything in the genre, and there are lots of viable ways to approach any given scenario. I love what they've done with the melee.

Looking forward to beating this game soon, hopefully at a slightly slower pace.

Nah I found his face kinda weird looking too. Clay-like almost. Couldn't quite put my finger on it.

You know, I'm not sure if those numbers are always correct...even the online demo had around 17.000 users once. There is no reason that the retail should have less players, makes no sense.

The numbers are wrong. Just like the stats on the site for everyone is wrong for a good portion of people.

There's no real indicaton how well the MP has been received, yet.

Chapter 25 is one of the greatest videogame sections I've ever played in my life. The atmosphere in that level (I have a real soft spot for lightning in games) is absolutely stunning. <3

Completed it last night on Hard, and would echo most sentiments here about the final chapter.

Haven't touched the MP yet as I didn't want to spoil any of the SP environments, but I shall be diving right in there tonight. First game I'll have bothered taking online since Killzone.

So I wasn't the only one who noticed that Drake's face looked weird the majority of the time? His face reminds me of this during some cutscenes:

... Don't the game's cinematics make use of the in-game models?

The in-game cinematics do, but there are also pre-rendered cinematics (the ones that allow you to Skip Movie and don't use the alternate skin you have active).

Played a random Village co-op objective just a few minutes ago, and just when we were seconds away from completing it, one of the other players quits and there's a connection error, thus considering it mission fail. Fuuuuuuuu..

seeing the Nathan Drake model in Drake's Fortune after having spend so long playing UC2 is really jarring. It looks bizarre. :lol

Man, co-op is ridiculously good fun in this game. Just adds a new dimension over what I found in RE5 (thanks to the vastly improved controls) and even Gears (thanks to the more diverse gameplay, namely with platforming and vertical elements). People complain about bullet sponge issues, but in comparison to some of the other top 3rd person shooters, I think enemies take considerably less bullets to down. A single burst or two, or just one head shot is adequate. Because of this, headshots just feel so much more satisfying, especially in co-op where you get that fantastic "ching!" every time you've killed someone. It is a shame that co-op isn't the same campaign from the SP, but what they've done with the adapted levels works much better for co-op. Things are far more intense and action packed.

Can anyone let me know if there are only 3 co-op levels, or are more unlockable?

Only 3 and there probably won't be anymore since they are hard to make. Someone had an article where a ND dev said it probably wouldn't happen. It's a shame, because it's the one part of the game that I most want to have dlc for.

Only 3? Haaw man that sucks...they are so damn fun! I would definitely pay for additional co-op DLC and I hardly ever buy DLC.

I would only buy co-op DLC if it didn't dump everyone in the game if 1 person quits/disconnects, resulting in $0 even if you were steps from the end of the mission.

I hope ND fix that problem soon. Almost finished with my Crushing run and searching for treasures. Game Radar has a complete treasure list and location with video.

Yes, I cheated and got help with my treasures.

While its not the top of their list, its not completely disregarded. Hell, I'd love a bonus DVD or BD25 with co-op missions and extra MP maps. I'd pay $40 for it if it compares to L4D1, which was almost full-price for 3-5 hours of content you go into over and over.

L4D1 had the advantage of being the first truly exciting co-op FPS that was really well designed. Being an innovator means you can have less content at full price and get away with it more easily.

Only thing I've seen is it's available on iTunes for $10. Not sure if an actual CD is getting made or not. Looks like Uncharted 1 was done the same way.

Well, considering it wasn't that much crazier then Sven Co-op several years ago, I beg to differ. Still, it was fun and I enjoyed it for $20 off Steam.

What I'm saying is that if they can make anything that adds up to that amount of fun, plus a few MP maps and/or a Drake's Fortune collection of competitive / co-op missions, 3 hours of content can amount to hundreds of hours of enjoyment.

Do it nao, Naughty Dogs! You shall have my monies for more blackmagic videogame sex!

Prakoso -- the pirate from U:DF, is a region exclusive skin. This one and baseball shirt Drake were the skins for the Col. Ed. for SCEE.

There's also the Naughty Dog employee variants of each as well.

Navarro was an exclusive code to folks who went to ComicCon (and I passed some out at PAX too). I still have a few left that I'm going to be looking to give out in a giveaway on our website sometime in the next few months, after I talk to legal about these things.
Any hope for an Eddy Raja skins giveaway? :(

I love the theme song and I'm glad they kept it from the first game.

Just finished this game, such an awesome game.

anyways, what is the name of the song that plays during the credits that changes to some electronic style midway through?

I didn't watch the whole credits scroll. Is the music that good? I might watch it when I beat it on Crushing in a day or two.

The demo was MP only. I expect that most people will finish the SP campaign before venturing into MP just like I did. The game only came out last week therefore the majority of gamers probably haven't finished SP yet. I expect the number will climb substantially in the coming weeks.

Does anyone else feel like the MP could use some kind of... radar, or something? A problem I have with it is that no matter where you are, you're pretty much exposed 360 degrees no matter what because of the cover system, level design, and the characters ability to move around so much. It doesn't feel like the game has true choke points, and most deaths are because someone shot you from some wtf where was that spot and killed you, whilst they were probably camping the cover of some obscure position.

Designing workable MP levels must be a bitch.

I think that is the reason why it takes so many bullets to kill someone

That's the beauty of it. It makes the game frantic, it makes you schizophrenic.

And the radar is the audio in this game, if you have a good set up :D .

Gawd. So many half truths.

The in-game and cinematic cutscenes (even the pre-recorded ones - or pre-rendered as you call it) use the same models and are rendered in-engine. Where are you getting this that you're claiming to be true?

thanks to the chapter selection feature now I see that my 3 missing treasures are all on the Monastery level! yes that narrows the search a lot! hunting for treasures now! Platinum is near!

question: is there a way to start a really fresh new game in which you get to find all the treasures again and unlock every medal? do I have to delete the game saves or something?

edit: strange enough I had no glitches or freezes on my Crushing run whereas I had one on my hard run, the chap 25 glitch, I guess it's related with the treasure you can pick after the huge firefight.

I thought I read it and given that the models looked a bit different to me I just figured that was the case. I guess I was wrong.

New Game
say No to carry over medal/treasure progress

thanks, that will still add money to my profile right? I love playing the Uncharted series looking for treasures and getting the medals, rushing through the levels doesn't do it for me.

I guess my 3rd playtrough will be then a fresh game on Crushing again (really easy compared to U1) but with the mirrored world tweak on, it makes the game feel completely different.

When it is pre-rendered they can use better lighting on individual parts, such as simulation of how light scatters in the skin, or becomes diffused in hair / clothes. This brings out some life the models, although in-game they have shaders attempting to do something similar as well, but mostly for the snow.
