Who came up with the fucking idea, that you need to level up before you can buy certain MP perks?

didn't think it was too problematic. :S

ah well... It'd keep people playing to level up. I'm up to level 24. loving MP SOOooo much. Still need to get used to hearing my own voice. Very weird.

about a sequel.

I've been thinking HUGE SPOILER
that since they've established elena/drake's relationship at the end of U2
the next game should be a supernatural/or one that has it as a focus my idea:
Elena gets an artifact and this one is possessed/disesased and she gets infected with either a disease or a spirit and becomes the final boss. quest is about saving her
So it anchors the storyline. Just an idea.

But I'd rather they introduce dinosaurs. Drake vs Raptors would be dreamy.

DLC. I will buy DRAKE VS DINOSAURS.

<3 show capcom how they shoulda done DC3.

right, as if the ending of this game wasn't cliche enough. I really hope they don't go that route.

no offense, but i'm glad you're not gonna be writing for Uncharted 3 :P

Played nearly two hours with GAFfers, and had a lot of fun as always :D
Good games, everyone :)

Definitely some great games. :)
I got my ass kicked badly a couple of times. :lol

Next time I'll probably fire up my headset as well. Still weirded out hearing my own voice and talking to the tv. :lol

I think there is much less pixel shading going on on the UC2 textures compared to UC1. UC2 looks to have more varied and colored textures than UC1, but I don't recall having seen anything like this in UC2
Absolutely not true my friend. It takes more, not less pixel shaders to remove the shiny look from the normal/specular mapped textures. This is evident in the Borneo jungle and Train sequence, where vegetation doesn't look the least bit plasticy anymore, but instead looks more organic and 'warm'. Even shiny wet surfaces (Chapter 25
rain
) look better and more natural than in UC1. Snowy surfaces in UC2 and vegetation use much more complex shaders than any in UC1. Subsurface scattering, ice glimmer, ice refraction in places even. Those things are not only very complex to pull off but extremely rare in games today, especially applied full screen and with all the other lighting and other effects at the same time.

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Uncharted 2 Metacritic score back up to 97 (was at 96).

Jesus. Are there any games ranked higher than this?

I certainly don't think it is the greatest game ever made, but it definitely deserves a lot of the praise it is getting. We can only hope the game gets the sales it deserves.

Looks like someone's a big fan of the scraped original RE4 story, and apparently a big fan of Dino Crisis (or is that Tomb Raider 1?).

I think ND is lucky you aren't part of the story team :p

I just had a reality check.
As I was walking home in the rain, I looked around me and looked at the ground. The splashes and waves dancing on the ground due to the constant rain drops looked almost identical to the rain and thunderstorm in UC2 (this part of the town has roads floored with bricks). The shinnies and the movement of the water looked exactly like how I saw it in game. Unbelievable!

Heh just had my most satisfying MP kill yet...

Eh, Eye of the Indra is okay, I guess.

I liked it. However, if they're going to charge for the remaining episodes, they better not be packed full of commercials/product placement like this one was.

Took my sweet time and finally finished today with some 50+ treasures and 400K. Brilliant, brilliant game and also the best looking game I have yet played. Time to get started on MP.

Questions:

Which is a better buy infinite ammo or 1 shot kill? Can I play the harder settings with these on?

Is there a must buy item or thing that overall makes the game better or is just cool?

Party up and everything is fine for me apart from 1 connection error dropout last night....

I just hate how the voice chat is downgraded online, more than likely as resources are being used to save each game mode for the replay / machinima mode which is quite disappointing seeing as I won't use that. It's like a lower bitrate is used so it is staticy and hard to hear people.

Also, not having voice chat specific to teams in things like elimination sucks. When i'm in a party online, i mute everyone except my party. I'm sure other people do this too, but that has got to suck for the people who aren't in a party with everyone talking over each other.

Buy both, and you can only use the the tweaks on the difficulty level you already finished, i.e. if you finished on normal you can only use tweaks on normal mode not hard or crushing until you beat those modes.

Is there a must buy item or thing that overall makes the game better or is just cool?

doughnut drake

Hope this helps.

Edit: Get the no gravity tweak, it is pretty cool.

I gotta say, I no longer have any matchmaking issues, so I assume ND has been hard at work at that shit. It's super quick now. Connection issues seem to have gone on my side too.

So I've been trying to rent this game since release, and the copies are always rented out no matter how well I time the estimated return dates.

Signs are pointing to me buying it, but damn...

This was my favorite game so far this year but didn't I read somewhere where they said the game would be about 60 percent shooting and 40 percent puzzles? Unless they count platforming as puzzles, I counted about three in the whole game.

40% platforming.

It was 40% platforming. 40% puzzles would be awful.

just finished my first co-op game since the beta in the Village level. Fun!

I was matched into a Sanctuary co-op map to start with, but after the first two screens someone dropped out and the game reset. :(

QUESTION about Multiplayer co-op difficulty:

Anyone know if the difficulty has any effect on cash rewards?? Seems I've been playing on easy, need to jump up to normal but will I get more cash?

Totally worth it dude.

BUY the game, you will not regret it.

I believe so.

I am certain I got more money by finishing survival on "normal" than on "easy".

I wish there were more survival maps and a harder difficulty too.

The only thing that's holding me back is that with the new SOCOM maps coming out, I won't touch the MP component (and I wasn't a real fan of it to begin with playing the beta).

If the game wasn't available for rent today, it probably won't be there tomorrow - I'll probably break down.

If any game so far this year deserves your hard earned, it's this one.

The difficulty goes up to Crushing for co-op. You probably have to complete all 3 maps on a top available difficulty to unlock the next one.

You can't possibly look or sound as crazy as I do. I sound ignorant and slur my speech while dancing around in front of my screwed-up screen.

The motion comic is just... :/ Too many bad ad placements. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't shove these down your throat.

No, just beat a level. The problem is getting competent players in Hard/Crushing public co-op. Because you have friendly fire on during those difficulties and people are stupid/douches and die/kill you.

WHOAH!
I thought the train level in Killzone 2 was impressive but Uncharted 2 blows it away.

How did they pull this off? Its certainly blows away my expectations of what is possible on current gen hardware.

** I want to run that chapter again on a larger TV sometime just to see more detail.

It kind of puts the Gears of War and Killzone 2 train levels to shame, and not just superficially either. I really love the way the trains physical movement actually effects where you're aiming and whether or not you can get a clear shot on the enemy (or visa-versa), it's such an impressive step up that I would have expected from a new console generation. It's like, "yeah, the PS3/360 did train levels on a straight pathway, look at what the PS4/XBOX3 can do now!" type material. Amazing.

It is? Unless you're talking about your actual friends, that is. Every dead person can talk to each other, but none of your living teammates can hear you. Each team only hears each other when they are alive.

I hope the next GTA, be it PS3 only or not, can achieve something like this. The subway / train always seemed like it could be so much more, but the most you could do was drive it in San Andreas. In GTA4, it is only for transportation as I don't think they even considered trying to implement physics-on-physics at that point. Then again, open-world might make it impossible to do such things AND keep euphoria going.
