Oh, wait... Marco Polo isn't completely silent as he moves about... just needed to turn up my volume. :/
Some speech samples would've been nice, though. I love it when a nearby enemy reveals himself by picking up an item. "This will come in handy." Yeah, for me to hunt you down.
And thats all she wrote for Uncharted 2. I nearly cried and I most definitely laughed out loud. So, so awesome. This is how you end a game people, it was short, sweet and heartfelt. Bravo Naughty Dog!
For anyone who is struggling on the timing for melee counters on Crushing:
I haven't had time to test this thoroughly, but this is what I've found with respect to the Uncharted 2 melee combo with counter: it works pretty much the same way as the brutal combo did in the first game, i.e. you CANNOT mash buttons repeatedly. Think of the game as 'queueing up' your button inputs; if you've mashed square repeatedly, then when it comes time to press triangle for your counter then one of your earlier queued up square inputs will get sent instead, resulting in failure.
Uncharted 1 Brutal Combo:
Press square ONCE, if you connect then press triangle ONCE, once the second blow is animating then you can mash square for the final blow. If you don't connect with the first square press, then just go back to the start (i.e. line yourself up and press square ONCE again...).
Uncharted 2 Melee Combo w/ Counter:
Press square ONCE, then ONCE again, then WAIT. You WILL see the triangle prompt for the counter if you have followed these steps, even on Crushing. If you don't see the triangle prompt then you didn't time your square button presses correctly (i.e. you either pressed square 3+ times, or you pressed it twice but too close together). Anyway, once that triangle prompt appears, hit triangle immediately, and once the successful counter animation has begun you can begin mashing square for the final blow (unless you're fighting
Draza, in which case the final melee sequence features a second counter, i.e. square ONCE, square ONCE, triangle ONCE, square ONCE, triangle ONCE, mash square if my memory serves
).
The annoying thing about the Uncharted 2 system AFAICS is that a weakened enemy doesn't require a counter, so you might find yourself pressing the square button slowly and deliberately when it wasn't even needed (i.e. you could have just mashed square if you'd known since the first or second blow took the enemy down). But anyway, the secret is not going into melees in a panic and mashing buttons, if you go in calmly and deliberately you'll always win, just like the first game. Using this technique I beat
Draza
on Crushing second go (the first time I forgot about
the extra blows and counters, relaxed when the fight wasn't over!
Finally finished the game and didn't want to come into this thread proper until then. This is my GOTY, plain and simple. I can't remember the last time I played a game that, once it was over, I didn't feel as if I had played anything, but experienced something. The actors are amazing and Naughty Dog is one of the most amazing developers of all time. Hands down. There were very few points where something "game-like" broke the experience for me.
With that said, like all things that are awesome, I want to absorb as much of this game world as possible, from watching all of the mo-cap performances, to listening to them talk about ADR, which I've always been interested in. Didn't know that anyone was doing that for games, but since they actually acted out the scenes, it only makes sense that this game used it.
Thanks for tossing this up. I'm going to go watch more now.

Exactly. Actually, I did tear up. See, this game ended like a movie, and not on some hard note like almost every other game out there. There was a lot of light hearted moments, and a shit ton of times when I laughed out loud in such a way that it startled me. I was laughing at a game that same way I laughed at a good book or movie. I was immersed.

IDK wtf went on today but I'm playing alot of games with a pretty low amount of lag (for UC2) and I'm doing awesome. Been avg'ing scores of 25 Kills - 5 Deaths. I can actually kinda aim consistently today!
Actually I just spoke with Ari Arad... Yeah, I want to do the movie. I mean I would love to do it as Nathan Drake and if I keep getting such recognition as bringing this character to life like no one else can, I would love to play myself. But I've been in this business for long time now and I've done film, I've done television and I understand the realities of the business.
I would love them to get Hugh Jackman if they're not going to use me... I think the producers really would like to see Jackman because... he has that tough guy exterior but... there's a lot going on behind those eyes. There's a lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior. And he has great comic timing. I mean, he's a phenomenal actor and I just hope that I get a part in the movie where I get to work with Hugh.
I'm terrible at these sorts of things normally, it's just easy if you use that technique. I had the same trouble with Brutal Combos originally because I'd mash square continuously until I saw the first punch actually land, and then I'd press triangle (no dice!). It was the same in 2, I was mashing square continuously until I saw the 'slowdown' and then I'd press triangle (again no dice!).
Let's not forget that brutal combos left you open as well (albeit not as long as counters)! Steel fist is definitely the way to go though.
Im sure this has been asked a thousand time before but here it goes again: If I wanted to get the Crushing difficulty trophy, would I have to start a completely new game, or can I simply set the difficulty to Crushing and then load whichever level I want?

Wait, I'm a bit confused now. I'm planning on playing the game chapter by chapter on hard and Crushing. That way I'll still be able to get the trophies right? Or do I need to start an all-new game on Hard and Crushing?
edit: excuse the dumb question, should look at previous posters more.
you can use chapter select. it tells you what the highest difficulty you've completed the chapter on is from the menu. you can use chapter select and go at each chapter in whichever order you want, but to trigger the trophy, you have to do Chapter 26 (the final chapter) last. I mean, technically you can do Chapter 26 first if you want, but then you'll have to do it again once you've done everything else in order to trigger the trophy.
Whoa, hold up Full. I remember being in a party with you and then we tried to make a Gaf game but people left. I was in the chat room at asked Kittonwy to join, you were in there and then we saw you disappear and join a different party...I dunno man.
PSn is a bit fucked right now because we all just got mass DC and can't log in anyway.
I love having people melee me 1st. I actually allow them to melee me 1st. Im running up to them blind firing and then I get in close...they melee me while they're getting shot a couple of times. I then melee them back before they get a 2nd chance and BAM they're dead. Or if I get a surprise melee from around a corner or something then I'll just fire around 3 shots into them and melee them so we both die.

More like two gaf parties joined, some people quit so we had six. "I don't like playing 3 on 3" BOOT. You guys immidiately start playing a competitive game and I play by myself for a few games until I had the chance to hook up with a different party.

We were just playing this deathmatch owning another party of level 40+. At one point, me and a teammate trapped some level 49 guy in a corner with two simultaneous grenades but he managed to quit the game before getting killed. :lol
You weren't, you were in the party and I was party leader. I'd never kick you man, you know that. Sometimes the game says "You've been kicked" and pushes you out to the lobby though. All I know is that we thought you left and proceeded to go with only 4 people at the time.
I'm sorry mang.

I tried again and it crashed. Somnium can't login either. Who are you anyway?
