Holy shit, was the train boss on crushing a huge pain in the ass. I would go to melee him and start mashing triangle to counter only to have him destroy me. It wasn't until after I figured out I had to wait for the triangle prompt to appear on screen that I was able to easily beat him.

Edit:

Full post reading comprehension ftw!

The boss wasn't a pain in the ass, just your execution! :lol

the train "boss" was super easy, the last boss on the othe -- actually, no. I'm not going to get started on it again, it's only going to shorten my life expectancy

Which is?
you can get under the map very easily and grab people through the floor. search youtube for it, as it doesn't look like it's widely exploited. Haven't heard any mention from arne/nd on it.

funny, my experience versing the last boss on Crushing was basically the same as my Hard run through. I had to beat him TWICE on Crushing as well (I played the game out of order, and didn't realise Chapter 26 had to be last; someone had to be a guinea pig and work out how that system worked, and this time it was me :lol ), so by the end of it, I had my circuit through the room pinned down to a T. It wasn't enjoyable, but it wasn't frustrating. Still a baaaaad decision on ND's part, though. =p

"Lose Money/Wait 30 seconds"

Which in reality (for me) is "lose cash from match, with the exception of medals and waiting 30 seconds before going back to a menu"

ONOES!

Quit again and see what it says.

Carry Sniper down train.
"ENOUGH!" *snipe him in head* *Helmets gone*
Melee crap out of him.
????
DONE!

Not really that hard. :/

I don't need to. "Lose Money and Wait 30 seconds"

which, again:

Lose money from match, with the exception of medals earned in match.

Wait 30 seconds after you quit.

ZOMG SUCH PUNISHMENT! *yawn*

I saw some guy spamming the Naughty Dog Facebook saying to change the requirements of level 60 for $60 million...I wasnt sure if that was true either but someone kept spamming it.

probably the same guy that did it on our blog, who was 58 last time I checked.

I think that some folks are missing the point that each roman numeral level is like an "elite" level, almost like hitting prestige (it's the only other analogue i could think of). So after 50, which you could consider the "normal" level cap, each roman numeral is supposed to be progressively harder. so yes, it will be quite the feat to hit 60 now.

It is not 30 seconds the second time.

Uh, yes, yes it is. That is, if you don't quit continuously. Which, for me, I don't do unless circumstances deem it.

Edit: Okay, seems to reset per-playlist. Just checked again: $40,000 and 30 second wait time. ZOMG OHNOES.

I can easily make $40k back in singleplayer. Big deal.

arne said:
i think a lot of others on PS.forums and elsewhere don't quite feel the same way you do about the cash loss. ;)

Unless you fixed the singleplayer medal glitch the $40K drop isn't a huge deal. You can easily get that money back.

Game Analyst said:
$40,000 is nothing to yawn at.

Its 40k any time you quit? Ouch. Seems like a decent amount to take away to me.

Now to hop online, patch this baby, and see if I can finally get into some matches where fools don't quit out at the first sign of defeat. :)

:lol :lol :lol yeah, I'd have to agree. But damn if it wasn't satisfying to finally put him down. I felt like yelling, "Kitty got wet!".

I really need to finish this game.

I don't think I've chimed in on the hype of this game yet. It's a game that would get me to pick up a system for. I don't know if that's saying much from me, since I bought the thing when it was still at that inflated price in Canadian dollars.

Anyway, the game is fucking incredible. After work, this game just lets me slide right in like a wet napkin. When I do turn it on that is. Damn fine game. I don't find that I'm getting frusterated nearly as much as I did in the original.

The online is boats of fun too. What a rad package.

I finished Crushing and found the remaining treasures tonight. Wonderful game. Just a couple more weapon trophies, survivor, and steel fist expert left for the single player trophies. I wish my connection at school didn't suck so much so I could get online to get platinum this weekend.

The patch fixed my problems with that annoying square during gameplay and the black borders not going all the way to the edge of the screen when you press up on the d-pad. The square still shows up a bit in cutscenes but it's not nearly as noticeable.

The difficulty spikes up when you go to
Shambala
. Or maybe it's just the patch. Final boss is a pain in the neck. I've tried 10 times but I've failed to kill him (on Normal difficulty).

I'd rather face Radec on Elite :\

What is your strategy to beating the boss?

I bet you're just doing it wrong if you're having so much trouble on Normal.

I got him in one try on normal but he took me a long time on hard and crushing. You'll eventually figure out a good pattern that works for you.

Just finished the game for the first time, playing on Hard. It's been a long time since I've played something as good as this.

Loved the ending ;D

Now onto Crushing.

I spent hours and hours on this. I finally did it. I think it is really cheap.

OK, was able to fill the guy with so much lead that he would be an EPA hazard. Doesn't kill him.

I used the grenade after filling him with lead. Doesn't kill him.

I filled him with lead, and hit him with the grenade to knock off his helmet. Shot the pistol (that explosive one) in his face. Doesn't kill him.

I filled him with lead and fragged with grenade to knock off his helmet. Then I shot him in the face with the pistol and beat him down from one end of the train to the other . . . literally . . . all the way down the train car to the end where he magically can't be knocked off. He had no helmet and I punched him over and over and over (I got the timing just right) some 10 times. I hoped he would die or get knocked of the train. STILL DOESN'T KILL HIM.

It was beyond ridiculous. Obviously I was missing something.

Well, it turns out that all you have to do is
knock of the helmet, get in a fight, then block off three of his attacks IN A ROW with the triangle (with squares in between I think). I got so good at beating his ass that I pretty much stopped having to use the triangle. I kept thinking just a little more damage. No. You need to do the three blocks to activate the QTE. No matter how much you damage him, he will never die without those three blocks.

That was fucking annoying. I did FAR more damage to the guy than you really need to do to kill him. That is cheap.

I dunno. I'm just running around and shooting the resin. I'm surprised some of you have found it very easy on Normal. He kills you in one or two shots.

Maybe the patch has spiked the difficulty up. Not sure though.

500+ hours of Killzone and never a single PSN disconnect, Uncharted 2 Betas and pre-patch everything fine and tonight after the patch two disconnects in a fucking row !!! I hope they don't take $80k away from me since they were network errors not a rage-quit :lol

it's the same melee process that occurs with every other bad dude in the game, except this time, instead of being Square, Triangle, Square it's Squ, Tri, Squ, Tri, Squ. I'm not understanding what was so difficult, the timing was literally identical to how it was throughout the rest of the game?

Yay, I beat the boss, after deciding to stay on my toes this time. Didn't really like the boss fight though. Preferred the fight in the last game.

HRRRRNNNNNNNAAAAAAGH *charges

last boss nearly ruined the whole experience for me, and i nearly called it a day on completion. Personally, i felt the last boss was terrible. If they really had to do boss phases, they should have been different. Rather than increasing the number of nades he tossed at a time, I would have been happier with phases that utilised the seperate gameplay mechanics, like the stealth, melee, etc.
Fair point. That's why I liked UC1's boss, since it did utilize the skills you've gained throughout the game. This one didn't, but I still found it enjoyable.

I'm playing a game. And in the game I am supposed to kill someone. And to kill someone, you shoot, and grenade, and beat them. I did that. I damaged him FAR MORE than is necessary to kill him but he would not die.

I was playing a game where you try to kill a guy . . . not a game where you try to find a secret code. But what was needed was a specific code. That really blows the 'suspension of disbelief' and massively frustrates people who beat the fuck out of an enemy only to have the enemy refuse to die no matter how much damage you do them.

That is one place where I actually needed a hint but didn't get one. (Actually, the guy should die after X amount of damage . . . not when you do a specific magic code.)

So, my PS3 has always had this problem and I have never figured out why...Every time I try to download a patch for a game, the download freezes. Over and over and over. So I can't download the patch. And can't play the game online. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I don't have problems staying online, and I've been enjoying Uncharted 2's multiplayer...It's just this patch thing that causes problems.

Patch download probs
Are you on wireless? My nephew had the same prob and we got round it by hard-wiring to download the patch and then going back to wireless. I never did bother troubleshooting further for him because the above worked but I'm sure it's something to do with port forwarding on the router. Try putting the PS3 into the DMZ zone of the router firewall if you can or enable UPnP if you have that option.

Which country did you selected when you made the PSN Account?

BTW, that 30 seconds and 40K dropping resets when your console resets. Bravo, ND. I can easily reset my console and quit when dumbasses around my level play Gold Rush and don't even stick together/play the game.

If anything you should make a seperate "Gold Rush/Survival" playlist for each so I don't have to deal with "DURR I'LL KILL ENEMIES AND NOT PLAY THE OBJECTIVE!" people. :|

Dear god, Is the melee system as broken normally as it is tonight? It feels worse than the beta. Sometimes you line up to each other and just miss. Other times I'm seeing it connect with a hit while on the other side of a pillar.

Outside of that, Got a chance on some new maps today. Quite enjoying multiplayer still. Players are allot better also.

Yea it's been like that since the Demo-Beta. Getting hit through pillars is pretty common now :/ Thank lag for saying that you're right by them when you're not. The same goes for explosions.

never experienced any of these.

just ended a marathon MP game - stupid friend should have saved me but ended up picking up stuff/left right.. (at level 10) then post game we were arguing about the buttons to save/pick up. He was saying there were the same. What a dumbarse. One's X, one's triangle. Could have survived and rolled away too! What a dumbarse...

* the end boss is SO easy. what are you guys doing?

This. So fucking sick of random MM idiots choosing Survival over Gold Rush.
