Cinematography is not a term you hear applied often to video games, but the entire presentation of Uncharted 2 makes such careful, astute use of camera angles to frame the action and lead the eye that it was demanding that I release it from the back room
Very much agree. I absolutely loved their use of the camera in this game. Especially amazing that they were able to compose the images so well without hindering the player.

Started the game today and man is it awesome so far..

Favorite dialogue so far.

"Drake Lookout!.. there's an enemy above you"

/Ledge takedown
(2 seconds later in exactly the same tone of voice)

"Drake Lookout!... there's an enemy below you"

I CRACKED up when i heard that...

Intentional?

ha, I noticed that earlier when I was trying to work out if the ND on the back on his shirt stood for Nathan Drake or Naughty Dog.

This discussion was done when Uncharted 1 came out. And I believe ND explicitly said that was no coincidence.

Played for a while, had no problems. Then, after one online match, my money added up, and then it froze. I reset my PS3, everything ran fine, no problems. I start the game again, and then go into another online match. It then freezes after my money adds up again for a bit, and quickly turns to black and then the dagger appears and stays there forever. I reset my PS3 just to see if it works, and it did. Hopefully whatever is happening doesn't happen tomorrow when I play again. :/

I rarely play single player games through more than once but I can totally see myself doing this one again. Just so many amazing moments... The train level was insane!

Finished it on crushing, and went back to get the missing treasures from each level. All I have left to do is get the rest of the trophies and unlock that platinum one! Great game, best single player experience I've had since the original Metal Gear Solid 11 years ago. That damn good! This game was worth the PS3 purchase, my GOTY so far.

Just started on my 5th playthrough, 2nd Crushing playthrough. Yes I'm keeping track because I got to top my 11th Uncharted playthroughs and 5 of them were Crushing playthroughs.

Just beat the game in 10:59:31 on normal. Mmmhhm, so good.

Curious, what was everyone's hit % in their first run? Mine was 42.47%.

But yeah, I think everything has been pretty much said about this game and how good it is. Final boss bottle, while a bit annoying (and nowhere near the announce of Killzone 2's final boss), was done really well compared to the first's.

oh, do you get extra money for having the negative perks?
Somewhat. Every 5 kills you get...you get $20,000. At least with the Invalid Booster (half health). Downside is, half health and no fast-reloading :(

I got over 50% accuracy which is pretty bad because I rapid fire and do blind shot running steel fist a lot. Oh well it's better to take enemies out as soon as possible.

I have a soundtrack question, hopefully someone can answer it... does anyone know what track is playing in the part after
Jeff is killed and Nate and Elena are running through the streets trying to evade being shot (wicked slo mo shot with the helicopter)? Is that on the soundtrack?

ok I'm done with this multiplayer until I see the words "fixed blind throw grenades"

See you guys in Uncharted 3. (but hopefully sooner)

I just got done with the train level. I felt like I was actually on a train, amazing.

That's almost as mindblowing as realizing that FTW is just WTF backwards.

Oh and I found an out of map glitch myself recently. It's in single player. Nothing exciting to do with it, though... No video so here's a description.

Chapter: 2
Location: Very last section of the chapter, when you are running through the sewer and there are guys on catwalks above you.

When you first enter that area and the only way to turn is left, turn right instead to the dead end. Go to the barred up archway in the middle of the wall at the dead end. On this one archway only, you can jump into the bars and hang from them. Once hanging, to a reversal as if you were on a pole. You'll go right through the bars. Now you can drop down and you'll be on the other side. When you go in a couple steps, everything disappears except the enemies. A few more steps and you fall to your death. Couldn't figure out anything else cool to do with it unfortunately.

Just finished the game. WOW. The
shambala level
rivaled something seen out of Final Fantasy. The integration of gameplay on moving geometry was incredible, the story was fantastic, overall gunplay gameplay amazing, chase sequences insane, the animation/graphics out of this world, characters so well developed and perfect length for the single player campaign without dragging anything out.

One of the best game experiences I've ever had. Really makes me question the 90% that GT gave it, definitely wasn't a fair score. Doesn't matter in the end, it didn't dampen my experience.

Absolutely incredible. Only nit-pick I would have is that sometimes when you would dodge roll you'd get stuck. That was frustrating a couple of times towards the end.

A generation defining experience. Just wow.

This was discussed in the original Uncharted thread, and again in another one. I had noticed it since we first got his name, and at that point, it was mind blowing, lol

I don't remember what my % was at the end of my first playthrough, but my current % is around 52-53% (not very good) and that is after about 60 hours worth of SP so far.

53% is not very good? Man, you're making me feel bad :lol

I remember back in my Counter-Strike days that a 30% hit ratio was considered good. But different game and style and all.

don't start with bullshit again. I swear, I get a little bit dumber every time I read it

I have been going out of my way to be more accurate as of late, though. I enabled the GAU during a recent playthrough to get the 200 kill trophy, and man did my % take a hit after that. :lol

Two playthroughs, first on hard and second on crushing. I also went back briefly to get some treasure that I missed as well.

Hit % 51.33

13,160/25636

Playtime 27 hours 5 minutes

The description for the trophy is a little misleading
since you don't need to fire a single bullet! :)

Play the Dig on Very Easy. After the grenade tutorial, run straight up and melee all the guys wearing gray, they go down in one hit. Punch, kick, over-the-shoulder toss, it doesn't matter, it counts. Avoid the guys in black, let Sully and his sniper rifle take care of them. Stay close to where Sully is sometimes so he doesn't steal your kills with the gray uniform guys. Ten guards later, trophy's yours.

It's fool proof. I was so frustrated with this trophy till I just said "fuck this shit." I was shocked at the outcome. :lol
Cool this worked.

OK, it is really getting to be a chore going for platinum. Still need to do survivor, Gau, hammer, grenade hang. Ugh.

For the weapon ones that are rare, just BUY them so you can equip them anywhere. For survivor I recommend The Monastery on very easy, because there's just tons and tons of guys to wipe out on that one.

Counter Strike is a lot different. 30% man that's pretty great accuracy. I had about 25-27% in the past. Counterstrike a lot of the battles are long range and each weapon have a different recoil/shooting speed characteristic and also the shooting randomize thing. A lot of 1.5 people were ticked that the bullet spread pattern was randomized in 1.6 :lol

Yeah, but even doing that is a chore. Man . . . I gotta kill 200 guys with the gau? I hardly used it play the campaign. Where am I gonna find 200 guys? Alright . . . the Monastery. I need some treasures there too. But I still need survivor and I might fuck up and die by constantly having to spawn the gau.

Ugh. Chore.

Wow just got this game. Uncharted is not a game...it's an experience. This game will be what all games that have the balls to say they're "cinematic" after this. I've NEVER fallen in love with characters as fleshed out as these. Truly outstanding ND.
