i've been playing mildly the last 2.5 days and i'm lvl 12. I have no good perks. I dont see people sticking with this game just to get something decent when they can play MW2 now.
Not to mention the characters you unlock are one every ten lvls which is idiotic, and the high end ones aren't interesting to begin with ( skeletons....oh joy).

What the shit only level 12 after 2.5days of play? I hit level 15 in like 3 hours of deathmatch only, on release day :lol

Shit I had a really good first match ending up getting levels 1-6 or 7ish in one match.

Curious, how many players are in UC2 right now? (online) And also...I can't imagine out of all the copies of the game sold, only 15-5000 people are playing it. Aren't the servers broken up?

Like will it ever say "500,000" people are on 1 server?

The problem with UC2 online is that it takes far too long to lvl up to where you can get decent perks and more characters to choose from, and people just dont want to wait that long, and also with the perks, it's going to be A LONG TIME before the perks start differentiating play styles you'll only have a couple of useless ones for several hours of playing.
I've been playing since launch, and I've always been using From the Hip and Bandoleer as my perks. Both of them unlock really early.

Seriously, Treasure Bearer and Deposit are the only good perks (besides the badge of honor ones) that unlock at the higher ranks. The good stuff is unlocked in the green and blue badges (below 20). Don't use Down the Irons though.

Yeah, did he REALLY spoil a major part of the ending? When I was just looking for a funny rant and am just halfway through? Fugga. *middle finger*

I just hope Elena will grow on me, because only having played UC2 I definitely like Chloe. They better give her some screen time.

He does that shit all the time. If you haven't played through a game dont listen to his review of it. I found it pretty funny but just like his other reviews i dont take them too seriously even though he does a better job at telling what sucks about the games than most big sites, i totally agree with him that the puzzles are fucking stupid when you just have to look in your book everytime.

But that it's still my game of the gen so far even with boring way too easy puzzles and horrible matchmaking really shows how much stuff it does to perfection.

That review mostly nails all the problems i have with the game though, ESPECIALLY how you can only climb on what they want you to climb on and this leads you to dry humping many objects that you think should be climbable but magically arent.

When you see a player frozen in place, does this mean they're lag-switching? I tried shooting a guy who was frozen in place but he didn't die. Well, we still won 5-0.

People shouldn't read any kind of reviews if they don't want a game spoiled, I think. If you go and read pretty much every uncharted 2 review out there, there will be spoilers. The
heist, train and shambala
levels are all spoiled in reviews. I kept my media blackout (videos, screenshots and reviews) until I was done with the single player for the game. A friend of mine read the eurogamer review and got spoiler in the first two paragraphs. Just stay clear of reviews.

I don't know, you still have to "solve" the puzzle, even if it's pointed out in the journal. Remember that Uncharted is more an action game than an adventure/puzzle game, so it wouldn't make sense for players to be stuck for hours in a puzzle. It would break the pace of the game and people would just give up. Disclaimer: I come from a PC gaming background and know about REAL puzzles (point and click adventure games, survival horror games, etc), so for me this is no different than every other watered down puzzle I've been seeing since resident evil arrived at the scene. Would I love for some real mind bending puzzles? Of course I do. Do they fit in the style of the game? Probably not.

I'd rather they branched out and improved the climbing, stealth and melee mechanics (to have melee combos again, better stealth and seamless/open climbing) than the puzzles, but I wouldn't mind if they did some mayan/aztec contraptions next time as well. It's just that calling the puzzles "fucking stupid" seems a bit too much for me. (:

what the fuck at the martyrdom perk in this game.
to be fair, most people aren't going to get to level forty-something, and when they dp, there's usually a more useful perk to choose, so it isn't really a problem.

If anything, a couple of puzzles in this game are really nicely and meaningfuly integrated into the story an action like
machine gun guy on the train, lowering spiky ceiling and shooting at the eye of the statue when you get stuck and cant climb up
. All mini puzzles but nice nonetheless and better suited for the kind of game than if the presented you with some arbitrary puzzle screen with switchboards or some such. Some others could have been done better or at least made so that they can be solved without diary, just by looking closer to symbols and such on the screen, but I'm much happier about it than what I felt about first game in that sense.

About the last battle:

Fuck that battle with Lazaravich. I kept god damn dieing. Especially the part where he starts throwing four grenades. Fuck him!!!!!!!!1111

Most people who use this perk got it as a preorder bonus, and it's fucking annoying sometimes.

There is a technique that makes him really easy, even on crushing, youtube is your friend

Revenge is awesome. It's a guaranteed ~ 2 kills per round for me. And looking at the booster list, there's nothing better than Revenge that I prefer even at higher levels. I only switch it out to "Treasure Bearer" or whatever it's called to run faster with the treasure during Plunder.

I use Explosive Expert when I know there are lots of grenades in the level, Keep Firing/Deposit/Treasure Bearer depending on mode.

Finally played through an entire co-op mission. Wow that was amazing fun. Even with pubbies with no mics we stuck together and did a great job. This game has everything.

Eh, it seems like he was trying very hard to hate it. Sure it's not entirely original, but that's no reason to shit on it like that.

Trying too hard. When you have to rehash the tired argument how its a tombraider and gears rip off topped with complaining about a bonus feature(zero gravity) I think that defines grasping at straws. If most games were reviewed as harshly as uncharted2, they wouldn't make it to Peg1.A of Step1. Thats the only thing that irritates me. Gears wasn't cliche at all right? And Tomb Raider wasn't just Indian Jones with a girl?.. I mean I wish those high standards stayed in gaming, it would mean that developers couldn't get away with bullshit but it seems to be a bit unbalanced with a focus on the PS3.

Uncharted2 isn't worth the time, but Dragons age is?

And...

and....

No mention of multiplayer?

People gladly take cliche stories and half ass 1.5 versions of games all the time with smiles. Until certain games show up to the line, and the bouncer says "wait a minute, show me something I've never seen before!"

It's just 1 man's opinion. I love the Escapist. I enjoyed his Uncharted 1's review but the second seems to samey.

The guy is a bitcher reviewer, he has to bitch about something. We all should know that already.

All I need left are the Crushing trophy, and the two multiplayer trophies. I'm thinking of waiting till I get my new monitor to get them though because playing in SD sucks ass, lol. I kinda cheated myself by using modifiers to get the last few gun kill trophies though :/

Remember, what Yahtzee does is a comedy routine. Don't treat it the way you would a real review - just like you wouldn't punch Don Rickles for insulting you. It's just his schtick.

Thank god he vindicated your opinion and proved everyone else's wrong.

Oh, sorry. I mean if two people have the same complaints, I think we should all dislike the game for similar reasons. Silly us!

Oh, sorry. I mean if most of the gamers love this game, I think me and Yahtzee should love it too, Silly us!

Don't use phrases like "I was trying to tell you in this thread but you would not listen..." then.

I was not telling anybody not to play this game, I was just saying my thoughts about it, I was saying how retarded and imbecile it is but people started defending it.

Yahtzee shits on everything just for the sake of shitting on it. It's the whole point of his site, it's pretty much satirical. I'm not sure agreeing with him with a straight face is supposed to make you look good or something.

Bull shit.

Have you seen Portal review? Gears of war 2 review? CoD4 review? watch them.

Anyway whatever the reason he absolutely expressed how I felt about this game, some of the words even matched, for instant I call this type of games pop corn games, you play, you shit, you sleep and don`t remember anything about it...

Right, that was before you were inexplicably singing the praises of Naughty Dog, which you followed up with quality posts like:

You're doing great. Keep it up, I expect you to have a long and prosperous stay here at NeoGAF.

I say it again, game looks phenomenal, probably one of the best looking games ever, but it is still imbecile in almost every other way and thats exactly what Yahtzee said :D

I think Modern Warfare 2 is going to win GOTY from the majority of sites. Not a total majority, maybe 70/30, something like that.

- It's multi-platform
- The media and fan hype for UC2 was huge, but still not as big as MW2.

- The complaint I saw the most about UC2 was "it's not innovative, it's just a Gears-Tomb Raider-Indiana Jones copy". MW2 has been immune to the "doesn't do anything particularity new" complaints, for some reason. Actually it's been immune to most complaints that other games are subjected to, like the very short campaign.

- MW2 is about more serious, current issues, while UC2 is more like a summer action movie.

- IW will get points for doing that controversial scene that got people talking, while UC2 doesn't have anything like that.

- The multiplayer in MW2 is much more advanced and refined.

I haven't played MW2 so I don't know what game I would like more, this is just my gut feeling. Just by reading the official thread though, I doubt MW2 would surpass UC2 for me. UC2 is my game of the gen. It's innovative in its great pacing, grand set-pieces, spot-on voice acting, genuinely amusing dialogue, and realistic characters. The last three seems to be lost on the "doesn't do anything new" people on how important they are. We've been stuck with poor characters, voice acting and dialogue for the entire history of videogames, and Naughty Dog pushed the industry forward with what they did there.

We'll see what happens when the hype for MW2 calms down a bit. There has been a lot of negativity around this title to also take into consideration. UC2 had surprisingly very little hype backlash.

Talking about the reasons you don't like this game is perfectly fine, but saying things like "retarded" and "imbecile" is not the way to go.
