Awesome, just beat the game on Crushing. As already said, Uncharted 1's Crushing mode was a lot harder.

Now all that is left are a couple of easier trophies, and then I'll have my 4th Platinum Trophy!

What a game! Played through it on Hard in about 11 hours.

Overall I noticed that there were no overly difficult gun fights. There is nothing like trapped, the monastery courtyard or inside the church. I could have just had beginners luck with hard sections too.

The game gave a better illusion of open areas than the first but there were still times when I only knew where to go because it was the only way forward. Sneaking around mercenaries was enjoyable, Uncharted 2 is a better MGS4 than MGS4 when it wants to be.

Near the end I was thinking of "choose your own adventure" choices because I did not know what was coming next. ND did too great of a job with the action adventure movie experience to suggest that in a future game though.

46 seconds long Chain Reaction :D
Our last record was 52 seconds in the beta. It may be possible to do it in maybe 40 seconds but we ran pretty much straight through so it will be tough

I think the multiplayer suffered, maybe, from not rewarding the player with enough during the early game. In those early levels it was kind of hard to keep the morale up, but I slogged through it because I wanted to try some of the later boosters (even though I'm only now at Level 20). Things like the AK were pretty much useless to me without the booster that steadies your aim (down the irons?), and that got a bit frustrating. I know some people are against the constant babying some games do, but the games I usually stick with, like the MW games or TF2, are usually really good about giving the player positive feedback when they first start playing. Adding some sort of indication as to what I just unlocked in the store when I level up could be helpful, too. :)

On a simpler level, perhaps making the amount of cash you earn when you complete something relevant could be more clear as well? Maybe just knick the COD style "+100" when you kill someone or capture a zone or something.

On the other hand, all seven of the maps in the game are fantastic! I hope we get a Sanctuary remake in UC3... or a Lost City remake... or a Trai -- okay, I'll stop.

Oh, and I kind of liked the rate at which money was obtained during the double-money weekend, maybe that could become the standard at some point... =P

I'm halfway through the single player and the game is just absolutely FANTASTIC! I just can't put the controller down. The graphics are plain beautiful (AMAAAAAAAAAAAZING) and I just finished the train sequence. OMFG! The story is great and makes me want more. Its humorous, charming and emotional. The characters are really interesting and keeps the story going. The music is epic and I did not expect any less. And the pacing is absolutely fantastic. Best PS3 game to date. I LOVE THIS GAME!!

Welcome to the club, it's my favorite MP game ever. Simple, fast, balanced, perfect.
Yeah definitely.

The only thing that's bothered me is in plunder the idol should prioritize over all the weapons and stuff usually surrounding it. I've had a bunch of times where I'm sifting through all the litter trying to get the idol. Every second counts.

more people need to be buying this game AND playing the multiplayer. There are so many fun game modes when there are a lot of people. It's even better when you play with your friends.

I remember last week it seemed that there were 12,000+ people online, now the most I see is 8000 with an average low of around 5000.

I like playing this multiplayer, though when will they add more stuff to it?

I really do think they should have added trophies to the online portion. Yeah, a lot of people don't like online trophies, but maybe it would have made more people play the online so that they could get Platinum.

Well I'm glad they didn't because I'm not that into online play unless it is co-op.

And related . . . I finally went through and did nearly all the stuff to get my platinum. . . . but I just need to play the online parts to finish it up. Probably the only Platinum I'll ever get on the PS3.

Cheats are disabled on Crushing IIRC.

You can only use tweaks that don't affect gameplay.
ok thanks, purchasing guns seems to be disabled so hopefully fast mode won't screw me up as it was allowed.

Actually, there is a glitch where you can use cheats on a difficulty you haven't finished the game on yet. It's in the secrets section on gamefaqs.

Even though I've got the plat, I'm going through again on hard with Doughnut Drake, one shot kill, and no gravity all enabled. Awesome experience lol. Drake sounds like Patrick from Spongebob now. Not sure why they needed to make him sound different because he's fat.... but it is funny haha.

ND please change the current players number with an active players number like most games do because GAF is confusing the two and can't stop talking about it. Not only it's the most meaningless discussion but they're also wrong because they're comparing different values.

I think ND have more important things to be doing with their time rather than worrying about whether a handful of people on GAF are discussing their players online number. :lol

priorities, dude: reassess them

Well you can go to the menu and change to hard. Then enable the tweaks and then change it to chrushing again. That works, i did it because i'm a noob and that huge battle near the end was too much for me.:D

I was half kidding. But seriously current players aren't active players you see on most games so please for the love of god stop talking about it. Someone even claimed that he had a 9 person match because there weren't enough players playing the game. It's not because there aren't enough players it's because matchmaking sucks. Let's focus on that please.

I have a bunch of my friends still playing Uncharted 2's online. Heck I played a good 2 hours today.. then jumped on cod for like 6 :P When I went on earlier they had 8k playing.

I don't think using a gimmick to get people to play the multi-player is a good idea. The two trophies they have there are good enough to get people to at least try it out. If people like the MP naturally then that's good, if not then so be it.

I don't want trophies for online MP in the future thank you!

It's bad enough I had to go and played MP just to get those two trophies. Anymore and I wouldn't have been interested in the game. I just don't like MP and I don't want it to be forced on me.

Me neither. If only Single player and Multi have their own separate trophy. So you can platinum a game up to 2 times depending if you platinum Campaign or Multi.

Awesome games today Dave, Bajan, Jeramii & Viperman, Best party ever!

Revelation of tonight was Viperman's awesome singing voice :lol

And I played with the first naughty dog dev team member EVER today! It was a very short match though in chain reaction. His name was MojoRyzen if I remember right :D

ND do need to speed up the process to finding people to play with. If it was fast as hell player count would mean nothing.

Well in my case, the matchmaking seems to be as fast as MW2, I think some people think MW2 is faster because it gives you way more info on the screen about finding a match, like a progress number on the number of games it is looking for for you, etc.

I just hope to avoid 3 vs 3 matches in the future, lol, one time two of my teammates quit so it was me versus 3.

Finally unlocked Crushing co-op; Hard was a real challenge on The Village! Really neat endings, though mixed feelings

Nepal Warzone easily has the best setting but a shitty finale
The Village had a kinda neat finale and it was challenging all around, lots of baddies (Though this is the only one I've compelted on hard)
Sanctuary has a great finale setpiece, one of the few in co-op scenarios and has alot of climbing

Down the Iron's either should have been available immediately or not exist. When a large portion of the population is using one booster, it's not balanced with everything else. Grenades could probably be tweaked a bit. Matchmaking could uses some work, a PuG playlist would be good. Instead of penalizing quitting they should have neutered it by allowing people to join games in progress. That makes for quicker search times, more choice and less frustration.

Other than that the only stuff I can think of would be playing around with the fundamentals of the game. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 tried something where they positioned the third person camera while in cover so that you couldn't really use it to see around corners, over walls etc. I've always wanted to see that tried from day one with a third person shooter.

Yep

Silly Insomniac made a huge mistake when they made that "10,000 kills in competitive mode" Trophy

That's some dumb shit right there and it just ended up pissing off the majority of it's fans it seems.

You're preaching to the choir.

Ahem, yes I don't claim to be first to think it up. But hey who knows, repetition might help if there are any ND spooks reading this. I know it sounds very self-important but we might make a difference. There's always a sequel/new IP to think about.

It's a great effort on the multiplayer front in general though. I enjoy it a great deal more than Gears take on the third person shooter.

argh, I hate useless NPC allies.

Ever notice that your partners in the maingame... cant actually kill anyone?
I'm out of ammo, there's 1 guy left (armored shotgun dude) in this area, so I figured i'd let the blonde and brunette take him out. So they pepper him a few times, his armor falls off... and now we're going on 5-6 minutes of the two of them continually shooting him, him occasionally shooting back, but mostly getting hit and bleeding... and not dying.

I'm sitting here watching them hit him, and he won't go down. So useless :(
Oh well, I'll punch him.

An aside for people complaining about imbalanced teams via the match making, you're almost always going to get worse results in having a balanced team the smaller your pool of players are. When people talk about how Halo 3 works so well, well go figure, there are tens of thousands of people to draw on and match up at any given time.

There's several reasons, but if we could have made a join game in progress function that worked with our MP game design, it would be in there. But it wasn't possible for this release.

They can - but on higher difficulties, their effectiveness is lessened. If you play on normal and then on hard, you can see this very easily.

They probably have less effect on those tougher guys too. As you noticed, they knocked off his armour, exposing him for a single headshot that you can make.

DtI is absolutely broken. Focus on that side of his post. :P

Just beat this game earlier today. The attention to detail and level of craft that went into this game is unmatched as far as I can tell. It sets a high-water mark for overall quality for the medium, at least I think it does.

Amazing stuff.

I just tested it some more...yea, they can kill (it does take a ton of shots) but I don't think they can kill the 'last guy' in a zone, so to speak. Like if you need 1 last enemy to trigger a cutscene or check point, I don't think they can finish him off. I've been paying closer attention and this seems to be the case as in my first post above.

I would hate it if an NPC stole my kill.

Yep, watched a battle for about 10 min before I realized this.

The good news is that they soften them up to go down in just one hit :D

I think Naughty Dog took the exact correct approach for trophies in this game: I'm mainly a single-player gamer, and hate it when I play a game for SP and only get a few trophies (Wolfenstein was a terrible offender). A few trophies to try out the MP is great, let people check it out, but any more is pushing it and punishing fans who mainly want to play SP.

However, I ended up loving the MP and I play it a lot (just dinged 40 last night) - I'd love to see some MP trophies added via DLC. You can still get a Plat without heavily investing in the MP, but for the MP fans, there are trophies to collect via DLC. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

If you enjoy the platforming and puzzle parts of Uncharted 2 then I really recommend trying Tomb Raider Anniversary. Obviously it'll be a huge graphical downgrade, but the gameplay and sense of exploration still stand up.

Help me decide on my next game! I'm eventually getting both, but can't pick between this or Dragon Age. I'm leaning towards the latter, only because it will last longer. Is the story/gameplay in this that great to justify full price (for a short game)?
