uncharted 3 is a glitchy disaster :|

I've seen plenty of people with problems with the game, from audio cutting out to cutscene jitter, both of which I had and there was no solution for, even when other games including Uncharted 1 and 2 work perfectly fine.

Didn't crash or have problems loading sections of the game for me though, it was still a good game but simply just not as great as U2 was.

The only glitch I had was fighting the Brute with the minigun just before the theatre at the end of the ship level. I hid up in the storage crates, and then an errant wave through the Brute towards the storage crates, he clipped the crate and got stuck inside, and since I couldn't finish him off, I couldn't continue. Ended up suiciding after I chucked all my grenade at the portion of his geometry that was still outside the crates.

(PS3 Fat, 60GB, played it in January post-patches, US region)

Terrible game and an absolute bore to play through. People only.gave.it high scores because it was "cinematic" and has nice gfx. Golden abyss is so much better and a lot more fun.
You really think that's the only reason? I absolutely loved the game.

The combat was exciting and fun, the environments were interesting to navigate, the story was fun, and the game was full of all sorts of impressive set pieces. It was a lot of fun to play. It wasn't simply due to its cinematic nature or impressive visuals.

So that actually glitches him? I actually thought that was the only way to kill them for like 40 minutes. I kept going around and around trying to trap him lol. Even managed to kill myself.

if you don't get gushy over the set pieces/story/characters, there isn't a whole lot of gameplay in the uncharted games.

if your just into 3rd person blasting, there are many far better choices.

I like the games for what they are, they usually hit the spot when they come out, but I was a bit disappointed, after the 2nd one, you are expecting a complete tech marvel, but there was a lot of stupid problems.

when you see the guys not reacting to gunshots, that sucks.

I found it to be a broken glitchy mess as well. In the shipyard I jumped from one ledge to the next and for some reason Nate didn't grab the ledge like he was supposed to. This caused the game to freak the fuck out because Nate was supposed to automatically grab the ledge and it didn't know what to do. It ended up just warping me to the ledge at the next checkpoint about 5 ledges down.

While climbing/jumping down the side of the large, rusty ship, right? The exact same thing happened to me.

Other than that I encountered no major glitches during my playthrough, but it certainly felt a bit less polished than U2 on several occasions.

haha I did the same, but he wouldn't go into that stupid gap, he doesn't really flinch much when I shot him so I thought he's just an unbeatable robot. After a while trying to lure him i just unload all my ammos on his silly head and he drops, so much time wasted.

It wasn't as polished as UC2, but I didn't experience anything bad enough to call it a glitchy disaster.

That being said, UC3 was literally the worst game I've ever played in my life.

Really? One of the things I find so appealing about the combat in Uncharted is how agile your character. Unlike Gears (which I also adore), where you generally hunker down and slowly work your way across the battle field, Uncharted allows you to climb around the scenery and take advantage of stealth and melee kills. The ship graveyard sequence was one of the most exciting battles I've ever played in a shooter for this reason. The game affords the player so many different options for tackling any scenario and replaying each scenario can yield very different results depending on how you play. You can massively increase or decrease the length of a battle based on your skills. It's a quality shared by precious few shooters (Halo is one of the best at this in its own way). When you add all of the other elements into the mix the whole package comes off as exciting and full of variety.

Furthermore, these acrobatic elements make for a tremendously fun multiplayer game. Uncharted is one of the only competitive games that I really genuinely enjoy as it rewards many different styles of play rather than focusing on who can aim the fastest. I've had infinitely more fun with UC3 online than Battlefield, CoD, and just about everything else last year combined.

The same cannot be said of many other shooters which ultimately end up playing out the same way most of the time. Call of Duty is the worst offender in that you are at the mercy of the developers pacing decisions. You cannot move slower or faster than the designer intended. You follow the script to proceed.

I never ran into any major issues, but it did feel like a much less polished game than its predecessors. One memory that stands out was in the chateau, there was one door where every time I walked through Drake would have a crazy spasm due to the "run hand along wall" animation. (Great game though)

I had the exact same thing happen, except I played it pre-patch and on a Euro 60GB PS3. Decided to suicide and it worked fine the second time.

The game certainly isn't bug free, but the OP's experience isn't something I've heard from anyone else. Sounds like the game was having trouble streaming in environments fast enough, I had similar problems when playing some on rail shooters on a faulty Wii. You'd try to open a door to the next area and the game would just hang around waiting for the next room to load in... but it never did.

Had no glitches myself when playing other than the audio cutting out a couple of times. Reading this thread, it doesn't seem like 'glitchy disaster' describes most people's experience with the game. Nice hyperbolic thread title.

That is the most gamestop employee comment I've seen today.

Can't we ban for crap like this?

There's no room for something like this in this thread. You're adding nothing to the topic but deflection.

OP, I once had Drake fall through the geometry of the level and end up hanging on a ledge. I let go and was then treated to Drake falling forever with the blood curdling scream echoing for eternity. Suffice to say I reset. This was the only bug I had through my playthrough of the game.

Sorry first time I have heard of this. Did not experience it during my playthrough. Perhaps deleting the latest save game and restarting from an earlier check-point might help.

Anyways, I am surprised how this thread turned into Uncharted 3 bashing thread. It is always nice to have an opinion but sometimes it is best to keep it to oneself esp, when it is irrelevant to the OT.

Yea, it felt super rushed and glitchy to me. Seemed like Naughty Dog was rushing it for release date. The game is a mess and only shines for the graphics and cinematic experience. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10

Man, these types of comments are completely surprising to me. What types of issues did you encounter exactly? What about the game makes you feel it was only worth a 6 or 7? I can't figure that out at all.

I had two audio cut outs and one instance of the framerate dropping in Syria, but other than that, flawless.

Not as polished as Uncharted 2, but certainly far from the buggiest experiences I've had this gen. If I had to guess though, the OP's PS3 might be in danger of having his Blu-Ray drive dying.

The game froze on me once, right before music started playing lol

*stealth area, staying above the bad guys while deciding what to do next, no music
*game just stops
"dun dun DUNNNN"

Uncharted 3 is just a bad game. I gave up from how boring, and simply not fun, the game was when I reached the citadel. Just terrible game design.

Have no idea how they went from Uncharted 2 to this.

It was while climbing around the rusty ships yes. It actually happened to me twice, I can't remember specifically which platforming section(s) though.

sounds like your blu ray drive might be in trouble. i didn't have any issues with uc3, but other games started having similar issues when my drive was on it's way out.

Care to elaborate on the issues? Terrible game design? What? How exactly?!

I'm completely baffled by some of the crazy opinions being shared here.

There were a little audio skips, but I don't remember anything major happening when I played the game. It's less polished compared to Uncharted 2, that's for sure.

so Uncharted 3 is the new MGS4?

Enslaved is a "6 or 7 out of 10" game, IMO. Uncharted 3 is in a completely different class in every major category. Sure, I enjoyed Uncharted 2 more, but still had a blast with 3. Desert and cruiseship levels were stand-outs to me.

Crazy opinions? The game's pacing was incredibly unbalanced, bouncing you from one pseudo-interactive setpiece to another. Every now and then it would force you into chase sequences in which one wrong step that deviates from the intended path results in a nonsensical fail-state. As if essentially pretending to participate in the game's events wasn't bad enough, the actual gameplay (i.e. combat) was incredibly frustrating and un-fun due to bullet-sponge enemies and twitchy aiming (before the patch). Combine that with a mixture of brain-dead and overly confusing puzzles and a story that loses itself along the way, and you get an extremely disappointing follow-up to UC2.

After I finished UC3, I sat there and thought to myself, "At no point in this game was I actually having fun."

I then played through Mario Galaxy and Vanquish to cleanse myself of UC3's "interactive entertainment" aftertaste.

The shooting just felt awful in this game. Combat is terrible in all of the Unchartrd games, but this one just felt like a chore to play. They really need to take notes from Gears or Vanqhish on making a TPS fun to play. The melee is just down right awful and forced... The story wasn't very exciting, and the ending was just UC2 all over again... Such lazy game design... The franchise needs more focus on platforming/exploring/puzzles.. Less combat in UC4 please!
