uncharted 3 is a glitchy disaster :|

The shooting just felt awful in this game. Combat is terrible in all of the Unchartrd games, but this one just felt like a chore to play. They really need to take notes from Gears or Vanqhish on making a TPS fun to play. The melee is just down right awful and forced... The story wasn't very exciting, and the ending was just UC2 all over again... Such lazy game design... The franchise needs more focus on platforming/exploring/puzzles.. Less combat in UC4 please!

Yea, it felt super rushed and glitchy to me. Seemed like Naughty Dog was rushing it for release date. The game is a mess and only shines for the graphics and cinematic experience. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10

I have to agree with this. Funny thing is, I'm thinking about going back to Vanquish myself. Even if the glitchy mess is the hardware's fault, maybe ND should not have "abused" the hardware so much.

the game did seem to lack a bit of the polish that 2 had, but I've played through twice and never came across a "bug" that affected gameplay. Sure there were a few things that looked a bit off (like when Drake would have his hand on the "wall" but be well away from it), but nothing real bad.

The game is not a disaster but I had quite a few issues as I went through the campaign.

- I fell through the building geometry (into whiteness) during the youngster building chase section.

- Had at least two hard system lockups

- Stuck in geometry like this below happen at least two times. The time below I had to get my phone out to snap a pic for posterity.

I think that its safe to say that uncharted 3 was not even close to as polished as part 2 was at release.

I think Uncharted 3 has the most polished combat/platforming in the series. I must be in the minority...........Oh wait! 99% of the rave reviews agree. ;-)

Pressing buttons corresponding to prompts that flash upon the screen at the right moment in order to trigger a lengthy canned animation of Drake punching or countering the brute's attacks is objectively NOT a QTE?

They might have removed the prompts on crushing, but you're still tapping a designated button and then watching lengthy animations transpire (the same ones every single time).

Are we really gonna do this shit all over again? we had a thread, it was a fucking disaster, can we please move on?

still playing U3 but game is as great as previous so far. Only story is the thing that needs a serious improvement. Gunplay is way more varied than gears, i like both and both are the best tps, each in their own way. I find vanquish pretty boring and repetitive, it pkays well but game es the same all the time.
But some seem to hate uncharted's success.

i sort of agree. i ran into a bunch of glitchy game play and bugs in uncharted 3. still a good game, but a let down from 2's near perfection. ND is starting to slip.

I had lots of glitches and 3 crashes in my single playthrough (on a slim), one of which was an animation lock-up where Drake's arms shot out to his sides going through a doorway, and I had no control. Reset. 3-beep crashed twice outside of that... one just playing and the other when I simply wanted to save my game. I did have a soft crash pretty late in UC2, but it was otherwise very clean.

Probably some wonkiness in the "touch every wall and object as you go past it" routine. That aspect of the animation was the most noticeably terrible (although it had good intentions, it was poorly executed).

I like Uncharted but it makes me fart whenever I fire off a round with the shotgun. If I time my release I can make the gun sound all wet, sorta sploogy.
For me the game went from being a 9 to a 10 after that.

Please, Vanquish is overrated crap (neogafs word for mediocre). You can't make good mechanics and call it a day, you need to make a game around it. Gears doesn't even have the mechanics let alone a quality game, unless you think moving like a potato is good mechanics.

The encounters in the uncharted series trump gears in creativity, fun factor, and strategy wise. Hanging from a sign (U2), stuck in a well with enemies where you need to use speed and accuracy, running from a tank, moving platforms (caravans) while shooting enemies, and of course the ship graveyard section prove this. The worst thing about U3 is that they went overboard with armored guards mixed with snipers and rocketlaunchers. U3 is still great despite that issue.

Lol!!!! Vanquish is one of the best games this gen... That's not even debatable :p

Probably ur ps3 op. Never had anything even remotely close to that happen to me.
Edit-actually I did fall through the world one time, had it freeze on me one or two times too. But that was it.

Aaahh, you played your hand my friend. It was not a good hand.

Very very hard to win a round of poker with a 7 and a 4.

I had a couple of times where all the characters got lined up in their standard "T" animation poses, which was.. well odd. Voice acting continued and all, but they where stuck in that pose for a couple of seconds.

The graphics are great, gameplay.. not so much. I enjoy the puzzles, but the whole combat, soooo many enemies!

I'm happy to see so much Uncharted bashing. It makes me feel like I was right all along ^_^

That's the problem; too many people want to feel validated by the opinions of others. I speak my mind and move on; don't care whether others agree with me or not. What's there to be right about? And who is ever happy to see a game get bashed?

well.. not surprising when their top crew has been on "The Last of Us" during the development of UC3

lol everything you just cited is just cinematic crap. It adds nothing to the actual gameplay. I'd take Gears gunplay over Uncharted's anyday. All the added platforming, free roaming, etc in Uncharted just makes the gunplay feel like a cobbled together mess. It doesn't have the tightness of Gears in any shape or form.

It was incredibly disappointing. I can't even bring myself to turn it on again.

This. I was itching to Platinum Uncharted 2 and did the same with the first game. Uncharted 3 however? I was so happy to just finish it once and put the game away. Incredibly disappointing.

I agree with all saying Uncharted has great gunplay, it feels better and more varied than the simple stop, hide and pop gameplay other games have.

I actually thought that UC2 had very enjoyable gunplay. The controls were smooth, the enemies reacted realistically to bullet impacts (aka no bullet sponges), the enemy AI was balanced and believable, and the combat scenarios were designed in a way that was enjoyable. Best of all, there were no forced QTE fisticuffs.

All of that went right out the window in UC3. Every fight was a tedious chore in the third game, especially before the patch.

I definitely agree about Uncharted 2 and I also agree that Uncharted 3 is definitely less polished than Uncharted 2. Still, I think Uncharted 3's gameplay is/was far more fun than Gears's.

Pretty much this. calling it a "disaster" is making it seem like your experience is the only one that matters

It is the only one that matters. The fact that other people didn't notice problems doesn't help the OP at all.

How is that cinematic crap? When you're hanging from a billboard, you have to be quick and constantly scan the environments to take guys out, otherwise you will be shot from multiple directions. Since you have no place to go, you will die. The ship graveyard section is more dynamic than anything in Gears, constantly using the water to hide from enemies and flank them, escape from danger etc. All these moments are just small sections in the game that add variety. You still have the typical combat you find in Gears, only with a much more nimble character and less reliance on sleeping behind cover.

Yes, this building was horrible! I had a bunch of bugs there. Chloe was getting stuck in floors. I had a bunch of dialogue cutting out during the whole game. Young Drake fell through geometry for me. I had 3 hard locks throughout my first playthrough. And there were quite a few other hiccups here and there. I haven't had any problems since then, but man, that first play through was rough. It definitely hurt my first impression of the game.

What does that even mean?

Because Uncharted is part platformer and you can shoot shit from a ledge? So?

What's the point in 'varied gunplay' when the gunplay is so sub-par?

How is it sub-par? You can aim, change weapons, cover, change arm, shoot from hip, like any other tps. Enemies are bullet sponges like in gears, but you can jump shoot from ledge, climb which makes it more varied than most of the rest of the crowd. What do you mean? Dislike it? Great, i didn,t enjoy vanquish very much, but that does not mean is sub par. I enjoyed dark sector way more than vanquish for example. Sub-par would be lost planet for me.

The ship graveyard is the perfect example of how much fun and diverse Uncharted's gameplay is, however, that section is not completely representative of the overall gameplay scenarios.

There's never the same level of dynamism in the game.

Naughty Dog - have you looked into this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Ltvi9VEes

Ran into it on my first play through, and the only way to fix it is to restart the PS3 (reloading the game doesn't fix it). This was the Pal version (UK) with the latest PS3 firmware. It's all over YouTube so it appears to be pretty common. Any chance of fixing this?

I'm on a 60gb fat ps3, never noticed anything on my playthrough.
The only thing I have is that the disk seems thicker than most games and doesn't load so easy on the slot. Anybody else noticed that?

There's only one bug I encountered in Uncharted 3.

I was on the boat while it was sinking. I was climbing doors vertically and when I reached the top one, Drake just didn't wanted to climb up. Then he just popped out of view and he went out of world I don't know how far from the game's world.

What is this shit ?! I was all excited to play and during rough seas chapter things went haywire! I couldn't jump ships and the audio cut out, no more Drake QUIPS! I got through it, but then in Cruisin for a Bruisin it completely through its hands up at me! After a sea of enemies swarmed me, I went to slide open the big red door and guess what awaited me. Not a room.. But a DEAD SEA of nothingness! Why the hell Naughty Dogs ?!

What a let down, too many enemies but I was enjoying the story. I can't even download the patches from my ps3 if they exist because my internet provider is a slut.. This is truly unnacceptable. They really shit the bed on this one. :/

Anyone else having to go through this malarkey?

Seems there is a history of Uncharted games randomly and maliciously targeting certain gamers in the minority and glitching out like shit. People said Uncharted 2 was largely glitch free, but I experienced glitch after glitch after glitch:

UnchartedGlitch01.jpg

UnchartedGlitch02.jpg

Most people never experienced this stuff, but I encountered no less than 10~12 severe glitches in Uncharted 2. I found only a few others who shared my experience.

Uncharted 3, however, worked mostly fine for me, except for the random instant kills for "breaking" the games arbitrary borders when searching for treasures, since the unholy hand of Naughty Dog didn't want me going even one inch past the path they set off for me.

I am, because it's good that people are realizing that Uncharted is complete bullshit whenever the game breaks from the cinematics/scripted bits. It builds good taste.
