Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

I completely disagree. Jaggies are extremely visible to my eyes. Uncharted 2 with it's 2xMSAA was decent, only having real issues with transparencies. This looks like it doesn't have AA at all.
Dunno, I just don't see any saw tooth edges. We need some screens!

Played a match and frame rate was perfect, but the game is overall slower not really a bad thing but it takes a bit to get used too.

compared to launch? Just little gameplay tweaks (# of kills in TDM, plunder score goes to everyone). Now however, it is totally different (mostly for the worse - see update 1.05).

A bit, cover mechanics were smoothed out a bit that I remember. Headshots made less prominent, too.

Dont remember but what i do remember is that i had lots of fun playing that beta. U3 beta i'm having little to no fun.

I just tested out the game in 3D but it runs like shit, it feels like 5 fps and then it stops after 5 seconds and kicks me out of the game afterwards.

Split-screen is the same way.>_<

Not much till update 1.05. Man that was a sad day. Lower health, crappy spawns, one shot melee combo with the pistol, and a one hit kill sniper rifle. The blast radius of the grenades were changed, and the BBQs were different somehow as well.

We have been Guerrilla'd, my friends. Only that instead of making it fast-paced ND decided to go into the other direction. :lol

They made it worse nerfing health, grenades, fucking up spawns, but performance-wise it always ran fine on beta and retail

Fucking hell this does not sound good. I mean it is only a beta but all the complaints are really troubling. Guess I'll see later.

The difference is UC2 beta felt more like a demo, bar a few balancing issues. At this point UC3 feels more like a proper beta.

as long as developers stick to p2p instead of dedicated servers we're bound to suffer from these issues in some degree, of course ND will immensely polish the game for retail but p2p will always ruin the game (lag!), why Uncharted/Killzone stick to p2p netcode when Warhawk and Resistance 2 featured dedicated servers some years ago boggles my mind.

whoever took the lead multiplayer design role @ Naughty Dog from Uncharted 2 1.04 (delivering the aberration called 1.05) is doing things just wrong, really, what the fuck? killstreaks do work in the beta but basic stuff like displaying a message every time you get an invite is absent ????

My biggest tip to anyone from Naughty Dog who might read this:

PUT IN DEDICATED SERVERS!

This game will go down as a rental for me for the single player, because my entire day of this beta has done nothing but leave a taste of dog shit in my mouth. Plenty of time left before November to put dedicated servers in or delay the game if you need to. It's the year 2011, and this peer to peer host shit needs to die off. Damn near every other shooter exclusive on PS3 has dedicated servers, so I don't see how Naughty Dog thinks with their second multiplayer outing they can just ignore this.

Still excited for single player, and I'll put in more time to the beta when it's not locking up my PS3, and then I'll make a final decision on purchase or not for later this year.

I'm done. I'll try it later. I can't stand the unplayable frame rate, constant freezes and disconnects.

I wish I can rewind time and play it when we got it from the HK PS Store.

Also, the invite system is complete shit. You don't get an in-game notification or a PSN message so you don't even know who the hell has invited you.

I will come back and post pros and cons in a much detailed post.

Can I get into the beta too?... :(

Already posted in the last page, but everybody ignored me. Is there still any account I could log-in into to download it?

Fuck this. This game is unplayable with the constant freezes. UC3 is nice but not nice enough to risk bricking my PS3.

The good:
- Gameplay is fun as hell. Levels seem to be very well designed and there seems to be even more emphasis on fluid traversal, especially on airport map there is tons of different ways to get places.
- Especially liked that one player periodically got tagget as a 'vip' target during the match... reminded me of killzones dynamic objectives.
- Kickbacks? seem like potentially fun, but having rocket laucher as a basic kickback seems disaster. Not fun to be killed by it at all.
- Buddy spawn system is neat.
- Random medal drops and treasure chests are cool for casual playing.

The bad:
- Several hard locks on my slim model ps3.
- UI is slick, but a bit ugly
- Graphics are 'meh' compared to UC2. Can't comment technically, but to my eyes it looks a bit rough. Locations are drab and boring, so that might contribute to that. IMO every level in UC2 looks better than these maps.

Hopefully the next Uncharted is developed for next system, since there doesn't seem to be that much juice to be squeezed from the ps trey.

None of that stuff came until 6+ months after retail release. Going from Beta U2 to launch they made lots of minor adjustments for the better, but performance-wise there wasn't much of a difference.

Just download it with your free PS Plus trial?

anyone else having a problem with quitting the game through XMB and the ps3 resetting itself?

that's actually one of the best outcomes which can happen to you when playing the beta

FRAMERAAAAAAAAAATE!!

Shit is like 10 FPS. I assume this is a huge issue with other people?

this morning was 30 fps locked, maybe 25 fps with 3 nades and stuff happening all around, but since early this afternoon the game goes randomly from 30 to 3 fps.

I played maybe... 4 games total?

I crashed... around 7 times total. Both times after a complete game, sometimes in the middle of a game or elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm not leaving any impression until this shit gets better.

Well I've played a few games. Fun, but not quite as fun as Uncharted 2 (in my opinion). It feels rather similar to Uncharted 2, but like someone has throw syrup all over the map. Sluggish, heavy, etc.

Still good fun mind you.

Resources/Money.

It would be nice to see those lines of PS3 as servers like warhawk did ;P

So, I shot a few enemies with the grenade launcher in Co-Op. Managed to blow up a car along with them. My Co-op partners let out a string of expletives, claiming I had doomed us all. Their swears began to stutter with the frame rate, then my system froze.

So... word of warning. Car fires = system death. And apparently, you're just supposed to know that.

I agree with all of your points. The UI in this game is so damn ugly and it takes way too many bullets to kill people.

I couldn't give a fuck about graphics in multiplayer beyond frame rate. Really feeling like they've messed up the gunplay at the moment though

It was pretty smoothed when I just tried it, but it froze up on my first and only game. :/
I will boot up the system again in a bit, hopefully this is not a frequent occurrence.

Ok. I just played my first match for about 30 seconds. The framerate was like 5 FPS and then it froze after 30 seconds and I had to restart my PS3.

Fuck this. I'm not trying again until they sort their shit out.
