Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

Whoever said smoke bomb is the cheapest kickback is right. Especially now that I know medals accumulate no matter if you have kickback or not, it's possible to be invincible as long as you can press UP real quickly in a heated moment.

Exactly. Makes streak medals really easy.

It still is two hits from my experience.
No way for me. I found this out after a few punching matches with random guys. We'd hit each other three times and whoever got that fourth hit.. safe to say I don't melee barring already damaged enemy or from behind anymore.

OK, just played a couple matches for real. I'm seriously impressed by the netcode, and how well melee and stuff like that works compared to other console multiplayer games. Having said that though, goddamn is this game bland. It just seems like a bad version of MGO to me at this point. FLAMESUIT, ACTIVATE!

I see no overall stats screen. Let's keep it that way.
THIS. NeoGAF collectively.

FWIW, I deleted my HK download and installed the US download and all my stats just carried over. I don't think it really matters which client you are using, at the end of the day everything is saved server side.
Thanks.

Just got hit with that FPS bug or whatever, holy crap that was horrible. It was about 5fps max.
Yea, that was the worst framerate I've ever had during a MP match and I never want it to happen again. It was so bad that I couldn't even shoot anymore and my crosshair was all over the place because it was so far behind where I wanted it to go. Of course, that ended up making us lose since the other team controlled the turret where aiming wasn't really necessary...lmao

Framerate bug in the menu, game drops to 5fps during the match, I quit to try and back out to the menu to start over only to have my PS3 freeze forcing a hard reset.

Damn, this beta is murdering the Cell.

Very early impression; not digging it too much. Only played one round on Chateau, but I'll keep playing.

Yeah, it's just kind of, bleh. I'll keep playing though, see if it grows on me.

I would really like to know the mindset behind this opening segment of airstrip. It not only HEAVILY favors the heroes, it's just stupid to constantly replay it. Like, what are the villains trying to do? They all just wait in the jeep or try and jump on the plane and get slaughtered. It's really dumb.

When I first played this today the framerate was terrible and I was a bit worried. Since then though the framerate as been rock solid. Phew.

I'm just wondering what version(it says 1.0....something...) of the real game it is.
The menu is a bit "beta-ish" and the gameplay misses that last touch.
I liked my first match though :P

I just had a glitch where we went back onto the plane section of the airstrip level and stayed there. It was awesome. But then it glitched again and there was no respawning.

Melee kills have ALWAYS been 2 hit kills for me/against me so far. (20+ matches)
I've had one or two instances where it didn't register during an enemy roll, but that's about it.

Curse bashers really need to look at it twice before bashing it, it seems to only trigger when one team is WAY WAY ahead of the other, and even then it's easy to just group up and sit it out.
Again, you can still tell who is an enemy and who is not by looking at the name above their head when you aim at them.
If you don't know what position your teammates have then that's your problem not the game modes'.

It wouldn't hurt if it was a mutator though that you could toggle for those who hate it.

Also : fuck p2p.
It's morning here so I end up in games with american hosts and players, and it's day and night difference vs the european/same country players.
The lag ruins it when you have the wrong host.
Game turns into a clusterfuck of seemingly worthless hit detection and a large delay on kills.

If ND went with dedis people would be enjoying it a lot more consistently.

It doesn't favor either side, it's not king of the hill, you don't need to get on the plane, whoever has most kills wins the plane phase.
Hero team is super vulnerable to grenades too.
Unless you all try to go in the cargo door it shouldn't be hard to get on the plane through the side doors.

~7 kills seems to be the threshold for power plays, and that's not what I'd consider to be a commanding lead.

Although I think you have a fair point with your latter sediments, I don't understand the former.

I've played the segment thrice and all times I was the villain. Kicked the shit out of the heroes in the plane twice, one time not so much. :P

It seemed pretty balanced to me, you just can't go barging in the main door until your teammates (or you) start laying fire via the sides.

Hm, it has only triggered 3-4 times for me in about 20+ games.
The 'kill the target' mode triggers all the time when the difference is only 5+ kills (didn't check the exact number).

I've never been the villain on it, but I've completely dominated everyone in the jeep each time. I dunno. :P

I just got UNKNOWN STRING!! as reward for beating co-op. That and a disconnection and a subsequent hardware crash. :P

There's a bug in co-op where enemies won't show up sometimes during siege mode.

Played some co-op in both maps, it was fun, and I think coop maps are better laid out than what I remember from UC2. No lag, no problems, framerate was rock solid. Looking at the menu screen got me worried what the game was going to look like, but it looks very nice and again better than UC2. Only complaint is the meshed wire on the airstrip level, and the aliasing on the burning jeep in the chateau, which both looked bad. Menu screen looks terrible though, no AA, no AF, bad framerate (probably because it plays videos at the same time), really bad motion blur on characters.

Kitton and I were slaying muthas left and right tonight in 2v2v2. I LOVE the new health, its almost perfection. The G-mal is a little overpowered compared to the ak. I rape things WAY too easily with it. Split screen is good. I tried that with my bro for a match. It froze, but that happens in a beta.

Some things that need changed:
-Give the pistol an extremely small boost in power
-Fix the framerate bug
-fix the teamkill kick bug
-change it up to where sometimes the villains are on the plane.
-hardcore plunder, please make it
- make the smoke bomb kickback cost quite a bit more. I believe it costs 7? up that to about 15-20
-Try to improve the netcode a little
-Fix the IQ in some areas. AA needs a boost
-Power plays need to go back to the drawing board.

loving the gunplay here, the x thingy makes it easier to see if you have hit the enemy, buddy system is awesome, high 5ing on every kill like a boss

Just tried to play this with friends...Took a little bit to get into a game and when we did terrible god awful 2 fps and the graphics didnt look that great...but its just a beta. Ill play again in like, 5 days, when i want to care again.

Super rare artifact? or Compile error, you decide!

More on the power plays:
I'm generally the first to hate on anything designed to level out the playing field (I was primed to trash this stuff so hard when I read about it), but it really is more like dynamic objective modes (played s8? you'll get it, and you'll know its awesome).
It's very satisfying for the winning team (the pov of which you should despise it) to work together and defend their mark and the land he walks on.

Without them the deathmatch is a lot more shallow teamplay wise, you just try to keep the best piece of turf on the map defended (the front yard machine gun + tower that flanks it +highground on the estate map), while this forces you to relocate your entire defence.

I constantly see decent teams actively cover both flanks of the center players , which is something I thought I'd never see in a console shooter (MGO had it, but looks how little love that gem got :\ )
No lone wolf bullshit here unless it's for a quick flank.

They're using the AK
And probably have a poor host/connection.
Ak is still decent at mid/short range and has a large mag, the gal is probably just a tiny bit too good in comparison (not sure how you can change it since it's already burst fire with a decent delay between bursts)

Session Manager, I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want, but I have a unique set of skills; skills that make me a nightmare for those like you.

I will look for you.

I will find you.

And I will kill you.

Honestly the buddy system in this game really helps with the idea of staying with your team. "I can't go off without my buddy... how else will we high five!?"

One of the best moments I had so far was sneaking onto the plane from one end while another member of my team got on the plane from the other end. We completely wiped out all the opposing team, met in the middle, fist bumped, and became buddies for the rest of the match.

I don't even know if I should bother posting any impressions. There's just piles and piles of stupid shit here that ND will end up listening to anyway. >=(

yup, makes a big difference in powerplays , makes your team stick together if you are being powerplayed, so awesome

Yes it does.
As does the powerplay system (if people don't watch flanks and lone wolf and get marked your team is fucked unless you can get to them in time, and you probably die trying), or if you're all over the map and get cursed and can't group up in one part of the map quickly when it happens, you're just going to be sitting ducks/shooting at eachother.

The game design slaps you on the wrist for doing it wrong instead of rewarding you with a pat on the back (here you get a lot of satisfaction instead for a successful scramble/regroup/teamplay and no pat) when you do it right, and it causes people to jump to conclusions.
