Its a spectacle game, like God of War. I have always found Uncharted to be a bit lacklustre in the shooting and platforming departments, the movement always seems janky to me and it was basically the same in this gameplay trailer, Drake still has this weird movement system where its a fight between trying to keep the animation system intact and allowing you ease lf movement. Its bugged me since the first game, theres no real flow to the animation system, its just kind of janky and counter intuitive to the gameplay as you have to fight the animation system.
Having said that, the games have always received high praise and sell by the truck load so from a developers perspective, why change the formula.
There are a lot of intricate details going on in the animation so it seems kind of unavoidable, but its one of the things the series is known for. That's why I always put it under the spectacle banner, its basically Indiana Jones style action and thrills for the video game medium. A grand action adventure that you watch in awe as much as, maybe even more so than play. Hence the car sections etc. its all about tension, excitement and experience.
In does what it does extremely well with superb set pieces and holy shit moments but its always been bit of a broken game for me and its never really been revolutionary as far as gameplay is concerned. But you can't deny it has 'blockbuster' written all over it just seeing it. Its the Michael Bay of video games; looks amazing, sounds amazing and is one hell of a ride but at its core its fundamentally a bit broken.
