Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

The surprised expression on Drake in that one screen and crumpling "I'm about to cry" face on Elena are both astounding.

These aren't hand-keyed like TLOU are they?

The model looks great because they have gone to great lengths to make her have human-looking skin with creases and imperfections.

That looks a million times better than the Square Enix porcelain dolls.

Hell, she looks more human than most celebrities on the cover of fashion magazines.....

Where is that from?

The only thing that stood out to me as something that will get fixed in the fiture is taht water didnt reacted as is suposed to when the jeep passed through it, its supose to do this:

But it didn't, Im sure it will get fixed and knowing Naughty Dog they will.

Im still trying to pick up my jaw of teh floor though, everything looks so pretty and smooth, so detailed, so beautiful.

Day one!

I hope we get to see that section replayed. I saw a lot of branching paths during the chase scene and it would be interesting to see how the game adapts to your decisions.

Also the sand leaking out the deflating sandbags god damn.

Totally agree, this was the one detail that underwhelmed me in the whole amazeballs. When I saw the car heading for the water I was prepared to be blown away and well, I wasn't.

Elena Best Girl.

Hope to see more of her this time around.

So is this the first game to reference Drake having a brother? cause I let out a little holy shit when i heard that guy call him little brother.

The amount of effort to make a moment of spectacle in a AAA game is insane. You can see why everyone's going open world.

It boggles my mind to think of all of those models, assets, people, buildings, voices etc. being zoomed past in that Jeep.

I might be in the minority but I wouldn't mind a few missions as Elena. If Drake is settled down with her at the beginning of U4 then I'm sure she's more reluctant than Drake to go follow Sam off in to the jungle.

Maybe she joins the adventure a little later on, solo, before meeting up with them and we get a couple chapters from her POV.

Has ND cone out and said that the entire driving section is optional and can be accomplished by foot?
i want this to happen. If not then theres still a plenty of time to do it..

ND please.

And those "pardon, me" and "sorry!" moments just make it so immersive. Yeah, a lot of it is scripted, but it produces a far better feel of interaction with the world than an open-world game does.

I had the same reaction. I was blown away when the vehicle section started, and right before they hit the puddle of water, I was actually getting excited to see a huge splash, and got a little ripple. Still amazing demo and Im not nitpicking. Just something that stood out.

Ok I am seriously loving the destructibility of the environments! This game is going to be so damn fun to play. You guys think the destructibility will make its way into the multiplayer?

It stood out for me too.

It's strange. Even if there wouldn't be that large of a splash it's probably worth just doing, because I'm sure that's everyone's expectation when a vehicle enters water during a chase.

Her ears even have a little "earring hole." Dat detail.

Elena or Sully solo missions would be great.

I couldn't believe what I saw. For me, this is easily the greatest technical achievement on the PS4 so far. I just can't believe we're getting these level of visuals with how open the game is. On top of that the AI, animation, physics, and particle effects look top class too.

The only things I thought were missing were some effects while driving the jeep, and I was also hoping to see a bit more realistic enemy reactions to gun shots.

I'm absolutely stoked.

I just saw their interview after the show. Hollyshit, they really are teasing a lot about the story. Gonna be so good. Something epic is coming guys.

Holy shit... I can't wait to see her in motion. Always loved the character too. She could've easily be the damsel in distress, but she has a real spirit. And she's kind to boot... One of my fav characters in videogame history

She looks immensely better than she did in UC3, and I'm not talking about the graphics quality, just the design.

Do you have a link to the interview? I can't find it for the life of me.

Style > substance.

Indiana Jones is great, its a fun hang on to the edge of your seat entertainment ride, but its hardly the be all and end all of cinema greatness; thats hiw I feel about Uncharted as I said, looks and sounds amazing and the gameplay has a wealth of spectacle and awe about it but that is ultimately keeping the series from being average. If you took out the awesome set pieces, visuals and general 'grand adventure' presentation and asked the game to stand up on its shooting and platform mechanics alone, it would struggle to even hit mediocre as far as outright gameplay is concerned.

It's so fucking dumb that people come into Uncharted threads and still make this tired old argument.

Arguably the most popular thing about Uncharted 3 for a whole lot of fans was the multiplayer. Over 9.25 Billion games played. And that is all based on the excellent shooting, cover, and traversal mechanics. Hell, unlike a lot of games, Uncharted's multi didn't rely on a bunch of gimmick weapons either. IIRC, the most popular weapon by far was the straight-up Para 9 pistol, followed by the sniper.

Ok, I'm going to rephrase what you just said.

"If you take out all the amazing bits from something, you get something that's not amazing".

What an amazing analysis. Shooting has been fine since UC2, and the shooting looks fucking amazing in UC4 thanks to The Last of Us's combat and stealth being integrated into it.

It is clear from the demo that ND focused on something that every other dev didn't have as a priority -- destructible environment set pieces with good physics applied to them. It makes the gameplay much more dynamic.

However, to say that all other developers pale in comparison to ND just because they decided to focus on this is very unfair. While this graphics engine has a different priority now (physics and destruction), doesn't mean it trumps other engines that focus on other things that are taxing the hardware like shadows, dynamic TOD, realtime GI, a more accurate AO, screen space reflections, tons of foliage, volumetric lighting (i.e. Fallout 4) and smoke (i.e. Batman), etc..

No one game does everything the best because the hardware power just isn't there.
