Uncharted 4 to run 30FPS confirmed.

Jeez guys. Was just asking a question. No need to rip me a new one. Okay, I understand everything now. And no I wasn't trolling.

Question though, there's three Uncharted 4 threads on the front page, why would you go back to a thread that no one has posted in, in a year? Did that really seem like a good idea?

Should we start banning people with no technical knowledge who serve only to incite, with words like, 'downgrade', 'lazy', and the ever so obtuse... 'generic'?

Anyone who gets "incited" by the suggestion that a video game had some lighting or textures change between a reveal and release has far bigger issues in life than a potential ban.

Old news, and after seeing the footage, it's back to that Naughty Dog effect where they manage to make 30fps look higher than 30fps because it's so fluid.

While this seems to be a "the feel of 60fps" thing to mock and I know that 30fps just can't compare to 60, I actually agree that Uncharted 2 was incredibly smooth and probably one of the games that do 30fps best. I guess it was a mix of the rock-solid rate and perfect motion blur.

Unfortunately this wasn't true for TLoU. That had noticeable frame drops and definitely felt like 30fps.

Sorry for the bump, I didn't know where else to ask this.

Is the game still running 30fps? Have there been any development changes? Also, is it true that there has been a downgrade? Here's a pic I found on Reddit. Just please ignore the fanboy parts of the image, I'm only asking for comparison sake.

This again? Heh Not sure why people thought the game would look like that.the ps4 is not the beast you think it is.

Weird, early impressions guys are blown away by the visuals, lots of them think it's the best looking game they've seen, nice accomplishment for the weak PS4...

Besides, the reveal was a real time cut scene, people tend to forget it, of course gameplay won't look as good as a cutscene but did you look at U4's cut scenes? at their best they do look as good, or at least very close to it, so again, PS4 does run it.

It'll at least get 1080/60 for MP

Campaign is dependent on the CPU. GPU is enough of an upgrade that it could be 60fps and have visual upgrades on top of that but the CPU is a much smaller bump.

Would you have objected if the MP was 1080p 30fps as well as the campaign

No but I think 60fps for MP is always a good choice. I've always been fine with a consistent 30 though. I was just commenting on the potential of Neo upgrades anyway, not the current PS4.

Holy shit, the Uncharted 4 defense force is going to massive, isn't it? The guy's post wasn't even inflammatory. He was asking if there was a downgrade. Jeez.

It's got nothing to do with Uncharted 4, which I'm sure you very well know. People are sick of the "downgrade!!!" squawking that happens every time a light fixture gets moved in a game. Happens for every game and it is the most tedious shit ever.

I don't think anyone expected the game to look like the reveal trailer.
You're wrong. That is exactly what they were pushing with that trailer. I don't consider most "downgrades" to be... well, downgrades. People need to learn that there's a pool of water developers have to work with, early on there may be more water separated into the graphics end of the pool, but then more water needs to be spread out for more gameplay functions, smarter AI, etc.

But regardless of that, those were the visuals Sony/ND were pushing on us, slapping "Captured on a PS4" text at the intro, including 60fps. But the game developed longer, and to make more things in the game itself possible framerate and a degree of graphical fidelity had to be sacrified. That's game development. So while I don't get upset with it others do when they see a visual and are told is "real" only for a later time they find out it was a lie.

It's nothing to be too upset about, but don't be saying "No one believed the game looked like that." when that was the entire point of that trailer.

He was curious about performance, as far as I'm aware there isn't any UC4 threads right now focused on that. I think it's perfectly reasonable that he searched GAF and chose to ask in a thread geared towards the games performance.

Bingo.

Every pre-launch/launch thread degrades into lengthy "downgrade" wars tangents.

Everytime those leading the charge accuse the "defenders" of the game/devs of being the worst shills/fanboys for x/y/z ever for not seeing lighting/TOD changes, or artistic choices as downgrades.

Yet, there are so few games that are really great fodder for downgrade controversy, anymore.

That's the frustrating part. It's hard not to see it as trolling when it comes up every time and rarely amounts to anything.

All that said, if this game has been downgraded, that's fine by me, because it looks incredible....like absolutely cutting edge. Not sure how much more a person can expect.

TLoU drops under 20 in some sections. The framerate is in the same ballpark as GTA V. When a game has a smooth 30 fps that usually means that if unlocked it would it 45-60 in parts that don't have much going on. Games like TLoU and GTA V can only reach 30 fps when you are in a small room standing unarmed in a corner looking at the floor.

Don't some big games do legit get downgraded though? Witcher 3 is one that I remember. I don't know if it was ever confirmed but the final game never looked close to what the old trailers showed. End product still looked good though
