Uncharted 4's Patch 1.08 lets you remove or tone down MOTION BLUR

Some more comparisons. Took some more screens and inspected them more closely and found that 4 is where the samples are the closest while still having a noticeable blur. It really improved the visuals for me since I found the break up very distracting. Comparisons aren't perfect unfortunately since it's tough to time it when spinning the camera but I think they get the point across.

Thanks for this comparison, man. I think I'll set the motion blur intensity to 4 as well, then. The only major visual flaws to me were the shadow quality and post processing (DoF and motion blur) quality. If ND just improve on those two in their next game, it will already be a decent step up IMO.

Definitely agree. I would love if those areas got focused on in any Neo updates (as well as 60fps if CPU permits). I think they just need to be higher res with a lot more samples and it'll look substantially better without needing to replace the techniques.

So, with motion blur intensity set to 4, does the image quality look sharper? Are there still some dithering artifacts on moving objects and characters, especially Nate? I found that really detrimental to the image quality.

Yep, motion blur can't be that taxing on the hardware that ND had to compromise on it so much. I get reduced shadow res, but motion blur shouldn't be anywhere near that demanding. I think ND simply didn't put much work into it, hopefully they will in the next game.

Still there but less noticeable.

That's what I figured too. Don't suppose you could turn off motion blur to see if the artifacts persist?

I didn't find the artifacts too noticeable outside of certain situations and honestly can't remember the locations where I saw it the most so I wouldn't be able to check easily.

I recall seeing the artifacts most evidently in the beginning of Chapter 6, where Nate and Sam are making their way into the auction house. It was also quite noticeable in the Scotland levels.

Now if only they provided the option to disable Depth of Field and Film Grain I'd die a happy man.
This isn't The Order where post processing is used excessively. Film grain isn't even noticeable at all in this game.

Terrible idea because it makes motion more jerky. The motion blur is there for a reason. At least they could have spent time upping the quality sigh.

The grain is pretty noticeable in Scotland, but I actually like the look of grain :)
Hmm, really? Didn't notice it much. However, Scotland does have a washed out look to it because of all the light shafts and fog. I'm not a particularly big fan of it as I prefer a saturated color palette, but it does fit the location.

Its mostly present at the beginning of Scotland. With the combination of an overcast sky and a bright sun I'd imagine without the grain, there would be a lot of banding.

How can an option be a terrible idea? The more options on consoles the better, it lets people customize the experience as they prefer, beat the game once and had to force myself on some ocasions becuase the MB was horrible IMO, now i can replay the game and enjoy it much more

The motion blur is what saves it from stuttering like other 30fps games, why would you like to remove that, that's what makes it so polished.

It's still there but not as noticeable in motion as it was before.

I didn't know that.So only remove or tone down? No improvements? What is the best setting 4 or 10?

Edit: Sorry I thought this was from the last update that supported PS4 PRO. I didn't intend to bump the thread.

Goddamn it, man, you gave me hope that ND had improved the motion blur quality on OG PS4 and Pro via a new patch much like how Insomniac did with Ratchet & Clank. :P

I am really sorry, I saw Roboplato single post showing Motion Blur comparison in Digital Foundry PS4 PRO thread and I thought it was added in the last update. I had hope too they improved the Motion Blur.
