Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Exclusive "Jet Ski (through the) Ruins" Gameplay

There is submerged stuff in the water. And why wouldn't pirates try to use exploding barrels to deter you? I suppose they could also use tripwires across the canal too, but would you really prefer the stop-and-cut-with-scissors jetski gameplay instead?

If the pirates were really smart, they would just shoot the barrels as you pass them by.

I've seen this beofre in other games where explosions are way too tinny for what you destroy or ripples and splashes are next to nothing when big ass things goes into water.

Too much critisicism

Certainly too much criticism about the graphics.
There's something about the bullet absorbing that's really jarring to me though, more than other games for some reason. Maybe it's the clothes he wears.

If the pirates were really smart, they'd drain the canal altogether. Try your fancy jetski antics now, Mr. Everyman Hero.

I watched this one and not the first hour one because.. the first hour one obviously has spoilers :-P This one doesn't, really.

I didn't watch the first hour video, neither interested to see it. I think that jetski video is old. Like they said in a interview some time ago, all those effects are added until the very end of the process.

I'm 100% confident the game is already a stunning masterpiece.

Graphics are not the problems here.

Wow, so much whining in the thread, about graphics of all things! I'm on total video blackout for this game so I'm not watching the video. I would be more concerned about the gameplay but ND have already said there are two jet-ski levels; the first is a more sedate pace than the second as it involves stopping and shooting so I'd guess that this is the first one.

How exactly is this surprising though...vehicular sections were the weakest parts of the jak games....people here need to focus in on any little flaw in a game and shove a battering ram through it...this is one section of a game...every game I have ever played has weak sections...every single game ever...

I havent watched it though, since Im not going to spoil the game

I would not know since I've nerver played any of the Jak games. If it'S not a long section it won't really be a big problem.

I hate how the segment is designed.

No, not because of the explosive barrels (although, I will agree they are a lazy design decision) but because of the conspicuous pause in the action from driving the jet ski and shooting at the hispanic terrorists. Couldn't they have more seamlessly integrated the shooting into the jet-ski bits?

Who knows, maybe this design choice will feel more natural when (and if) I get my hands on the final product.

Yeah I bet the first time around there was no barrel but then they said the player went through the area too fast and kept getting shot, so they decided to add explosive barrels to slow him down and make him shoot stuff. Looks like a poor gameplay sequence, would be more fun to just speed through it.

They're pirates, not terrorists.

Ok, that jeep chase segment is one of the most rediculously awesome segments like that I've ever seen in a game... How it looks like some of the trees are getting toppled over by the debris of the vehicles... The lighting... THOSE explosions are just flat out SICK...

If you own a PS3, and don't buy this game, you in fact belong to Al Qaeda...

That video is lame, they give you a Jet Ski, and instead of going balls deep shooting enemies. You have to stop every 10 yards, shoot some barrels, move 10 yards shoot some barrels, maybe an enemey...rinse and repeat.

The section should either be on rails while you shoot, or the player should be trying to fly through stuff at a rapid rate if driving the jet ski. One or the other, not a combination where you are both Drake and Elana.

This is probably an older build, but but the Jeep scene looks like more fun. They do need to get a better sound for the engine in the jeep, it sounds like a golf cart when accelerating. I do like the way she keeps saying shit and dammit though.

and lol at "Hispanic Terrorists".

Exploding barrels are actually quite appropiate an area denial weapon. Pirates wouldn't have easy access to military type trip mines but could easily make floating IEDs out of oil barrels. all you would need is some desiel fuel, a small weight welded to the side of the barrel, an incendiary primer and an accelerometer. Just screw the primer charge into the bung when you want to use them. I would also reccommend a delay before arm on the primer charge.

Is no-one else a little freaked out by this post.

So now Naughty Dog's ripping off the jet ski escape from Resident Evil 4? What game will they canibalize next? They've squeezed Gears of War and Resident Evil 4 dry. Maybe the ability to pull a cardboard box out of your pocket and hide under it?

Or jetski's are very fitting for the location... As far as the rest goes, you tell me: You're on a boat at one part, you're in a jungle in the next, you're in spanish ruins, you have timed melee attacks, there's an AK-47 and M4 in the game, there's an old man and chick as co-stars, you're also on a jeep running from pirates, there's pirates in the game, the main character is male, he has black hair, there's a book in the game, there's puzzles, there's jumping from ledge to ledge... This game ripped off so much shit yo!

Next they'll make the enemies, instead of AIs in Uncharted that can flush you out with grenades, use cover, outflank the player like they can now, into super dumb zombie fucktards, JUST TO RIP OFF RESIDENT EVIL 4.

So go from Gears to RE 4 with the enemy AI?

Pair the main character up with a girl like in RE 4? Check. Set the game in a Spanish castle? No-no! Spanish ruins! Check. Use RE 4's camera? Check. Use Gear's cover system? Check. Use Gear's grenade system? Check. Use RE 4's jet ski escape. Check.

I'm telling you, it just needs to big cardboard box and Frankenstein's monster is all ready to go. Maybe a diabolical midget.

Unfortunately most games these days borrow something or another from past games. Instead of being an immature whiney little fanboy, why not just appreciate the fact that developers learn from the best, work on it, borrow ideas and make them better and add a touch of their own style in it.

You sound utterly pathetic.
