Using the same pan to cook multiple times?

I'm getting started in cooking and the problem is that I only have two pans to cook with. For people who cook often (like every day), do you reuse a pan after cooking with it once? It should be ok since you're killing the bacteria when you cook right?

Otherwise what do you do? Do you run the dishwasher after every time you cook?

I have a cast iron pan that hasn't been washed (other than being wiped out) in over 15 years. I use it 3-4 times a week. Soap will never touch its slick glorious surface.

it takes like 2min to wash and dry, person

you only have two pans

*if cast iron do not wash let it fester in its own filth after just wiping out its better that way

I'm totally lazy and usually use the same pan two days in a row for my eggs in the morning. I'm probably going to die from it at some point.

its ok, i often use my wok for different things I'm cooking, just plan ahead make the dish that will be the messiest last because you don't want to have to wash after that dish first.

Give an actual example of what you're talking about.

And you realize that there are ways to clean out the pan that don't involve running your dishwasher, right?

Dude what the fuck. Someone from the internet has to tell you that you can just use a sponge with soapy water to clean it off?

I'm assuming he means to do a recipe that requires multiple cooking of items at the same time. Washing the pan would cool it and slow the cooking time, resulting on some items on the plate being too cold.

Get a pair of tongs, crumple a paper towel and grab it with the tongs, then pass the paper on the pan in a circular motion.

I know lol.

OP. I usually cook meat first since it talks longer and the rendered fat is good cooking fat for a quick veggie sauté. Additionally learn more one skillets meals.

Is this thread a joke??? You have never heard of sponge and soap???

No I mean say, breakfast and then dinner. Or dinner and then breakfast the next day. Or two dinners in a rwo

I don't get the people saying not to wash cast iron pans, so it just gets more and more infested with germs?

I don't have a sponge and dishwashing soap...

The ''germs'' don't survive the high heat. You still clean it just not with soap. I use kosher salt.

Buy some soap, don't need a sponge.

And Cast Iron is not meant to be 'cleaned' in the traditional way, it would ruin the seasoning.

(I'd kill a man for putting soap on my Cast Iron!)

If only there were stores in which someone could purchase these items.....

Just wash it out by hand.

No, you scrub them out with a brush or the like and hot water, you just don't use soap because you want the oils to build up in them. It's perfectly hygienic.

Edit:

Oh shit. Well then you better run the dishwasher after every time you use a pan.

Wash it directly after it cools off (15 minutes) and you probably won't have to scrub it at all unless you burned something.

In fact, if you have Stainless Steel, then you don't need soap either. Just pour some water into the pan after using and use a rag to wipe clean/dry.

Oh... then just buy "scotch bright" green sponge and soap, then clean it...

You don't wash cast iron with soap because it gets rusty. You are supposed to boil vinegar in it to kill germs.

you guys are using soap to ruin your pans. just burn it thru and wipe it down with a cloth and oil.

Not stainless steel or aluminum. You can use soap fine.

Buy soap and a sponge and wash your pan between meals. Don't leave it dirty over night.

Buy a sponge and soap.

If you're really lazy/cheapo, just do a quick rinse with water and wipe with a damp paper towel.

Both are typical non-stick pans

Wash that shit out after it cools from whatever you cooked. Use a sponge or a light-ish scrubber (nothing made of steel for a grill) and some dish soap (Ivory, Dawn, whatever). It takes under 30 seconds, and it's all ready for your next cooking extravaganza.

EDIT: Cast iron is different, and there are special care instructions for it. Mainly, you don't use soap on a cast iron pan. You ABSOLUTELY DO use soap on a non-stick pan.

Yeah it's fine. I usually just scrub it out real quick though if the previous food doesn't go with the food I'm cooking now.

Soap and sponge will set you back like $7 max. I honestly don't know how you've never washed a dish by hand and instead, apparently, let them pile up until you can run a cycle in a dishwasher. It's probably your parents fault. Be better than them.
