5v5 has always been the clan match structure. For public games it might seem odd, but you'll get used to it
I've played 4v4 scrims, 5v5 scrims, 16v16 pubstar servers, 64 player modded servers, gun game servers, deathmatch servers, lego servers....it's ALL fun. I can hop back and forth from anyone of them.

Excited but I'm not sure how this 5v5 thing is going to work out.

I think the 5v5 is just for Competitive mode. 5v5 has been the standard for competitive matches for as long as I can remember. The game plays very well in 5v5 when everyone is playing together. You need to implement strategies and not just run in on your own.

I am assuming Casual mode will allow more players and could be played like normal CS servers.

Personally I think Valve may be thinking about Half Life 3 like 3D Realms thought of Duke Nukem Forever. They're under a lot of pressure to deliver a game that is incredibly innovative with the absolute best graphics and better gameplay than any other game out there. How do you top something like Half Life 2?

Personally I would like a new engine for HL3. Something that really raises the bar again. If that means waiting a while longer I am fine with it.

"good enough" for console only players doesn't cut it when you're a multiplatform gamer who's looking for the best experience. The console versions aren't going to be all that great for CS: GO due to the awful controls and most likely lack of support from Valve. Halo works because of sticky aim and Call of Duty works because of sticky aim. Counter-Strike doesn't work like that.

The controls are going to be mediocre at best, whether they tone down the auto/sticky aim or increase it. It's going to be gimped and half assed, which is why if anyone is serious about playing this game they're getting it on PC.
If they're a console only player, then they'll never play the PC version so why would they know the difference? Valve games control just fine with a controller and they'll be perfectly fine against other controller players.

I'm on board with this. Will definitely be getting it on PSN. I tried to play CS on PC a couple of times but I'm terrible at mouse and keyboard. I also had a copy of CS for the original X-Box but only played against bots (I didn't have internet at the time). I still had fun with the game.

Should be a fun time playing against real opponents this time. :)

A lot of people said the same thing about HL1. How can you top HL1? Some felt HL2 was better (I'm one of them) others felt it never surpassed HL1.
The same thing will happen with HL3.
Some will like it more than 1&2, some will think 2 is better, and the rest will think 1 is still the best.

Valve can't worry about that. I mean if they've been working on it since EP2, they've got no one to blame but themselves for the hype. Releasing NOTHING on the game for years and years, with other projects being pushed through the pipeline in the meantime.

Even though they think the Episodic approach failed, I think they should have stuck with it and made EP3 to at least finish out the story arc.
But then again they probably have some really great plans in mind and HL3/EP3 will be amazing. Marc Laidlaw is an awesome writer, and I honestly have a lot of faith in Valve.

Anywho, BACK TO CSS- uhh CS:GO!

It wasn't a troll I just moved on [past CS]. If CS is still so big for you then fine, have it. I'd rather Valve spend this time on HL3 that's all :|

That's like saying you moved on from Super Mario to Football Manager Sims. (Except CoD and CS both have at least the FPS thing in common...)

Lol, people use some (fan?) Counter-Strike Online trailer from 2008 as a fake trailer for this on the tube and such. I'm glad I didn't fall for it just because it looks so bad...

Relax I wanted no harm. I see lots of people are pretty big on CS still and enjoy this news (I do not) so I will quietly back off.

Still I wish we got something on HL3 this year :( Valve promised something in Portal 2 and we got nothing.

That's what I'm worried about. The scope of CSGO seems really limited compared to CS/CSS. Custom maps with crazy game types and a million people is part of what makes CS awesome.

Also, for those thinking KB/mouse on PS3 would even the odds during cross platform play, it's not that simple. You would need the option to disable vsync and the game would need to run at 60fps+ on PS3 for there to be a similar level of precision compared to what most PC players have. If you have CSS, lock the framerate to 30 fps via the console (max_fps 30 or fps_max 30 I think) then enable vsync in the options. Even if you leave vsync off the game will still feel sluggish at 30fps.

That's still true even today, the FPS will never be good on consoles that use sticks for aiming and movement.
So wait you mean all those times I was having fun playing a FPS on my controller where not actually real times?

I don't care if its "better" if its still playable and still fun then who the fuck cares!?

it is dolph "the legend" lundgren
I know who he is, I just don't follow his movies, have only seen a few at random on plain public TV and The Expendables. He seems weirder/older than even in that in the gif. Does fit the scene though!

Beyond amazing. Finally a new CS, even if it's not a full sequel I couldn't give two shits.

Will buy on PC and XBLA.

I see what you mean. Halo 2 was one of the best multiplayer shooters ever created and that(on Xbox) required a controller, so subsequently you're agreeing with him that regardless of input method CS:GO will be fucking awesome.

High five dear brother.

Alien Swarm 2, hopefully.
That'd be great. I was excited for Infested then it got turned into a half hearted freebie... It didn't quite grab me the same as the UT2004 mod and it doesn't seem to have gathered much of a community that I hoped could fix it up and offer some meaty campaigns... It deserves a proper chance.

nope

Halo 2 was shit. It just seems better now that the two Halo games after it are even shittier. The first one is the only good one.

Again what some people REALLY need to understand but apparently is such a hard concept to grasp is

Fun=Fun

If you have fun playing the game then it is fine, does not matter if you have fun on KB+M or Controller. I really think these "better" arguments are really damn stupid. Play it the way you want to play, one form is not better than the other and its all preference.

If there's ironsights I'm out.

Don't think there's a chance in hell of that happening though. I'm also curious to actually see if this is a really incremental upgrade rather than the substantial one some people (myself included) are expecting.
