I just did a speed test with my G2 over T-Mobile in LA and my ping is 66 ms too.

I pay $40 a month for my service, which is up to 6 mbps download and up to .768 mbps upload, and it's the top of the line from AT&T. The equiavalent at the cable company is $55 a month, and it's an extra $15 a month to get their top level package with is up to 10 mbps download and up to 1 mbps upload. Not to mention their service is shit, and goes down everytime we have a bad storm.

claviertekky said:Yep. HSPA+ is essentially 3.5G or whatever you want to call it since it uses existing 3G tech which the spectrum is already crowded. Btw 4G doesn't mean anything, and its useless definition was underscored when the 4G community changed its definition to include HSPA+.
That's why I called out the naysayers earlier in this thread dismissing those speeds because of network congestion.
It won't go down as much in degree to the 3G counterpart as LTE covers a wider spectrum.gcubed said:if you are trying to say that the speed won't go down when more then 2 customers in an area are on it you are foolish.

Maybe when market penetration is full, but with a wider spectrum available, I doubt that will be a problem any time soon.
Fair enough. We'll see what happens as Verizon LTE is supposed to be completed by the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014.gcubed said:these speeds will go down once another 5 customers go on, depending on how they are launching it, if they are allowing customers to span across channels for maximum bandwidth, as soon as there is another customer sharing that channel you are going to drop speeds. Sure it will be better then GSM, but hell, i'd wager that you won't see anywhere near this in September

I'm jealous of these speeds, my cable connection at its best isn't nearly as fast as that. The real test begins when Verizon starts selling LTE phones.

You are going to use up that 2.5 gig limit that is coming from Verizon almost as fast your battery!killakiz said:

Wow, I have AT&T in Georgia and I usually get in the 400ms range.Jamesfrom818 said:I just did a speed test with my G2 over T-Mobile in LA and my ping is 66 ms too.
yeah same here. I think plain 3G just has horrible latency.ascii42 said:Wow, I have AT&T in Georgia and I usually get in the 400ms range.
I'm pretty sure FIOS goes up to 50Mbits/snVidiot_Whore said:Err.. no. It shows 6Mbps.
I meant megabit.. or Mb in my post.. Since megabits are how we measure connections.
FIOS = 10-20Mb
His connection = 6Mb... which is pretty standard these days for even cable connections.
Get a SBC tech to look at your connection. Push for it. There are some things that you can do on your own like checking your stats and plugging your modem to the NID, but I don't know how comfortable you are doing those things.The Skater said:![]()
Yeah... Just tried to watch a movie with my free Vudu credit and it turns out I'm at the half mp/s I need just for SD :lol. I'd kill for something like this Verizon magic, but my parents have their bill set up for phone, internet, and dish so that's not happening anytime soon. I need to convince them to upgrade to Uverse.
