Yeah, I wouldn't have even noticed it was running at 50 rather than 60 if it wasn't for this thread. The display lag makes me want to get an original copy and play it on my CRT, though.
Well, the Japanese version wasn't 50 hz.Considering the game was designed at 50 Hz being a Euro and Japan only release this shouldnt be a big deal
Time to call in Digital Foundry for this Vib Ribbon emergency!
I'm having fun with it so far. I'd love to play this with the custom music option, but that's an impossible proposition on the VITA for obvious reasons.
To do that they either had to somehow update the emulator to make a virtual CD out of you MP3 directory or make it a native game. This isn't a native Vita game, just an ISO.They could have added support for MP3's saved on Vita's memory card...

Like I said on the last page, the timing window in Vib Ribbon is much more forgiving than something like PaRappa. It doesn't feel like there's input lag for this reason. I did the hardest level last night and beat it after a few tries. Compare this to the last stage in the PaRappa PSP re-release where I still have trouble.Rhythm game with input lag? Pass.
The alternative would be the japanese version
Doubtful since all PSX Classics must be direct copies of their original release.
It might still be possible for them to accomplish this within the PS1 emulator itself.
Currently, the emulator offers options such as control remapping and screen resizing. A revamped emulator could add the option for the user to specify an MP3 playlist, which the emulator would interpret as a "virtual CD" for the underlying game to utilize.
This would require additional programming, as well as increased processing on the system itself. Such a task might be more trouble than it's worth, especially since only a relatively tiny handful of PS1 games could take advantage of such a feature. If it is feasible, though, then I'd sure like to see it happen!
Game seems to play fine. Did anyone confirm that this is actually running at a lower framerate than the NTSC release or are we just assuming based on the origins of the ISO? I noticed the PS logo screen on startup was squished, but the rest of the game seemed normal. Hard to tell...

Some things aren't possible and others aren't worth all the effort.
And? If Nintendo took the effort to translate the menu screen from Japanese to English for Sin and Punishment when they released it for the Wii virtual console then Sony can do the same, but they chose not to.
One thing I like help with is...when exactly am I supposed to press the button?
Do I look at Vibri's feet and press accordingly?

Let's get a frame by frame analysis on the go. We need to know!
I never had a problem with this back in the day. Don't see why it's an issue now.
Irrelevant because the PS1 emulator's added lag ruins any action/platformer/rhythm game for me anyway. Lots of PS1 games I really wish I could enjoy on my Vita but I have to stick to RPGs and Survival Horror.
I know there was no US version, but people are acting like it's voodoo to expect Sony to, say, take the Japanese version, and import the EU localization work. Yes, it would be a little tricky, particularly with Vib Ribbon, and require some reverse engineering if the source is lost (likely), but I'm sure Sony could figure it out.

I mean, I understand a slight inconvenience but holy crap, the OUTRAGE here. lol cmon.
