Video game market 2007 (values)

Switzerland sure could spend a bit more. :(
Our gaming culture doesn't seem high.

So unless my quick arithmetic is wrong, I'm getting a European total of:

$20,862,188,100.
(does not count Australia/PAL)

So, all of Europe combined is barely larger than the US? It's a lot of work to do all of that separate localization....

Also, remember that from a Japanese publisher's point of view, the European and North American markets will be split heavily with Western publishers/developers. That Japanese number is almost exclusively Japanese published business. Just a thought.
And don't forget you have to translate the stuff in 2 to 5 languages in Europe, convert it to PAL, and often ship the games in different covers (in different languages). Business in Europe isn't easy.

I guess I should be thankful the United States speaks English... Otherwise, we Canadians would probably be screwed as badly as Europe... >.<

Flaws or not, what this can tell you is the relative market size between European countries. I added what percent of the European market each country represents based on the OT data.

United Kingdom $106,47 60.6 6450M $ 31%
France $60,87 64.4M 3924M $ 19%
Germany $47,27 82.2M 3886M $ 19%
Spain $50,86 45.2M 2299M $ 11%
Italy $27,66 59.3M 1640M $ 8%
Netherlands $48,82 16.4M 801M $ 4%
Sweden $59,37 9.2M 545M $ 3%
Belgium $48,10 10.6M 509M$ 2%
Switzerland $55,30 7.6M 420M $ 2%
Portugal $24,11 10.6M 256M $ 1%
Finland $24,07 5.3M 127M $ 1%

total/avg $48 371M 20857M %

@monkeylite

that`s why they treat europe like shit.... they`ll buy the games anyway....
Well I import 50% of my games now, probably more once I get a PS3...

Somebody should do a chart.

If it's already include PC then we shouldn't miss China and Korea. I would like to see how big the market is in those country.

Australia in second? That's surprising considering every thread about game sales in Australia always gets the same "Australia doesn't buy many games" BS. Now i can just link this thread for those trolls.
