Virtual On is a very technical game and I can't imagine Custom Robo would even come close to matching it...Jirotrom said:isn't Custom Robo on DS just like Virtua On?

Well, in my defense this one looks like it could be running on a DS chipset already. :loldark10x said:You want everything on DS.
Yeah, VOOT's better in basically every way (minus the console pad conversion controls) but I still have a soft spot for the original.dark10x said:Seriously, though, that looks pretty nifty. I can't say I'm all that interested, however, as I already have VOOT for Dreamcast and I don't see how this will be any better as it is based on the original game.
Ugh, no. I mean they're sort of loosely similar... in the same way Ico and Ninja Gaiden could be considered loosely similar.Jirotrom said:isn't Custom Robo on DS just like Virtua On?

Because it's a Model 2 game... no alpha channels iircInstigator said:Why are the tranparencies messed up?
Wii version of the arcade version plz.
2 sticks = 2 wii motes!
Go go go sega!
What is Sega Ages?
Model 2 used meshes instead of proper transparencies. Model 3 brought Alpha blending to the fold (5 bit: 32 levels of transparency).Instigator said:Why are the tranparencies messed up?

angelfly said:I don't know why but for some reason I interpreted the title as virtual console on sd. As for the game haven't played it in a while but I love it and a DS version would be pretty nice.
ive never played custom Robo just seen quick images and it reminded me of virtua on...sorry.Beezy said::lol
Only from vol.20 or whenever Sega took it in-house. Until then it was like Simple Sega Series and 95% of the games were dire.Tain said:The Criterion Collection of videogames.

It was Vol.15 iirc (Decathlete Collection). Most of the games are still farmed out too (to companies like M2, Sims, Land Ho, etc) it's just that SEGA (not D3) is overseeing it all.Jonnyram said:Only from vol.20 or whenever Sega took it in-house. jiji said:Yeah, it's based on the Model 2 version. I haven't played the arcade original enough to judge how close this is, but it's definitely far above the Saturn version.
It was a model 2 game. If the Saturn version looked that good, Sega would be still making hardware.Linkzg said:its a 3D Saturn game, dont expect much.
Pretty much, warts and all. And with more drama! And yeah, that was me over there.PepsimanVsJoe said:So jiji this is rather OT but I'm guessing selectbutton is the new insertcredit forums? I just saw that same comparison while googling, images and all, in the sb forum.

Too complicated. Wii FitDave Long said:It just occurred to me that some kind of crazy mecha game could be done with the Wiimote... first person perspective, transformations, you name it... all using say two wiimotes, one for each arm of the mech and cross pad for movement or something like that, etc.
Someone get on that.

Ok when I clicked on this thread I thought it was going to be some announcement about being able to play VC games stored on an SD card. Sorely disappointed.

PepsimanVsJoe said:Marz:
Dumbed down control scheme.
Lots of characters but most of them were clones and suffered from balance issues.
You were pretty much screwed if your partner was killed during the round, 1 vs 2 is near-impossible to work out.
Graphically not much of an improvement over VOOT.
Embarassing story mode that goes on forever and just sucks bad.
Really isn't cut out for any sort of competitive play. A total mess.
...
Marz is just worthless. Best left ignored.
Tain said:Basically, I'm wondering if Force really sucks in the first place, or if the blame should be pointed at the half-assed effort to port-tweak the game into something it isn't.
In 2001 the newly formed Hitmaker took over reigns of the series. gDennousenki Virtual On Forceh was a very large shift in focus for the franchise. It was four player. To facilitate this new dynamic, the dash attacks and general movement around the arena was modified. To clarify, you the player could move considerably quicker than the projectiles that were fired upon you. Instantly this negated almost any of the tactics and strategy that made Virtual On so special. Moreover the general game speed and controls responsivity was considerably lower than in previous incarnations, again not all that great considering the franchisefs historically high-speed nature. It is also important to mention that Virtual On Force runs on four Hikaru boards.

Guess one could consider this the "Isuka" of the Virtual On series.
