Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Been playing Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD and if anyone is on the fence about this one (and have PS+) you should definitely jump on it for the price. It is perfect for the vita and its small bursts of game play are great to kill time. Looks gorgeous on the OLED and it is practically the PS3 version with all the extras and PSP bonuses. Only thing lacking is the vibrations in the ground and the shaking of the trees that the end monsters cause when they are slowing and heavily moving towards your base. But otherwise, PERFECT!

Top of page recommendations! Corpse Party PSP games, Dragon's Crown (next week), Muramasa, DJMax Technica Tune, Lumines, Persona 4 Golden and Hotline Miami

GA is garbage, which is a shame because Uncharted 2 is glorious.

i also found muramasa impossibly boring so we just have different opinions on these things.

Heh. The vast majority of "gamers" seem to hold Uncharted 2 as the best in the series. I really do hate everything about it. EVERYTHING. I consider it to be the "Crystal Skull" of the Uncharted Trilogy. ;)

I haven't even played Muramasa yet, but I want to. I just haven't caved on giving them $35 to support it since I wasn't feeling the new translation. :P

Are you lamenting the lack of rumble on the Vita? o_O

XSEED's version of Valhalla Knights 3 will support online PvP battles whereas the original Japanese version only has ad-hoc multiplayer: http://www.siliconera.com/2013/08/0...o-valhalla-knights-3-rebalanced-the-game-too/

I want to support XSEED for their effort, but this game still looks terrible to me. Going to wait for the reviews...

I will support that effort.

What does the patch do?

I've only played UC1,2, and GA. I got bored playing through 2, I felt I just wanted to see the end, but it ended up going on for many more hours. I enjoyed the platforming in GA, it allowed you to be lazy at points, or do it the traditional way. The easy would take the "suspense" out of the climbing for sure. I really enjoyed GA's shooting though. That motion sensor after touch was slick once you got the hang of it. I haven't headshotted that many dudes since my CS 1.6 days. I gotta admit, I enjoyed climbing ropes using the rear panel :D

I've had 3 since Plus gave it out, but I have no desire to play it. Maybe one day, but who knows with everything coming out.

Just gave it shot. Played up until the second world. Just as terrible and rudimentary as everyone characterized it to be. Felt like something someone would make the first day of their first class of their first semester of their first year of computer programming. I actually found myself genuinely pissed off at the 9th stage of the 1st world. If you still need the trophy, I will send the challenge, but this is being deleted.
Yea still need it, thanks.

My hats off to you, Vitabro. I tried. Then I deleted. Then I tried again at a later date, resulting in yet another deletion. And then, you ask?! I tried once again. This time, it remains on my card, but do not confuse this for my affection towards it. It's tolerable for me, in small doses. It was another free gem, so I can't say much really..
I had played it when i first got it and went like 7 or 8 levels in and stopped. Didnt touch it since just now since i wanted to try it again and clear some of the lesser ps+ titles. Once i get the trophies or give up if they prove annoying it will never be played again haha, still for a free gamse its playable. Played worse plus games, will give that zombie tycoon game another try aswell but have less hope for it.

So, what are the alternatives? UC1 or 3? lol

As I've said above and before, any game with Uncharted in the title (save the card game, and even then...) is better than Uncharted 2.

I loved the touch climbing in GA and really don't ever want to play an Uncharted game without it from this point forth. Hopefully if there is another Uncharted on consoles (PS4?) they'll use the touchpad in the DS4 for it... I can't tell you how boring holding up and left or up and right gets. Much less annoying and much more interactive for me to just swipe the path out.

Spoiled myself with some vita love today:

Uncharted Golden Abyss retail (Second Hand 25 Turkish Lira almost like 13$. I already have US and EU ps+ but, wth, its dirt cheap at this price in Turkey)

Sly Cooper retail ( Found a promotion. Bought it for like 20$)

P4G 20$ from PSN sale.

I just need a price cut on memory cards :D

Yea too true. Touch mode also lets you oogle dem graphics. Which assuming if there IS a 4, and it has touch, dem gr4phics would be a major highlight.

K. Well, it's fine to be contrarion and all but at least give reason for your opinion. I know it comes down to "taste", but in this instance a strong case can be made for why this game is measurably the best in its class. And, i wouldn't even consider myself a fan.

This just cracks me up so much. It has the same gameplay as the other games. THE SAME. The only difference is there's SLIGHTLY less exploration than Uncharted DF, and more exploration than Uncharted 3. If you hate everything about Uncharted 2, then you, at the very LEAST, dislike the other Uncharted games.

I will never understand this opinion of yours.

Now, MY opinion is such: Uncharted 2->->Uncharted 3->->->->Uncharted Drakes Fortune->->Uncharted Golden Abyss

Uncharted GA is a very good game. It does the Uncharted series justice. It's just...it's hard to make a Naughty Dog game if you're not Naughty Dog. They can't make an Uncharted game better than ND, but they should be commended for how well they did. It was a fun game and well done.

Well, yeah that too. But I mean in the animations of the trees in the PS3 version. When the Golem Monster is moving towards the base, it sends out vibrations and those vibrations shake and rattle the trees. It's just a small touch but I noticed it right away in the PS3 version when I first played it and it is a nice little graphical detail that unfortunately didn't make it to the VITA game.

I'll PM you this, cause I don't feel like derailing the Vita thread for the 800th time since someone came in praising Uncharted 2 and trashing GA. :P
Sorry if it's long and disjointed/all over the place.
Also, I'm kidding at the end... but y'know, if you do want to hook me up, I won't complain. ;)

Ah, OK. I never played enough of the PS3 version to know that. It just sounded like a "it's missing rumble" comment and I was going to go into my dissenter's rant about rumble not really adding things to games for me 99% of the time. ;)
I just added the game to my Steam Wishlist though, for some reason I don't understand. I like *some* TD games, but Monsters was never one of them. Oh well, I'll support PJ games coming to PC in some fashion at least when I pick it up for <$5 in a Steam sale.

:lol
I was going to ask him what Roberto had to do with anything...

Hot DAYUM. I just unlocked the Pale Wing for EDF Portable. That lady sure can zip all over the place, definitely liking the faster style. It sure is going to be a pains going back to the foot to complete the harder modes.

I thought Uncharted: GA was the most progressive one of the series...

The collecting and metagame mystery stuff offered a lot more replayability. Aesthetically, story-wise, etc. it was the worst in the series but it was still great.

Any Hotline Miami players know if their previous data for ground kills and all weapons trophies carries forward?
I didn't count how many panes of glass I actually had to break or how many dogs I actually had to kill. I think both were less than the # required, so I think it might carry forward old stats, but I'm not positive.

I'd swear you were talking about PlayStation Home, but you used the word gem. And the word tolerable.

Where did you buy a second hand Vita game? I checked around that Best Buy-ish store on Istiklal Caddesi inside the mini-mall/pasaj with white pillars, but don't remember much Vita action. I was actually looking for a 3DS charge cable, but couldn't find anything...so no Streetpassing love while I was over there ;_;

Lots of Vita hits on Near though!

Won a Vita code for PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD for US PSN X)

Happiness :D

It's awesome, enjoy :)

Haha yeah, she's awesome. Only had a taster of her thanks to someone doing the final level in MP co-op...then had to go back and complete it bymself lol, nearly there...

Congrats. Where did you manage that?

For free, I'd take it!

I can confirm that Hotline Miami keeps your old list of used weapons. I just got Knife for Pros midway through trying to go through the checklist. Now I just need to figure out which ground kill I'm missing. Grrrr.

I should demand a free code for promoting this game to Vitagaf better than Zen Studios :)

I try to avoid spamming the board with promo for our stuff. Cool semi-surprise coming with the announcement next week, btw.

Yay, finally, the wait has been long! Im hoping the price is fair.

10 USD/EUR. Music licensing eats up a bunch of that, but we wanted to keep it to a price where people would be willing to jump in and try something unusual and unfamiliar.

Just found that out after some googling. If the open beta starts soon I have no idea what the point of these keys are.

The open beta starts in like 3 weeks.
The point is to get into this beta and play it now!

Just popped Hardcore Risette Fan. Now I don't have to worry about that anymore, I can focus on enjoying the rest of my playthrough. It didn't seem that hard at all, really. :S

10 is COMPLETELY fair. Great, even. I seriously can't wait for the game. I love that I'll be able to play with my own music, too. Time to put some music on my Vita. :)

I really never understood why people were constantly fretting over that trophy. As long as you actually played through the game, beat the
new level-bosses
it should pop near the end. That damn book one was the most frustrating one.

So I thought the Dragons Crown preorder I had at Amazon was a given for release date delivery but finding out now I was incorrect. Crap. I would really like them to tell us what the price of DC will be on PSN if it will have some kind of discount. At this point I would give up the artbook and get a $50 card and get DC tuesday and preorder DuckTales.

250 is a lot... and a lot of it is kinda random, but I just got it to pop first playthrough 2nd trip the the lab (haven't done anything after that dungeon wise yet).
However, now I can't stop trying to get different Rise lines. :\

Also - thoughts on Trigger Grips? Might pick them up as playing KZ:M for long sessions can make my hands hurt.

I've only tried the Hori grip. Hadn't thought much of it, felt like I was getting used to operating the Vita naked. Rarely used it because it won't sit in the charging cradle which is where Vita usually is. But now I've tried it while playing P4G and it makes a big difference for that game. Go figure.
