Really? Even Nintendo fans admit that the company has struggled to really justify asymmetrical gameplay on Wii U.

I would say that's a fault of traditional gameplay being pushed over innovative use. They are not pushing the gamepad, at all. I'm happy Vita has found a second life as a PS4 extension and after the past few lackluster E3's I had a feeling that's what Sony had planned. There is serious opportunity for both companies to capitalize on this and create some experiences but both seem to be taking the lazy route.

What Vita-related news have I missed while I was on vacation during the past week? I remember reading something about Senran Kagura possibly being localized.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus and Akiba's Strip 2 were teased by XSeed. Just waiting on official announcements now, hopefully with release dates and physical release confirmation.

Nice, I didn't know about Akiba's Strip. I'll definitely buy both digitally.

Good lord I love Terraria on this. Putting that game on a portable platform really suits it. Unrelated question, does anyone know if we are for sure getting The Walking Dead Season 2 on Vita? I've already picked it up on PS3 to play with my gf, but my Vita save is my playthrough (meaning how I'd play through each situation without my gf weighing in on the decisions, I know, weird eh).

I don't think sony gets less. Dont in most discounts the retailer takes the hit. They usually have already paid Sony the wholesale rate for their stock
In Japan that's how it works, but in western markets the publishers generally have to offer "price protection", meaning they have to refund the retailers part of the wholesale price for remaining stock that won't sell without a discount.

Great game of sonic and soul sacrifice last night guys. But my team lost today so.... going drown my pain in soul sacrifice.
Aw that sucks to hear man :(

Holiday has been good to me. I persisted with Jak and Daxter and got the plat.

Rayman Legends has also seen an influx of players. I've gotten 3 diamonds this week due to that and the extra time I've had. I'm inching closer to that platinum.

Also, does anyone have any tips for Sonic Racing, It's taking a few tries to win races on medium, let alone hard mode.
Know the track really well, drift boost and stunt boost as much as you can...
Then again I can barely win hard races so yeah haha.

If I play a physical copy of Dragon's Crown or Ys, and then later move to a digital version, is it straight forward to transfer the saves?

Would this be the case for all games, or are there exceptions? I heard that some physical Vita games save to the cart, others to the memory card, some have cloud support, etc..

Hold down the PS button (blue glowly one) for a few seconds and a quick-access menu will come up. Try turning off network features you don't need (including bluetooth), perhaps turning down the brightness somewhat as well.
There is a grip accessory from Nyko that has a battery pack which gives you extra playtime as well. Otherwise, keep a charger nearby :P Have fun :)

Turn off Wifi if you want to save a decent amount of battery.

Thanks for the info.

Edit: Top of the page, buy a PS4! It's the perfect Vita accessory even if it is a bit pricy. ;)

Soon. I have an OG 60gb PS3 and I'm sick of being economical with my downloads and trying to manage space.

For Sonic Racing yep, you'll have to know the tracks well and be able to get the drifting right for the boosting [you can actually switch directions while maintaining the boost, but you don't need to very often]. Usually level 1 boosts will do after most corners that would benefit - so don't slow yourself down too much/maintain the drift too long unless you are going at crazy speeds and could sacrifice a little speed now for a big level 2/3 boost shortly. If you hit the wall, it will cancel though so let go before then, the boost might help you escape collision and is better than no boost at all, and slowing down.

The drift button also works as a brake when you aren't turning - in case letting go of acceleration isn't enough to make the turn either.

Get a head-start, learn the timing on the count-down boost (when it lets you do it) - "get ready" - you should have already pressed it once lol! (then on the 3, on the 2 and on the 1 for maximum boost). You can tell by the glowing exhausts, otherwise dark smoke comes out. Keep trying even on the 1 if you messed up the rest. Timing needs to be a tad early.

Save an item that fires backwards when you can, in case someone fires something at you. You can also boost-escape but it's not always possible so don't rely on it - or practice lots!

Get a hang of drifting in the water too, it's useful for boosts. Air drifting is pretty tricky for boosting, but just for taking better corners it's beneficial. Tricks are helpful in the air for better positioning for corners/boost rings/items/quick responses but don't go overboard and slow yourself down. More for quick adjustments.

Use horizontal tricks when there isn't much time to land them. - like in that monkey ball track, with those 3 platforms that you drop onto, one after the other, just before you go into the water with the dropping balls.

Do an air trick while coming in from flying (aim for the upper part of the blue transformation ring) and when you land you'll get a transformation boost.

Helps me to use a kart and mod setup for races with a decent amount of speed and acceleration, control too.

Have fun though... :P

Some games automatically do it, like Soul Sacrifice, but otherwise you need to upload them via PSN +, install yous Digital Version, and download your save back.

So it look like the next Senran Kagura wont be on Vita even when Versus sold/did way better than Burst.

I really don't get this (I mean a game do very good on Vita in Japan, then the next game is on another platform)

Then versus 2 will come out and sell better, and the cycle goes on.

But I agree that Marvelous is on the quiet side, by the huge success of their games on vita I thought that by now they should have announced Rune Factory 4 Plus, Grand Knight History and more.

I am learning Spanish and I started to replay Guacamelee today. I was really hoping they'd have a Spanish text options.

I just finished the game in Spanish. I think you have to change the system's language to that because I never saw any language select option.

It wouldn't be that funny. The game is funny because of hoy it mix english and spanish, even though sometimes the spanish is not perfectly correct.

Welcome back Flandy.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Vita used as a controller more for games like PS4's minecraft, having the vita for the inventory would be good.

I'll be playing on Vita, but just saying.

Back from Mexico guys. Wi-fi was so shitty over there that I couldn't play MP and Near couldn't get any location data so I didn't even get to log the miles :c

I do a round trip on something like 7,000 kms a week, every week for work.

The place work in has the same issue - I've never been able to log the kms. I'd literally have millions :(

You know, opinions are kind of torn on the subject. About 15-20% of the new levels are touch-based, where you move Murfy around and do things to let the AI Rayman or Globox get through the level. I think they're fun. Not amazing, but fun. Some people don't like them and I get that because not everybody likes touch-based gameplay. I don't know if I would say its BETTER than Origins, but I do think it's at least just as good in its own way.

15-20% seems ridiculously low. I've played through all of the first 3 worlds and it seems so far that the NEW levels (not the back to origins levels) are about 50/50... I'd have to go count to be sure.

If you're a trophy person, like me, it's also worse than origins because of the stupid Vita only trophies. >_<

I'm holding strong but the impressions in this thread are making me think twice about my decision.

Maybe one of you kind souls want to send me a $20 PSN card to buy it? :P

Hah good luck with that :P Eating cornflakes and Mc Donalds over here :P Probably shouldn't have picked up so many games but the damn EU sales were actually pretty good.

Lol, does she know?

I don't even want to get into it.

I just don't get it. like with P4G do awesome then Vita get the non interesting game that no real fan asked for not the cool KH style spinoff of the series. Now Versus do good and Marvelous AQL don't see it as well.

I'm not sure if this move because something happened in Japan (don't follow weekly japan charts) but it's weird because there is a bigger fanbase for these games yet the publishers try to ignore that for some reasons.

Yeah, I misspoke there. Not counting the bonus world since they are remixes, 27% of the new levels are Murfy. If you want to count the new Invasion stages, that percentage goes down to 17%, but that's a little disingenuous.

Sorry about the misinformation.

Treasures of Montezuma is one of the best Vita games I've played.
Very addicting too, and it's free, everyone should go grab it.

I'm just upset at the situation as a whole. Didn't Takaki, or at least someone on the SK team, say that they accomplished what they wanted out of the series with Shinovi Versus? That it came out as they envisioned it? Not even going into the sales situation, I feel it at least warrants a 3DS and Vita release so EVERYONE can enjoy, but no... I'll have to wait years to play a game in (one of) my favorite series. :(

Anybody a fan of the first Dragon Fantasy game? Or should I just skip straight to the sequel?

Maybe go for the sequel? DF1 starts off by copying Dragon Quest 4's story concept: You choose from one of multiple scenarios and then all the characters team up to continue the story.

I just got a Vita, and the wifi signal strength is very weak. In spots where my tablet and my laptop get full to very strong signals, the Vita gets 40 - 50% strength. Because of this, download speeds are 3 - 3.5 mbps, when they should be 5 - 6 mbps. I have the 3G version, if it matters. 3G is disabled. The signal strength seems to fluctuate too much as well. Can I do anything to fix this? I can provide more info if needed.

Settings >> Power Save Settings >> Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode (un-tick).

I reckon it's a shame we don't have a Vita Terraria thread. I don't know much about the game which is lucky because I'm also a bit lazy...so it might be a disservice. But Terraria being on Vita deserves it I think.

Settings >> Power Save Settings >> Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode (un-tick).

In Power Save Settings, turn off "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode".

edit: Beaten like a dead horse

How is that going to help?
That option just controls whether or not it should turn off wi-fi when you're in standby.
That shouldn't affect speed.

On thing that can affect speed is if he has several other devices (e.g. his tablet and laptop) active at the same time as his vita (and god only knows what else.)

The more things you have communicating with your router wirelessly, the higher the likelihood of more collisions and packet drops.

Jump into that Soul Sacrifice Delta import. It's worth importing
for us
!

No banana, don't bother.

You'd think that's what it meant, but nope:
