It's just like the PS1 emulator for PS3 all over again. Just because a PS1 emulator works a certain way on PSP, PS2, etc. does not mean it will work the same on the next platform. Like with the PS3, they have to emulate each game assuring it works with the emulator. A game may run fine on PSP/PS3, but run into issues on Vita.

Well there's one of three ways this goes....

1. What you suggest (which I also believe)
2. They actually release some type of update to unlock compatibility wih new firmware as a way to gate the compatibility for the time wing
3. They actually don't have compatibility for anything else ready or are unable to (the most ridiculous of all 3)

I'm talking about when they announced the PS3 would play PS1 downloads back in April 2007. When PS1 downloads appeared to work on PS3 on the store, not all of them were PS3 and PSP initially. It took weeks to get all PS1 games for PSP to be compatible on PS3.

Thanks for the mod edit - it makes all this even more pitiful, somehow. But it's not surprising, considering how badly SCEA has shit the bed with the PSN Store on Vita compared to SCEE's constant sales and promotions.

Is it too much of a stretch to say that SCEA is actively sabotaging this poor handheld now? Because goddamn
