VVVVVV coming to 3DS eShop, published by Nicalis

Well that's a nice surprise. But knowing these guys, we probably won't get it for another 2 years or so!

As long as it runs perfectly in 3D, or even 2D. Was so angry with Bit Trip Saga.

This is actually a good sign for the 3DS. If smaller indie games like this are actually going to the service and not fleeing (like WiiWare) then it could garner some good support
But it's a port of an almost two year old (although fantastic) game. It's hardly the same as indies making 3DS games from the ground up.

There are already indie games being made for the 3DS, also it is still an accomplishment. You don't see it being ported to the Wii or DSi do you?

You guys got the wrong impression about me...I've already played and beaten this game on PC. There is no reason I would ever ever ever want this on 3DS, because I hate handheld gaming. Why play on a tiny screen, when I can play on a big screen? VVVVVV is definitely not a game I'd care to have on the go. Tetris, Lumines...those are games that work good on the go. That can be played for 90 seconds, and dropped.

Looking at that last screenshot, I now know why the game is called VVVVVV. It's all their names.
That's one reason. I've also taken it to symbolically represent the omnipresent spikes.

It's also the pattern that Captain V moves in since he 'flips' from ceiling to floor instead of jumping over obstacles.

I just played VVVVVV for the first time over the summer, but it's good enough that I'll double dip. Besides, when it comes out I can use it as a way to celebrate my 3rd anniversary with the game.

Very nice news. Will definitely buy again. I wonder if it'll have the level creator (a feature added to the C++ version). It'd be amazing to create levels with the touch screen, and even more amazing if we can share levels somehow.

Why is the top screen the same size as the bottom?

Is it coming to the eshop via DSiware or as an actual 3DS game?
I was wondering the same thing. I wouldn't care either way what it comes to. DSi = I can get it on my XL.

Why would you do that? said:

the blog post says it's in 3d. guessing that since it was designed as 4:3 nonscrolling there wasn't really an option to widen the playfield

And La-Mulana still isn't on Wii Ware :/

It has been for months in Japan. Dunno what's taking so long everywhere else?

I feel worse for Japan, they're not getting Cave Story WiiWare/DSiWare at all. Pixel can't even buy his own game. [/boggle]

Nigoro's official stance on this right now is "blame Europe".

More specifically, there were some shenanigans involving the rating boards over there that has and presumably is still holding up the release outside of Japan.

Well this is unusual..port-begging for a game you already own.

Yep. Besides, it says eShop and the screens match the 3DS's resolution.

How would the European release hold up the NA one?

Ah yeah, I forgot I read the 3D part.

But yes, what you say makes sense. The upper screens have black borders on the left/right. As a result, it looks like the entire screenshot has a black border around it.

ACHIEVEMENTS!! lol, I like being social and comparing achievements with friends. Most people I know will never know what VVVVVV is because most are not PC gamers, and sure as hell don't own a 3DS. I wanna tell more people to get it and play it. Easier sell on XB360/PS3

Awesome game, awesomer soundtrack. I'll definitely double dip on this one. I'd probably buy it for every platform it's ported to, actually. :lol

this brings me on step closer to taking the plunge on a 3DS[/QUOTE]
If anything, this screenshot just tells me that I wish the game was at the very least on DSiware, and not 3ds. The game isn't even 16x9, so the top screen will have those black borders on the sides. Not to mentioned when I've played the 3DS, i found the screens way too small, especially after having a DSi XL.
