Wait - Did Killer Instinct Just Tease One of the Best Designed Fighters Ever?

She is definitely my favorite Iron Galaxy design so far. All around, as far animation, design, technical move-set, etc etc. I just hope I'm not awful with her, she seems a bit more technical than other fighters which is very welcome. I can't wait to try her though, should be awesome.

Also, damn you guys and posting Darkstalkers. Such a shame Capcom decided to do another mainline Street Fighter. A new Darkstalkers would've been great or at the very least a new Alpha game.

It's sad how these updates get barely any cover from the media. KI is a completely different and much better game from what it was on launch and very few people realize that. It deserves so much more popularity and mindshare.

Gosh darn it, I read that title and thought they released Hisako's' official trailer with the cinder tease. Sigh.

Hisako looks awesome though, can't wait to try her on.

She looks like she plays like my favorite SF4 character Makoto, command grab into combos, axe kick, abysmal walking speed balanced out by god tier dash.

Low profile dashes, teleports, long reach with a polearm.

She's Faust from Guilty Gear. Maybe some A.B.A thrown in for good measure the way she clings to her weapon and her slow walk speed.

The new fighters have been designed well. The KI universe has been fleshed out well with the addition of these new faces.

But the cheesier the better, I say. I want more 90's cheese of mixing over the top cheese tropes.

That ranged command throw "shadow possession" makes her the new player friendliest grappler I've ever seen.

Very interesting overall.

She doesn,t seem anything special. As pointed out already guilty gear did it already. But the character herself seems cool. I don't however feel like she fits in very well with the rest of the cast. I'd imagine her in guilty gear, blaze blue, darkstalkers or even snk. But not KI.

What other characters are like this in fighting games though? Or even playable characters in general?

Well there is Zappa whose stchick is that he is being constantly (abd randomly) posseded by various ghosts, which reflect in his caothic moveset, main ghost being inspired by the grudge/ring ghost.

Pretty neat stuff.

Because the SP campaigns suck. The Sp menu system is just awful. I don't find the game user friendly at all and I hate how we are being drip fed characters and modes rather than getting a full package.

Already done in Guilty Gear.

Sadako is the one possessing Zappa.

Sorry but I have to disagree. This character looks much better and freakier. The concept has been done already no question but not to the quality of this.

As for the OT title - yes a little over the top but I really do believe it's a special design. Just love everything about it. Special does not mean "never seen before or done" just a 10 out of 10. As long as the voice matches up, we're golden. KI is really killing it.

Her intro is great. Love it. My favorite KI character is Spinal. I'm still not great woth him but he's awesome. This ghost girl, is great though. I was watching a vid, i think it was with Max Dood. I want to try her out, she looked like a good character.

Comparing her to Zappa's Sadako is wrong, and the entire idea behind both characters is entirely different. I feel those that bring up Sadako are just trying to put this character down.

The entire game is not user friendly. The game won't even allow me to play it.
I game offline up here due to super-slow capped internet. I bought my Xbox One in the states and was there in January to download the Killer Instinct Combo Breaker pack and patch it up fully so I could play offline when I left the country again. Recently I connected to the internet to download the February XBL update and to patch another couple games. A couple days later I try to fire up Killer Instinct and notice that the icon has changed to a Season 2 icon. The game itself will not boot, it sits on a Season 2 title page for a couple seconds and then says the game is unavailable. No amount of rebooting or try to clear the cache on the console changes anything. The game won't load. Upon connecting to Xbox Live and trying to play it though, I immediately get prompted to download a patch for the game. An almost 17 GB patch. 17 gigs it wants me to download on slow-as-fuck internet that is capped at 20 gigs. So I guess I could download it, but I don't know that I have 17 left, since I have video-called my wife and daughter a couple times. And even if I did have enough to spare, I wouldn't use it since seeing my wife and daughter is a bit more important.
The shitty internet situation in remote locations isn't their concern, but unwanted patches that break a game unless you download them shouldn't be my problem either. Cool-looking character but I won't be playing her anytime soon (probably won't bother with the character or the game for that matter upon returning to civilization either).

Yeah, that's a cool character design that I wish there was more of in fighting games. The other one I can think of is an original character from MUGEN called Ella who has a bunch of horror inspired moves:

My man!

Ella is the truth. I usually went and edited her name into Samara, though.

I wasn't really feeling the new KI until these last two character reveals, especially the ghost girl. She looks really well made.

Kinda. Zappa is weird because you're actually playing as the dude possessed by the ghosts.

Zappa's a genius character concept. One of the things that bugs me about Xrd is that none of the new characters come close to the creative concepts of characters like Zappa, Venom, or Slayer. The closest is Bedman, and he still feels rather off.

Really? I think that Bedman's design is pure genius. Right down to his absurd win quotes even.

Although i never be getting an Xbox i do olove watching their panels.

they know what their talking about
and i love the creative idea's they have

Hell, Season 3 is gonna have some Blazblue abstract type of chars ain't it?

liking how KI is ending up as the new darkstalkers game that capcom shitcanned~

We got a robot, mummy, alien, golem, ghost, dinosaur, fireman is coming.

And then there's Orchid.

Agreed. Iron Galaxy does what Capcomcan't.

JoJo got them all beat in terms of design and poses.

Too bad the only JoJo games we get these days are by the hacks at CC2. :(

I like Bedman's concept, but the implementation feels underwhelming. It feels less like a sleeping guy controlling a bed robot and more like a bed robot with a sleeping guy who just happens to be attached to it, if that makes any sense. The model and animation don't communicate the bizarre concept as well as they could. Also think the color should have been toned down (Neon pink and purple is a bit much), though I guess that's something alt colors already fix.

Still, he's my favorite by far of the new characters.

I like the design but best designed seems a bit much.

Counter characters? Quite a few in SNK games, while the Capcom games only have a couple (Karin who also has counters and rekkas).

Visually? Zappa is possessed by a multitude of ghosts. One of those has the whole Sadako look going on. Gameplay wise, they took quite a different approach with Hisako being a lumbering menace while Zappa is this goofy opponent rotating through ghosts on the way to unleashing a god.

Just chiming in to say that I really like what Iron Galaxy has been doing with Season 2. There were some real mix-ups thrown in to the game with the new characters. Great diversity of play styles and some interesting character-specific mechanics:
- Aganos being able to change the size of the battlefield by making walls behind him or the opponent, being able to, shield himself from hits or lose part of himself as a projectile;
- Hisako having the 2nd meter that rewards not being offensive (in a game that seems to reward the offensive player);
- Kan-Ra being a zoner who can also travel across the strange in really interesting ways;
- Maya's projectiles needing to be picked up from the ground with certain moves;
- Omen's ability to use Shadow Meter to make his moves really unpredictable.

I enjoyed KI from the beginning, but Season 2 has made it seem like a really fresh game. It's at a point where each character reveal seems to top the previous in terms of aesthetic design and mechanics. It seems to me like they are really using the platform as a playground, trying some wacky things knowing that, with the one character a month model, there are plenty of opportunities to patch things for balance rather than start by playing it safe.

Can't wait to see Cinder...and Aria, who IG seems to be teasing as a really insane character from a mechanics standpoint.

Can anyone explain how the Sp campaign works? I don't get it at all. I should just choose SP then select character then play.. But there's a whole other screen that comes up with challenges or something?

She has some nice touches.

Like the naginata scratching a line in the floor when she walks.

Hair looked good too, not great but not terrible.

Interesting gameplay style as well. Though Im not sure I want to see what high end tournament play with her would be like.

She's a real unique take on a horror classic, which is K.I proper. I think Aganos is pretty fresh too... we get much less hulking beast in fighters than young japanese girls... alive or dead!

Those chalenges are for unlocking S1 chara endings. Complete one of them while playing, and win that ending. Complete all ending for a chara to get bonus exp and a piece on the mural unlocked.
