This is gonna be a huge bomba

Looks totally alienating to normal audiences

John Carter 2.0

Except by a much less talented director.

I don't normally advocate for throwing together manipulative sizzle reels with bass drops, however, that would have probably been more effective than whatever that listless clip intended to do.

I appreciate the CGI here (let's be frank, it's pretty badass), but we really needed to see the live-action parts if thus is gonna be a movie.

Not a fan of Warcraft but that video definitely doesn't do any justice to what is likely amazingly well done CGI.

That seems surprising for something that is apparently Avatar like. Old news through?

It's important to note that the film will mostly take place on Azeroth (forests, swamps) and will not be as CGI heavy as the scenes on Draenor (Orc homeworld).

Another thing, I doubt this is an official trailer, more like a scene shown to hype fans of the franchise.

Atleast makes sense why they try to hard to keep this film under wraps thus far.

i think people are overestimating how much the warcraft ip is worth.

sure, young adult men who played WoW in their teens might go and see it. but their girlfriends and anybody who is old enough to scoff at video games won't.

You can tell the footage was underwhelming went it took this long for it to leak, stuff like Deadpool and Suicide Squad was leaking the same day it was shown.

Why does Warcraft need a movie anyway? Do they plan on rebooting the franchise or something?

If they're going to promote something, they should gone with Overwatch. It was already CG ready.

Yeah, maybe because of the quality of the leak, but this felt like a lost cutscene way back from WarCraft III.

This seems to be aimed at the Asian market primarily.
How so? eSports reasons aside, nothing in the footage necessarily suggests that.

Ah okay hm.

Still a bit surprise that there apparently wasn't a actual trailer, which I guessing we still getting in Nov.

I mean Warlords of Draenor was a blatant nostalgia cash-in for Blizzard. Ain't no one knows what Blizzard is doing with Warcraft.

Warcraft is a very popular IP afterall.

Was a popular IP. If this had happened way back when it was first rumored, around Wrath of the Lich King, sure, but now? Outside of the established fanbase I don't think it carries the weight people think it does.

An eerily good comparison would be Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It too was an extremely popular franchise (thanks to FF7), with an expensive CGI movie that came out 5 years late, after the series had waned in popularity, and similarly dealt with characters and plot points completely unrelated to the game that made the IP so popular.

Hell, people even said "Square's cutscenes are so good, they should make a movie," just like they have for Blizzard. Well, now it's happening, and it's giving off one hell of a "watch it when it comes to Starz" vibe. I'll wait for real footage, but based on this it's not looking so good.

World of Warcraft: The Spirits Within

Here I was thinking I was the only one who'd make that connection.

Can't really judge it fully since shit quality, but I mean if the CGI looks as consistently good as those renders put out earlier in the year it's going to look great. Outside of that though I don't really see what it has going for it.

I also played Warcraft games for years but thought the lore and story sucked though, so I guess this will kinda be in line with that.

Can't make out shit in this quality, I guess other gaffer have enhance potato feature on there computers/tablets/phones.

As someone who keeps saying "They should make a movie out of these videos" while playing Blizzard games, I'm more than happy to see all the CGI.

My worry is with the live-action parts, which never go together with a graphics intensive movie. It should be either one or the other.

If it's all CGI I'll treat it as animation, and we do lack epic sci-fi animation feature-films.

Damn....And I thought there was hope that this will help open the floodgates for more good video game, sword and sorcery movie adaptations.

The human stuff better be good so they can at least market that, but this Ork shit ain't going to sell to anyone in the general audience.

I mean, I'm not even talking about CGI quality either. That's definitely gonna be improved and already looked great in released stills.

Just the way a lot of that footage was visually composed is what seemed so off putting to me.

Yeah, that didn't do anything for me. I'm holding off any judgment until a proper quality trailer or two is released for it.
