Warcraft - Leaked SDCC Footage

Footage is boring because it's showing the Orcs in a very barren brown place and they needed to do something. It's only going to get a whole lot better when the alliance comes into play.

Who ever said the beowulf comment is spot on.Honestly when its all said and done , maybe they should have went full beowulf visuals. Because if i cant believe the orcs next to the live action humans and environment , then it just implodes on itself from the visual standpoint.

This is what the CG looks like in focus FYI

I hope not

Looks great as a hardcore nerd, but a tough sell to everyone else. They should market Ragnar leading the Alliance armies

Didn't look very interesting but this seems like a bunch of jumbled scenes put together for a clip video. This is not a trailer. I'll hold judgement until the real trailer comes out, which I think is in November based off of what was said at Comic-Con.

Care to explain what's wrong with it beyond vague snark?

I don't think it looks particularly good within the context of a big budget live action film? If it were a video game cutscene? Amazing. If it were a 100% CG Warcraft film. Excellent. But as someone who's not the biggest fan of CG, and much prefers as much practical effects as possible within a film, you're going to have to impress the fuck out of me with your CG if you're going to juxtapose it within a live action setting. That's simply too video gamey for my liking.

Oh dear. That's farther from photorealistic than I expected.

As a nerd I'm fine with it personally, but I can't speak for your average filmgoer. I mean, Davy Jones is a more convincing CG character if my memory hasn't failed me, and Pirates 2 came out years ago.

Edit:

Yeah.

What an awful first impression. They should have cut a regular trailer instead of showing straight footage.

It wasn't supposed to be seen by anyone except the hardcore fans at Comic-Con.

This is why companies are going to stop showing anything at these events.

Yeah well a leak is a leak. I hope the trailer come November will placate the average movie goer. For fans though, this is great.

Not really seeing much of an issue with the CG stuff with that level of video quality.

Nor am I seeing a bomb from raw footage that hasn't even been turned into a trailer yet.

Well we're hardcore fans here too, and look what we're saying.

Companies should know by now that this stuff is going to leak, it happens every year.

It's a wonder they don't charge for a PPV livestream pass or something.

I understand universal has a deal with legendary but Weta Digital would have knocked it out of the park. Thats if we got the best ,dawn apes and avatar team.

The November one is going to be an actual trailer:

What are you saying that's based on something more than a blurry-as-fuck video filmed on a shitty phone camera? I don't even know if the movie will be any good, but to say this is going to bomb off this video alone is ridiculous.

This is not the full footage either. It's missing quite a bit. I think it looks great and as someone has already mentioned after so many beautiful CGI trailers for Warcraft games seeing this gets my hype levels rising.

I actually liked it apart from the camera work. The conversation with his wife was nice but the rest of it has that kind of super smooth and constantly moving quality that makes it look kinda... I dunno, but it bothers me.

Aside from the potato quality, it really looks like some shitty videogame CG.

This is not theater material.

This wasn't a trailer. Just son random footage. It looks like what I thought it would, so I am impressed. I hope it turns out good so we get more videogame ip pushed into production with higher budgets.

Paula Patton looks really good in this footage.

Also this is Duncan Jones directing. We should watch what we say until at least a trailer is shown.

Real talk, I hope the budget on this is not massive - cause this is going to be a colossal flop. I don't mind the CG orcs, but the environment/backgrounds look video game as fuck. At least John Carter had CG characters on top of backgrounds that look realistic. This was just terrible.

Edit: That portal especially was fucking awful. what the fuck

You can't even tell from that shitty quality.

I hadn't actually read any impressions. It seems like there's a battle scene were missing. This quote is kind of squashing what little hype I hAve left after that clip though:

Warcraft definitely looks like it’s CG and green screen. These are not real sets. Granted, the humans are real and wearing real costumes, but their homes are all CG too. What that look does is give the whole movie a glossy feel. Think a dirtier, dustier, more muted Avatar. It feels like a video game has been turned into a movie. I think many fans are going to complain that it looks to fake but, come on, how else could this get pulled off? From the footage we really got a sense that Jones did the best visuals technology could do, but made the relationships and characters wholly real and believable. If that stuff works, the story will work and the movie will work.

I recall last Comicon (or was it Blizzcon) footage was shown of the movie and was never leaked.

Love people extrapolating from a cell phone vid.

I was hoping some Stormwind footage would leak, but oh well. If the movie is anything like the aerial tour they provided, it will look fantastic.

Bad camera work, awkward script and video-game like cgi
this film is going to be a disappointment in every respect

i think people are overestimating how much the warcraft ip is worth.

sure, young adult men who played WoW in their teens might go and see it. but their girlfriends and anybody who is old enough to scoff at video games won't.

I used to play with a lot of women back when I played WoW, so I don't know about that.

It looked like a Blizzard cinematic which is being faithful to the source material. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out as a movie. Still has shit tons of time till it releases so I'm interested in what we'll get to see next.
