Wasteland 2: Director's Cut |OT| Post-Apocalyptic, Post-Release Remix

Charisma....isn't as useless as luck. It's key for a non-combat focused character getting more xp for personal actions such as lockpicking etc., and really helps make your leadership radius bigger, which helps your non-combat unit act as a good 'support/buff' character. (especially with some of the new leadership perks). Plus, you'll get more stat points every 10 levels, which can alleviate early 'non-min/maxing' choices.

And like I said, high party total charisma is important for some recruits, so you're better off on that front.

It just makes combat a fair bit more difficult for the start, lol. Also, shotguns are a bit of an AP hog no matter what, to be fair.

I've never actually taken the Highpool route, but I've heard similar things in regards to the setup of the 'level' and how its 'easier' for a newer player.

Also, even if it isn't a min max winner, it is great option for role playing. & for anyone who likes role playing more than minmaxing: leave the difficulty on default.

Well, I just got super amused in the Ranger Citadel when the merchant made a blatant
reference to Fallout 1's whole plot. So now we have the followup to the original game making a referrel to the game that was based off it.
I think we've come full circle now.

Returning players from the original Wasteland 2, important question:
Rose or Vulture's Cry?
Some end game spoiler
Rose is unusable in final confrontation
Vulture's Cry will leave if you kill too many animals

I got the PS4 version from gamefly, didn't realize the directors cut was free for owners of the original on PC.

Guess i'll play around with it for the weekend. The short LOD on shadows is super annoying and the camera doesn't go out very far. Controller mapping seems pretty good so far. It's very enjoyable on PS4.

30 I believe.

yeah it seems like 30, but it actually has some uneven moments where it seems lower.

I realize this was probably a pretty low budget console port focused on getting the input right but the way this game looks it should not be running at less than 60.

Diablo 3 is a good comparison but Diablo 3 has tons more action, effects, and characters going on than this does with a lot more detail in the environments and characters.

I'm about to start the game for the first time, kickstartered it but never got around to it before the DC got announced and I decided to wait it out some more.

Just made my team, how's it look?
1X7Mg7A.png

I'm not looking for a perfect min/max kinda team, but hoping the team's alright to play the game on Seasoned difficulty? I've heard there's some balance issues.

So after taking a serious look at the Quirks and because I didn't like how SMG was burning through my ammo I decided to start over so here's my new team:

lol after lvl up to sniper lvl 4,my sniper is fucking up everything. at least 80% on every shot and strangely good percentage to very close enemies.

You guys aren't familiar with Unity if you think this game should be running at 60 locked on console.

Pretty much anything that's not a side scroller in Unity tends to really tax things.

Getting a bit frustrated with the interface, and possibly bugs.

The skill wheel doesn't always show all available skills, sometimes it will just show lockpicking and nothing else, I also struggle with the way you select party members to heal, and sometimes have to use healing items from the inventory to get them to work, as they won't work through the skill wheel.

Weapon hit percentage seems to have a mind of it's own, sometimes it will show unusual low hit percentages, even though I am in the correct range, and I can't figure out why.

Menus also seem a bit laggy, which considering you spend a lot of time in the menus, makes things like wading through treacle at times, I also don't like the way there is no textual indication of party members, it's all driven by portraits, which is fine if you can remember who is who by their portrait.

Just seems like I am wrestling with the interface more than I am playing the game.

I decided to restart and make a new squad as well. Too many wasted stats on my first squad.

If you want to select particular party member to heal, cycle through them (by pressing L/R) before you choose the medic skill. After you choose the skill, you can't cycle through target anymore. It's silly, yeah.

Regarding weapon accuracy, perhaps the enemy is on cover, or it's not your weapon optimum range. Check each of your weapon's optimum range. Even though there are 2 same type weapons (ex: assault riffles), sometimes their optimum range is different.

If you have low hit percentages it means a variety of things:

Enemy is in cover
You are not in cover (gives bonus to hit) or not crouching.
You need to flank the enemy, especially in cover
Range issues (assault rifles show a debuff at close range, but other weapons generally you have to gauge distance yourself).

....

Just seems like I am wrestling with the interface more than I am playing the game.

That's disappointing to hear, the UI was my biggest gripe with the original version. Way too many clicks to perform basic actions like demolitions and lock picking.

EDIT: typo

Dunno how it was in the original, but the DC on PC is pretty good about this. Right clicking an item/gate/door/etc brings up a small menu that has listed every skill you can use on it (lockpicking, smashing etc) and their success percentages. Clicking on one of the skills makes the character with the highest rank on that skill perform it

It's simple and very nice to use.

There are actually hotkeys that you can use, right?
I'm playing on a gamepad, and it feels so good. I tried using a kb/m to check it out, and I just can't. I'm already too comfortable with gamepad controls.

I'm sure it's much easier on PC, it's a bit of a struggle on console.

The hit percentages seem to swing from normal say 70-80%, to very low, 1-2%, with pretty much the same position, weapon, cover.

Is it worth trying this if you're a fan of the new Bethesda Fallouts but found the first 2 intensely dull?

have you played xcom games (new/old), jagged alliance 1/2? Incubation? If not then skip it. Haven't played fallout 1/2 (only 1 hour of 2) but i like good round based tactic games. A lot to take in at first with these games but once you delved in, they are addictive.

When they fix the small text on ps4, im happy.
I guess it's not worth buying weapons since you constantly find them on enemies?

Just completed the AG Center and
surrounding towns affecting by the plant/virus
. Went back to the citadel and found out I could recruit
Angel Deth
. Man this game is huge and
she would have
been welcomed in some of the fights. :/

Had game since Tuesday -played every day and feel like I'm barely scratching the surface!

So many people missed her in the Beta. It was hilarious. She's meant to ease you into combat :P

Hi guys! I bought the game today and I'm going in totally blind. Can you give me any tipps and tricks to make the start of the game nice and not frustating? Any do's and don'ts?

Make sure characters have: Perception, Demolitions, Surgery, and First Aid. Not all characters need them, just make sure they're present somewhere in your roster.

And also pick a weapon type and focus on it for combat characters at the start. If you want them to have secondary weapons, you can pick it up along the way leveling up, but the start of the game is hard and you'll need every bit of accuracy you can get.

I guess...speak to everyone in the starter area and pay attention to the dialogue? :P

coordination is too high ;)

The skill wheel issue is really bad and needs to be fixed. For weapon hit percentage it could be because another enemy is to close to that character. Sometimes that causes a character to freak out and destroys hit percentages. There will be a little icon next to their portrait if that happens. Don't think the game explains this though.

I'm really liking this game so far. I backed it on the kickstarter but haven't had a pc that could run it well so I'm finally playing on PS4. Restarted after the at center since I had a better understanding of the system and made a much better party. My originals were alright and could get the job done, but things go a lot smoother with the new guys.

Have one character with good charisma and the leadership skill. That been helping me a lot.

For those of you just starting the campaign, I would highly recommend going to Highpoint instead of the AG Center. Trust me on this.
The AG Center mission can be extremely tedious and frustrating for beginners.

Making some progress - well the UI is clunky, very clunky.

Went to Highpool first
and fixed the valves. Now I have to support the woman by swaying the townies with good deeds. But I missed saving the burning house guy. Probably going out and hit the Wrecking Crew guys next?
. Tips?

Between Highpool and AG Center - you'd have to choose one or the other? It's been a while I've seen timed and semi-real time objectives in an RPG, is there a point going to AG Center after Highpool?
The last radio call says they're all dead. But thinking, I could still get some XP or loot around there
.

Went in with a few points in Assault Rifles for all of my squad, are Pistols, SMG, Shotties good? Tried wielding Heavy Weapons, they eat bullets, fast.

I am pretty sure you have to to continue the main quest. (Bigger spoilers follow) You have to go to see that you cannot get the other repeater you need put up up cause the satellite dish is destroyed (at least I suspect htat as I want to Ag Center first but when I went to high pool I found the antenna destroyed and was told to go to some other town. I suspect it works similar if you do highpool first where Ag Center's satellite is destroyed and you have to go to some other town

:) you guys are brutal.

I have the missing perk bug and while I could go into the save file to fix it, I think I'd be too tempted to also give myself a few extra skill points. I'm terrible.

Guess I have to survive without them.

The max level is 50. The first 10 to 15 levels are the hardest. Get through those and you'll be fine for skill points. By the mid 20s you'll wonder how you ever had issues.

wait I know of the companions disapearance but what about the lost perk ?

Is the game supposed to be brutally hard at the start, even on the normal setting? Like, fighting raiders or whatever they are called is easy. But I had two encounters with animals (one lizards, one mutated flys and worms and bunnies) and it just seems impossible to win. My weapons miss so often. Even melee weapons. I assume the percentage that shows before you attack is your chance to hit? Why would a melee weapon show 17%?

I made my guy but chose preset for the rest. A medic, a jack of all trades, and a locksmith guy IIRC. Angela Deth joined my party too. My problem is just missing almost every single attack and then running out of ammo. Wtf am I doing wrong?
