The thing is, though, Alan Moore is pretty much completely insane, and he won't deem any adaptation worthy until they give him full control over it. He justifiably hates having other people touch his work.
I think that, so far, this looks pretty good. Better than my expectations, at least, since I was somewhat iffy on the costumes when they were unveiled. While I'm not expecting this to live up to the Watchmen graphic novel, there's no reason that it can't make for an entertaining movie.
Plus, Snyder sells me on his enthusiasm, what with doing the Black Freighter separately and doing all the web episodes stuff. It seems like he knows he can't get all of the content into the movie, but he wants to try to make it available anyhow.
I'm still reserving judgment and won't let myself get too hyped, but I am more positive on this now than I was before.
