Manhattan doesn't have anything to hide. He is who he is. Rorscach is still a masked
illegal
vigilante.

It's a really cool coffee table-style book that's filled with really great photos from Dave Gibbons' personal work and his notes on the making of the Watchmen graphic novel.
I really need to get this at some point. It looks awesome

Is that motion comic the same one as the one from iTunes?
The one with one guy doing all the voices?

Manhattan can sound however he wants to sound just like he can look however he wants to look. The way it was explained to me was that Manhattan would want to sound as normal as possible so that he wouldn't freak people out.

Both pre-ordered. Still waiting for Black Freighter to appear for pre-order.
Hell yes.. it'll be like an animated side story of 300 if Leonidas was a pirate. (Gerard Butler is voicing the protagonist)

Whoa. What's she doing there? The plot barely needed her with the original ending, and I can't think of a way to work her in with the rumored changes at all...

Also, I was wondering who they'd get for Dr. Long, and he looks great. I hope that whole scene is in the film. Wonderful scene.

I guess the squid is still in.

That's the only reason I can also think of yes. Wasn't she the one who
drew the design for the squid?
. Hmm, this is interesting.

Exactly. She's only in the movie for a few panels, and all of them involve that hideous thing.

All these look fantastic! Especially Walter and Big Figure opposite each other.

Holy shit. Holy SHIT.

Hmmm, definitely an interesting development, but upon reflection, I'm not jumping to conclusions just yet.
They could still take extreme liberties and alter her actual role within the movie's storyline. Theres nothing stopping them from changing her from an artist into some kind of lead bohemian scientist/researcher/specialist in charge of that whole "perpetual energy" project that ends up playing a hand in framing Dr. Manhattan or whatever.
It's a stretch, but you know shit like that is possible.

I wanna believe
the squid
is real, not necessarily for integrity's sake anymore, but just to see if not Snyder can actually pull off such an epic charade.
Ozy-style.

Upon thinking about it, she could just be the Gunga diner waitress :/

:/ indeed.

Just because she was photographed for PR doesn't mean she even has a line.

May I direct you to Exhibit A: Bounty Hunter Aurra Sing.

I was hoping that they'd get somebody good for Dr. Long; his mini-arc is delightfully twisted. The only way he could be more uncanny is if he had a big grin on his face (assuming that that is taken before he met Rorschach).

Awesome, I can feel the excitement bubbling up inside me.

Which is sad, as I promised I wouldn't get excited given it was likely to be a disappointment. But everything I'm seeing and hearing suggests that we may have a film which is as loyal as it can get to the source material.

I wonder if they've kept Rorscach ginger?

And perhaps the biggest shock of all.

MEGATON

ARE YOU READY?

SERIOUSLY?

OK, HERE IT IS:
Can someone please link me to the source of these photos? I want to see them but my work blocks imageshack so if I could just go to the site you found them at...

I'm really curious to see how much WB is aware that they're stringing people along with this PR shot. I guess we'll all find out in March.

Same here. Making a movie that LOOKS just like a comic is easy. Making the complex story of Watchmen into a cohesive and entertaining 2 hours movie is an impossible task.

I'm sure WB is showing the hardcore fans how close it all looks to the original material visually but they've actually butchered the story. Really skeptical about all this.

I think BB was specifically referencing the squid scene.

Oh. Ok.

Then I'm talking about the whole movie then. The trailers and videos we've seen makes it look all glamorous and cool with fight scenes and slow-motion shots but Watchmen isn't about the glorification of heros or superheros. It's the complete opposite. They take heros and dig deep into their pitiful beings to show the real sides of these false idols and their way of life.

At least I'm sure it'll be well-shot, that's the least I can expect for now.

If not, could someone at least explain what the photos are, content-wise?

Agreed. It somewhat works as in it's an attack by an external force, but everything leading up to it, Gordian Knot, the Black Frieghter, the Dimensional Research stuff, it just doesn't fit in.

It simplifies the whole Manhattan arc too much. It makes the ending and the whole story about half as interesting. No minds will be blown.

I don't care if it's a squid or whatever, but if an inter-dimensional alien creature is not present, than I would deem it a total fuckup to a would-be awesome movie.

Fuck. Apparently someone who has the Portraits book confirmed that the indian lady is just a waitress from the Gunga Diner :(
Oh shit, Snyder's straight up trolling the purists. :lol

Oh my goodness.

It's out there now.

So does "new" mean new in the sense that it's different from the original novel, or new when compared to the one in the test screenings? I suppose that is the question.

If I'd ripped open the polybag I'd've had to buy it.

:(
