GAF loves witch-hunts and guilty until proven innocent threads.
It didn't help that you had hundreds of VOAT/Chan & jilted ex-gaffers taking advantage of the situation.
That's certainly true of GAF. I've seen that happen in the past a few times.
You left out the part where she didn't intend for any of this to go public as she posted it privately and just used it as an example of unwanted sexual advance. Her friends posted it out to the web. She was very upfront about EL dating etc. later when interviewed.
That's a large puzzle piece, thank you.
This incident is abuse no matter which way you cut it. It was a sexual encounter without consent. Any relationship after the fact doesn't absolve him.
People need to understand that abusing women is about power more than it is about sex.
Combine this with the fact that:
- He aggressively attacked her after she came out, claiming she was mentally ill.
- He has shown no sign of remorse or sense of responsibility for this, or any incident in the past (the European butt grab, the Amirox incident).
- He has displayed an ongoing tendency to disrespect women when he speaks about them.
You really want your clicks filling this psychopath's pockets? Do you really need a criminal conviction before you stop supporting this asshole?
At a certain point you just have to admit you're making excuses to keep the GAF dream alive.
It sucks, but it's gone.
It's a point of cognitive dissonance for me to say it doesn't absolve him, because if they talked about it after and he agreed that he was wrong, then they moved on as friends and later became more than friends, then there has to be a certain amount of forgiveness there. And as it's an incident involving only her, doesn't her forgiveness matter most of all? It's a confusing thing for me, mainly because if I hadn't forgiven someone for something that affected me enough to say the things she said on social media I wouldn't choose to be friends with them. That's all I can go on.
That's an interesting insight about power though, thank you.
The mentally ill claim is a strong one, and I hope he has evidence to back that up or he's just going to look worse. What is it they say? Two people tell their side of the story and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. They're both saying a lot, and none of us know the truth except those two. No one knows EviLore's intentions but him. I will say this though: it doesn't exactly do him many favours going straight for the "Bitch is crazy" defence.
Regarding those two incidents:
-An interesting one. Starts with it being a power play to show dominance, but ends with backtracking/additions that it wasn't the only interaction nor was it all hostile. Either he was backtracking to save face or he was trying to show off when he originally told the story. All I can say is that it was not how I would have dealt with the situation.
-From what I can gather, the issue with the amir0x statement was that they wanted to stop people doxxing on the forum, which if true is absolutely fine. If they did know his real name, then it's a fine line between stopping personal information being posted and protecting him for whatever reason, possibly because he was an old friend. Or perhaps they wanted to Chris Benoit him, I dunno.
I'm not saying you or anyone is wrong about any of this, but the general GAF reaction runs counter to my approach to things, which is to question and be sure before drawing conclusions. I like to try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I like to see the good in people and believe that they can change for the better. The odds are against him here, but there's so much going on with the suicide posts (why not just log out and delete the bookmark/history, I really don't get that) and comments without explanation that this is all new to me, so I'm playing catch up and trying to better understand all of this. Thanks for replying to me.
