WCG 2011 - Starcraft 2 Qualifiers (Regionals and National) + Main Event

Darkforce played a sick game against MKP. And is apparently 5-0 in his group, wow. MKP beat beasyiqt though, so he'll advance as well.

Morrow already lost 2 games, he's basically out.

Supernova and Macsed lead Group H.

G, the group of death is upset city. ToD 1-5 (wat), not Lowely, Strelok, Cloud or Kiwikaki leading - but dignitasBling (second best UK player). Very surprising.

Woah, Snute > Morrow

Good Top 16.

3 Koreans (MvP, MKP, Supernova)
3 Chinese (Xigua, Macsed, F91)
2 Germans (Darkforce, Goody)
2 Canadians (Huk, Kiwikaki)
1 Norwegian (Snute)
1 Russian (Titan)
1 Australian (Moonglade)
1 British (Bling)
1 Ukrainian (Kas)
1 Chilean (dKiller)

Highlight matches of the Ro16 should be Glade vs MKP, Huk vs Kas and Supernova vs Goody.

Disappointing results for Idra, Sen, Strelok and Morrow.

It's good to see the chinese perform after iem xiangwhatnot.

Crap for moonglade that mkp got 2nd in his group.

Also, dissapointing for Fenix.

Moonglade!

Andrew Pander is back. Beats MKP convincingly in game 1, loses oh so narrowly in game 2.

1-1 now, final game coming up on the main stage!

Yet again, a korean ekes out a narrow 2-1. Eternal story of SC2 so far.

Marines and Medivacs are incredible. That was some great micro by MKP there, target-firing the Banelings with the Tanks. I was surprised to see the Roaches be so ineffective against Marines being healed. Completely outmatched.

Glade played well but he simply must be frustrated seeing how that series went.

MKP beats Moonglade
Supernova beats Goody
Titan beats Kiwikaki
MvP beats Macsed
F91 beats Darkforce
Xigua beats Snute

The Germans are out, Korea still has all three players remaining, China has two, Russia has one. Huk vs Kas and Bling vs Killer are still going on.

edit: Tekken next. :/

Bling beats Killer, Kas beats Huk.

Don't think the Ro16 could've gone any worse. Pretty much all the players I rooted for lost. :(

Go Kas, I guess...

I'm not going to read the thread yet since spoilers and so forth, but this is rough. Really, really rough. Tastosis using terrible hand mics and not having any incoming audio feed. Video quality makes this look like Brood War captured from a third generation VHS tape. Sound mixing could not be any worse, with music and game sounds blasting while the casters are trying to speak.

Then there's the extremely inappropriately top heavy prize pool, along with that ridiculous fee ($1500 or something?) they were trying to charge for foreign competitors to participate.

Let's esports like it's 1999. Adapt or die, WCG.

I can't remember what that tag line is for. I know I saw it just recently. What is it?

I can only speak for SC2 because that is the only game I follow real closely in the competitive scene but how much publicity do some of these other games get? I know LoL gets some decent exposure, but there was some really wacky looking games (some kind of side scrolling brawler with 2 teams fighting each other?) that I doubt draw much viewership besides this event.

This is pretty much exactly how my friend described it to me and he barely watched BW. The tournament is just garbage and i think the amount of viewers on the streams is very telling. SC2 fans have plenty of choice now and they don't have to put up with shit like this to watch esports anymore.

Either step up your game or get lost in the crowd.
