"We can't afford the xbox, so I'm getting a PS4"

I wonder, if PS4 really steals customers away from the Xbox, what that'll mean for PSN if all those people who had sex with my mom last night switch over.

What?

I am clearly missing something...

Like does your Mom really like xbox fans or something?

Christmas is a Pagan holiday.

No Christmas is a holiday timed to coincide with a Pagan Holiday.

As for the price difference, I've heard this a lot among College and University students here in the UK, Sony has the exclusives I want (either coming out OR in their IP catalog that will show up later) so it doesn't really effect me but being able to get Console + a couple games for the price of a console (or FIFA) and no games matters.

Where are all these magical cash machines where when you try and withdraw $500 (the money you saved up) to buy a PS4 and a game, it actually gives you $600 instead?

I never mentioned LAUNCH titles. To be frank I don't buy games on release unless I am utterly convinced it's going to be good (ie Witcher 2, which it was worth every penny)

Most recent example: Origin Humble Bundle
Dead Space 3, Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, and Mirror’s Edge

Most of those I would consider AAA, and I paid a dollar for them. Were they launch? No. Were they recent? Not really. Dead Space 3 came out 6 months prior to this deal though, so I'd say that's a big deal. Hell, even AC3 was on sale on amazon for like around $15 or so, and ubisoft games are never on sale anywhere for that deep of a discount, even years out (unfortunately)

I too have a PS+ subscription and think it was worth the money I paid for it. Is it as good as steam or better? No, because I don't need an active paid account in order to continue to use the games.
I would consider that an exception rather than the norm.

So what do you play then? Do you only play old games because you don't want to play games at full price?

"Trash talkers" on XBL, although PSN has its own already

Ah wow I completely missed that

Price is huge here, especially given the state of the economy. There are more and more layoffs announced each month in the tech sector here in the US, and we are talking about $400 - $500 here. $500 seems to be a psychological barrier for some

I know that in my case money is no issue, yet my wife said no chance in Hell we would be purchasing a $500 game console. She had no problem with the PS4, though. Go figure. I also will only be buying one console this time (older, responsibilities, etc) so MS lost out on any chance of my money for the next five years or so.

I imagine my story is not unique

I mostly do. Why pay $60 when prices drop fast and I mainly play single player games that are just as fun after price drops/sales as day one?

Gaming isn't my top hobby so consoles and games generally aren't worth day one asking prices to me.

I'm sorry but none of that makes any sense. I have a gaming PC and I have yet to see these super mega bargains that you speak of. Sometimes you can pick up some good titles during Steam sales (for £5-15). Nobody is forcing you to buy a more expensive variation of the game.

You can't get any big titles for 'cheap or free' at launch day. No good PC game is for free. I don't know what land you are living, but I would also like to know where I can spend $1 on AAA titles.

This is superior to Steam.

There are a lot of free PC games... Blacklight retribution (better fps than cod/bf imo) I consider it an AAA title, it is coming on a year and a half old now though. DOTA2, LOL, firefall, rift, plenty of MMORPGs, warface whenever that comes out, the list is huge man. I've read that crytek is focusing on f2ps for PC.

The best deals for PC gaming come from steam holiday sales, humble bundle, greenmangaming sales, amazon sales...

Honestly, I own many of those games on the PSN list and I don't even play them. That list just looks big because they include every little title and old title they can possibly fit on there. The good titles are actually quite small in that list and to get all of them you also need to own a vita.

Steam is definitely not outdone by PS+... that is bordering on ridiculous to be quite honest. I think humble bundle beats that deal by miles. You could pay 1 dollar during the EA humble bundle and receive like 8 games. And they have 2 different bundles going on simultaneously.

edit: heck I just checked the last bundle I purchased and they added 4 games to my order free of charge... I donated about 4 bucks and got 10 games now. Last week I donated like 5 bucks and got 6 games. The week before I donated 1 buck and got 7 or 8 games (didn't want all the games on the list). So between about 10 dollars I got 24 games... not to rent but to keep. DRM free if I desire or (since I don't care about DRM being present) all serviced by steam or origin.
