Granola is for dieting, if you want a real treat head to the Texas State Fair and get you some deep-fried butter. Wash it down with a deep-fried bacon cinnamon roll!

has jaguar been brought up yet?

probably the americans stupidest pronunciation next to words that end in 'ham'. one time an american friend of mine said 'tottenham' over skype and it was the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Jag-wahr? Like how the most of the western world pronounces it?

PAL SNES > NTSC SNES

what now, americans?

Earthbound, EVO, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 6, Breath of Fire, Gradius 3, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Lufia, Ogre Battle, Robotrek, and Super Mario RPG called. They'd like to have a word with you.

Exactly. First off, it's an American animal in the first place. USers can go in the wild and see the things, UKers just know the name by the car brand. So the conversation about pronunciation ends there :p.

I also like how when we take a recent loan word, we try to keep the pronunciation as close to the original word as possible. British English speakers don't give a flying fuck. They'll pronounce it the "easiest" way.

Another thing about your country I find incredibly bizarre and a little scary is the amount of time and money poured into high-school football and the pedestal talented players are put on. Especially considering the state of literacy and test scores in some of those states where football is god.

I'm with you on that one.

We don't clap on theaters either in Spain (where I'm from) nor Japan (where I live). Clapping in the theater just seems... meaningless. If it's at the end of the movie, that is. I assume nobody ever claps mid-movie, of course.

Clapping at the end of the movie would only make sense if the actors or directors or other staff is also attending and it's some sort of event or something.
I've been to a recorded-music musician concert. Its accepted that you applause the artist, even if he isn't there.

Low blow, man

:(

Seriously, I think Upper Crust made up about a third of my diet while I was visiting the UK. Pret was probably another third.

As someone who worked in a station (& therefore received a discount), I always found Upper Crust to be a rip-off, completely overpriced & lacking in fillings. Pret was good(Eat is better), but the best value was always M&S sandwiches, they were the only company not to put prices up simply because they are in a station.

You know I always forger that UKers will never know the fear of possibly being mauled to death by a gigantic beast in their own backyard. What a boring existence.
