Welcome! PS Vita Game Paradise - Stream Thread [Wut Stream]

This post has no actual meaning whatsoever.

The point is that 3DS is getting games that you would hypothetically expect on a PSP2.

No, actually, it has meaning. It is not universally being treated like a PSP2. KH on a Nintendo handheld is far from a surprise. Given how they designed, yeah, they aren't treating it like how they would treat a Sony released entry. Team Ninja and Tecmo put their franchises on Nintendo devices all the time. It's no surprise now. The DS had a Ninja Gaiden. If it was more powerful, it would have gotten more (like DoA) from them too. And while Metal Gear is a more Sony related franchise, porting the game doesn't convince me in the least that KojiPro is taking the device as a PSP2.

LOL, WTF is this shit? Trolling hard because the game is not on a system of your choice? Haha.

Somebody sounds offended. Yeah, I think this is colorful, bright, and dumb looking.

And I definitely think they wouldn't put something that weird looking on the Vita.

Name the amount of Capcom and SE games on the Vita (announced and out), and name the amount of Capcom and SE games on the Vita.

Rofl at it not being the PSP 2. For all intents and purposes currently it IS the PSP 2 there's little you can argue about it currently.

I've come to the conclusion that this event was intended to be disappointing.
So any actual new announcements after this is met with shock and awe.

I feel like Sony needed to show the world everything they had today. There's no reason to hold back. Very depressing results.

Looks like PSO2 is online-only, no local play. I guess that's all we need to know about its sales in Japan :-|

Phantasy Star Fan blog's translation of JP blog post said:
Sakai has officially announced Phantasy Star Online 2 for Playstation Vita coming in 2013. The preview looks like it’s running the shader-less version of the game.

Although it may look so low res currently, keep in mind that the PSVita version is less than 10% complete. The 3d models, shadows, and shaders are at the lowest setting. These will be improved upon once the game is optimized so it can look close in comparison to the PC version.

The PSVita version share the same server, the same data, and the same characters. Therefore the game saves are stored online and it shall be an online only game.

If Phantasy Star Victory turns out to be a 3DS game in the vein of Phantasy Star Portable and with local play...

What does that have to do with anything? I already stated that Capcom is treating it like a PSP2. Square is not. Theatrhythm, KH3D, Bravely Default are games they would not put on the PSP (as they are now).

Wow, this is pretty terrible.

It comes to something when sony are behind nintendo on this kind of thing. I think the "paradise" moniker was somewhat ill judged considering what we got from it.

I dunno, I'd say Square Enix (Kingdom hearts 3D), Atlus (Etrian Odyssey IV), Namco (Tekken 3D Prime), Tecmo (Dead or Alive: Dimensions), Konami (Metal Gear Solid 3D), all see the system as a viable PSP successor. With time, we will see the 3DS's library flooded with those monster hunting clones as well.

I'd say Atlus has been about as even-handed with 3DS/PSV as they were with DS/PSP, I'm not sure they're a valid inclusion in this argument. All the others, though, I agree with.

Wow, I thought this web broadcast was to reassure Vita owners and/or potential Vita buyers about their (future) investment, similar to what Nintendo did back in Oct 2011. But this probably created more confusion and dissapointment than what it was supposed to do...

SCEJ never disappoints

Honestly that was incredibly embarrassing for all of those outlets. Even gamasutra? Really?

I'm *hoping* - possibly unrealistically - that one of the outlets will hold their hands up, admit culpability, and then use this conference as a jumping-off point to write a detailed report on the whole chain of events ("How were we so wrong" sort of thing).

I think having the bravery to write a factual report on the failings of the majority of the game media to cover it adequately - and considerations for the future - would redeem that outlet somewhat.

Ouch, I feel very sorry for Sony :( it seems like they have no clue what to do with 3:rd party developers :/ I fear that when TOkyo Gameshow comes those games announced then will come out at the end of the year and 2013 ><

No, we agree that the proportion of the PSP userbase that can reasonably be said to have bought a 3DS- a fourth, since 3DS's LTD sales are a fourth of the PSP's (I think?)- has also bought Monster Hunter on the system in that exact same proportion (a fourth of the PSP game's sales).

it's about 100k from the Wii version to which MH3G is the G revision. How do you know that's not just all the Wii users coming on board and 100k "others" (PSP/Curious gamers)? ;)

See - i realise this is semiflippant on myside, but the point is that the 20m or so Japanese PSP users can't haven't migrated anywhere yet and i suspect right now they aren't interested in the Vita -or- the 3DS. Hell, the PSP was the biggest selling machine here last year.

I do again reiterate though that there IS going to be a mass movement of MH fans for MH4. Absolultely. 100%. Guaranteed. That's the -real- "oh bugger" clock that Sony has to work against. If they've no MH of their own, then they need to beef up their line up.

But again - it's all theory - it cannot be proven either way but will be completely evident come MH4.

bigger question is can the Vita survive until TGS?

Why no?

The chibi and cute style of Theatrhythm is clearly targeting more the genre than the platform where is released on.

While BD looks like the successor of FF gaiden for DS.

I'm not really sure why this is getting hate as much as it is, I mean we already know of a bunch of other games that are coming this year, with stuff like Sound Shapes, Dragons Crown, Street Fighter vs Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Tales of, Ys, DJ Max, Resistance, Retro City Rampage, and a bunch of other stuff, it would make sense for them to be showing stuff slated for 2013.

I'm also sure that Vita will get a sizeable chunk of Sony's E3 conference this year, then when you add in PSX support, and eventually PS Suite I think things look fine right now. I guess I just was not expecting them to revel anything major during a webcast....I don't think i've ever seen anyone announce anything huge during something like this.
